The Rockstar Ramblings: Poison Remastered

Band Photo: Poison (?)

Given their rock of love affair with Bret Michaels, VH1 decided to run a special Behind The Music Remastered, featuring Bret’s band, Poison. Here are some quick thoughts on this production.

The band moves from PA to California. The original name of the band is Paris, which they quickly change to Poison and also hire a new guitarist, C.C. Deville. Early in their careers Bret points out that he was a greasy haired loser in High School. I forgot what I was going to say.

“Talk Dirty to Me” is released, the band is an overnight success. As the band grows in popularity the women are everywhere. The best line describing this is from Chloe, who is described as an adult movie actress, her opening line was always: “Do you have five minutes? I’d like to suck your cock”. As Chloe suggests, you needed to separate yourself from the herd.

Maybe the most exciting part of the show was seeing Rikki Rocket’s mom. She has the same hair as Rikki! This should have been a 60 Minutes piece in 1988.

After an “Every Rose has its Thorn” montage we see a picture of C.C. DeVille in pink hair which only means one thing…wait for it…YES! It’s the shot of C.C. DeVille and his brief solo career screeching out “Hey Good Lookin’ What You Go t Cookin’.” This clip is what brought down the glam era in the early nineties, not Nirvana. Well, maybe The Nelsons helped.

The story continues with the band fighting a lot. It seems like anytime C.C. changed his hairstyle, he got into a fight with another member of the band. Again, another idea for 60 Minutes to investigate. We also hear about when Bret crashed his Ferrari. “It happened really fast”, Says Bret. That happens with Ferraris, they are fast.

The rest of the story: Multiple comebacks, more fights, C.C. has a beard, and then everyone does reality television.

The End.
