In an announcement made today, Haunted Movies partner Jason Blum unveiled plans for the company’s next picture, "The Lords of Salem," to be directed by Rob Zombie from a script by Zombie. Set in modern-day Salem, the film involves the demonic return of a 300-year-old coven of witches.
This is the third entry in a new horror slate deal between Haunted Movies and Alliance Films. The first picture to come out of this partnership is "Insidious," written and directed by the original "Saw" team of James Wan and Leigh Whannel, and starring Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne. "Insidious" recently premiered in the Midnight Madness section of the Toronto Film Festival on September 14 and immediately was the subject of a bidding war, which was won by Sony Pictures Worldwide, who will handle the release of the film later this year. The second picture is "The Bay," helmed by Oscar-winning director Barry Levinson and currently shooting in South Carolina.
Octane, IM Global's genre arm, is handling international sales on the Haunted Movies slate, including on "The Lords of Salem."
Haunted Movies is a partnership between Jason Blum, Steven Schneider, and Oren Peli, the same team behind the box-office phenomenon Paranormal Activity (Paramount 2009) and Paranormal Activity 2 (set for release by Paramount this October).
"The Lords of Salem" will be produced by Blum, Schneider, and Peli, Zombie, and Zombie’s producing partner Andy Gould. Brian Kavanaugh-Jones of Automatik will executive produce.

all of his movies are not that great to be honest. He absolutely butchered the Halloween movies. The original one was so brilliant because of the fact that Michael was so evil. I don't care his backstory, and humanizing his character takes away his pure evilness. He is just an avatar of darkness. There is no understanding why he is the way he is-he just is and he is going to get you! Rob Zombie proceeded to portray him as a troubled boy who was bullied-lame!!!
Wow, zombie bashers huh?...damn
Well I agree not doing the blob is the right call, the only zombie movie I wasn't really into was corpses. ..it had it's moments for sure but the Dr butcher underground and baby's Shirley temple routine killed it for me, rejects was awesome, as for Halloween, I look at it this way, being a diehard fan of the franchise since I was a kid and as a fan having to be insulted by movies like H20 and resurrection, I definitely thought rob did a tremendous job in representing the Halloween franchise and putting his personal twist on it...they weren't perfect films but as a fan thought they were solid....
i thought devils rejects was pretty awesome but as far as Halloween, never seen Zombie's remake because H20 and Resurrection just ruined the whole damn thing for me and i could never get back into it, they raped Mike Myers and i will never see him the same way again
I personally like a little back story, to me what makes a better horror film is things you've either seen or gone through in life, and if you can incorporate that in a horror film that makes it all the better. ..a Guy who escapes from a mental hospital and randomly kills a bunch of teens is not scary, a Guy whose either suffered or been traumatized by individuals or someone who's agenda is revenge, vindication, or even say a cult type of following is...
Personally, I had a stepfather along the lines of a Ronnie white, so I easily related to Halloween, as for the bullying, do you know how bad that affects someone? ..as a kid and being bullied from 3rd- 8 the grade and having a sh!t home life I related, ....rob zone zombie was bullied, according to him,...idle to me it makes sense. ...if your not a fan of the franchise and never seen or been through bullying then I guess I can see how you came up with your take. ...
House of 1000 corpses and devils rejects are argueably the best horror movies period!!! I love both of those movies, and I also love the first halloween zombie did, didnt care for the second. I too love a backstory to a character such as michael myers, I wanna know why he is the way he is. Out of all his movies I think house of 1000 corpses is by far the best and the creepiest!
i didnt like corpses very much. rejects was a masterpiece imo. the first halloween was pretty damn good. the second wasnt as good as the first. and yes it kinda sucked. but if you watch the original, i thought that was terrible! its even f***ing worse. zombie made it better. so he was fighting an uphill battle to begin with imo. but im one of those ppl that just f***ing devour movies. and as for the bullying thing, i feel your pain my brothers! (group hug)
Korndogg: I have to disagree.. to me, The Exorcist is the best horror movie of all time... probably just because I'm a pvss and it scares the pants off me, lol. I mean, I don't even believe in Satan and it scares me xD
Im glad he's not doing The Blob... that would've made me lose respect for him lol. I think House Of A Thousand Corpses was pretty boss along with The Devil's Rejects. I really dugg the Halloween remake he did. Yeah sure, it takes away from what I remember Myers as always being. Pure evil, like that one guy said. Halloween II SUCKED. OH MY GOSH. I wanted to rip my eyes out. I friggin' hated it. I'll probably go see this just because I kinda digg horror movies. But I WILL be mad if it's a letdown. I guess we'll all just have to wait and see.
Also, being a Wiccan myself, I would wanna see a movie like this lol.
lol thats funny and yes i do know a bit about films such as why not to have Michael bay make transformer movies but thats a different topic all together Rob Zombie and Tim Burton Are both Great at what they do either behind the Camera or on Stage they are Amazing and a movie with rob zombies twisted humor views etc and Tim Burton's magic that is called directing would add up to become a very Good movie in my opinion but to each his own i guess....
^^The transformer movies are AMAZING!! Hands down! There isnt even a disscussioin about that. Monsters, you are an idiot. Zombie is a great director, Tim Burton is so played out and tired. He cant make a movie without johnny depp, or it being animated?? He has talent but has failed to use it with his last couple movies. The only zombie movie that sucked was Halloween 2.

His last couple movies have been letdowns...kinda like his last 2 albums. However, House of 1000 Corpses & Devil's Rejects are brilliant.
