Funeral For A Friend Comments On Upcoming Album

Funeral For A Friend has checked in with the following update about releasing a new album:

"We thought we'd update you on the EP. If you pledged on a TYAD CD unsigned and unbundled you should now have it in your hands! They were sent out at the end of last week. If you pledged on a signed copy they are on their way back from being signed by the band as you read this and will also be sent out this week. Posters and t shirts are sitting ready and when the signed CDs come in all bundles containing these items will be go go go! Watch your postbox. The Casually Dressed presentation discs will also be on your walls by now. Hope you love them. The vinyl EPs and DVDs aren't in yet so stay tuned to the PledgeMusic site for news on those shortly. All of which brings us round to..

"As we're sure you're all aware we've got a new record coming out early next year. And if you liked The Young And Defenceless, this one's going to blow you a new back passage. If you did get involved in the EP then we’d like to say a huge THANK YOU to you. You helped us make that record and we were overwhelmed with the support it received. We’re so happy with the EP and excitement in the FFAF camp is at an all time high. If you made it to Cardiff recently and saw the show we did with Tiger Please, we hope that came across and that you enjoyed the new songs we previewed for you.

"So what next? The album! The whole process around the EP and the freedom that working with PledgeMusic and you guys gave us was so liberating that we’re inspired to do it again. It feels like the momentum we started with Memory And Humanity and then continued with TYAD in terms of retaining control about how we make the record, and then how we choose to release it has started something we don’t want to stop right now. And you are a big part of that. So thank you! And read on.

"If you’re following us on any of the community sites you'll know where we are right now. We’ve just come out of the studio with Romesh Dodangoda having finished work on the album and continuing the good work we started on the EP. It really is sounding incredible. We promised you that the fruits of our labours with Rich now fully integrated into Funeral and Gav back on his beloved guitar would extend beyond the EP and that is happening right now, actually as you read this.

"So again, if you want to get involved and be part of helping us on this record, you’re in the right place. This time with the record done the vibe is more focused on ways you can get involved in it early and things you get hold of with it. As with the EP there are things we've included that you won't be able to get anywhere else, right alongside things you will be able to get before they are offered to anyone else. And if you just want to get the album either as a physical CD or just a download - that's cool too. What we've tried to do is take everything we learned from running the EP project to make this work right for everyone.

"For those new to the PledgeMusic system it’s a very cool way of getting you closer to the action as we get nearer to the album's release. You can opt to get a copy of the record or something a little more special – exactly as with the EP. There are some different ideas here this time, loads of ways for you to get stuck in.

"As with the EP, we’ll be posting Pledger-only updates throughout the period and as before if you’re part of it you’ll have access to those. It’s the only place you’ll find them – we won’t be posting these to any of the blogs or to YouTube etc.

"The album will be released in March and pledging on it will ensure both that you get all the updates in the build-up and also that it's sent out to you directly by our record label, with no middlemen or interference, and it'll be sent to you to coincide spot on with the official release. Checking out the record through PledgeMusic is the only way to get access to the updates and the additional items you won't get by buying the album in a shop.

"As a final note and as with the EP any profits from this project will be donated to charity, and we’ve chosen this time to support the amazing work that goes on at the Ty Hafan hospice in Cardiff for terminally ill children and their loved ones.. Again, this has been chosen by us, not by our management, by PledgeMusic or by anyone else. Thank you for helping us to help them. If you missed the EP totally you can play catch up by watching the brand new video for lead track Serpents In Solitude on Myspace right here."
