Marionette Issues Report From the Road
Marionette has issued the following tour report:
"We started of in Copenhagen. The number of people that showed up were way above our expectations and half way through the show about 20, 30 people from a masqurade next door dropped by. If there's one thing Halloween has taught me it's that people in costumes go a bit more crazy than they usually would. The same thing happened at our show. I especially remember two girls dressed as Mia Wallace (from Pulp Fiction) dancing on a table. It didn't really feel like a metal show but it was just as much fun."
'After Copenhagen it was time for our really long drive over to the UK. We don't have our usual driver with us, instead, Robil Holgersson, one of the guitarists from Eldrimner (Alexander's other band) is driving, taking turns with Linus, Alexander and Anton. It's a bit nerve wrecking at times but so far so good."
"Our first show in the UK was Southampton, we had high hopes for this show since the last time we played there the audience was totally crazy. Our high hopes were met. After the show we went with a bunch of people from the show to party and get some sleep (hotels are expensive and it's a lot of fun to see the homes of fans since otherwise you mostly just get to see parking lots and hotel rooms). The party was a lot of fun. We were just sitting around talking, chilling out and consuming alcohol when all of a sudden the police knocked on the door because the neighbors complained about the volume of our talking. This was the first time I've ever gotten the police called on me but we were very pleasantly surprised. The policewoman was like I understand the neighbors are oversensitive and I don't want to be a partypooper. Is it okay if you break this party up in 20 minutes? That will give you a chance to finish your drinks." So the legends are true, there are people in uniforms who aren't assholes."
"The show in Yeovil got canceled for some reason so after Southamtpon we headed off to Birmingham for our day off. We got the chance to enjoy some shopping and a fun night on the town."
"The Birmingham show was at the same date as our very first show, October 8th, five years ago. So of course we brought cake for everyone at the show. A nice, big chocolate cake that me and Cat (our tour manager) picked out. After the show we had a very nice time over at Manu's (the singer from Under Blackend Skies) lovely girlfriend's house were we also stayed for the night. Everyone one we met in the UK has been extremely friendly and welcoming, even to total strangers like us."
"Nottingham was a very weird night. We played at a club night, but when we started playing our intro there wasn't a single person in the room. Fuck it, we started playing like usual anyways, trying to give the sound guy and the people in the bar a good show. Apparently the guys at the door were letting in people very slowly. So the room slowly started to fill up and about halfway through the show it looked more like a real Marionette show with a mosh-pit and everything. It went from the worst show to one of the best of the tour. After we enjoyed a great night at the club, we finally managed to get our stand in drummer, who almost never drinks, drunk enough to make him puke. The night was officially a success."
"Leeds seems to have some kind of curse on us. The first time we played there Mikael got his passport stolen, which caused a lot of problems. The second time we had some huge technical issues with the keyboards. So the third time we weren't gonna let anything bad happen. When we left Leeds we had gotten the window of our van smashed and Alex's ipod stolen, we got a flat tire and Robert got his wallet and his passport stolen. But at least the people in Leeds are very nice. We met some very nice people to party with and sleep over at. But we're not giving up, the forth time nothing bad is gonna happen... damnit!"
"In Newcastle we got our first chance to do some tourism. We stayed at our friend Liam's place. He showed us some awesome MMA knock outs. The next day he and Cat (our tour manager) showed us all over town and we went all the way to see The Angel of the North. We also got some drinking done at Gotham."
"Soon time for Glasgow. It's always been awesome here. Hope it is tonight as well. We'd love to go out tonight, Saturday in Glasgow could be very cool but we gotta get all the way down to London. Hopefully the show is great at least."
