Pit Stories: Brutalized In The Lamb of God Pit

We've been talking to bands and fans everywhere to get their favorite mosh pit stories. This week, Omega Crom's Johnny K recalls getting brutalized in a Lamb of God most pit:

A bunch of us were drinking in the parking lot before the [Lamb of God] show and my friend Stubbs dresses up as this wrestler called the Green Teabagger (you can find him on myspace) goes up to Chris Adler yelling, "I heard you wanted to go me! I heard you wanted to do it!" Funny shit.

So we go into the show just loaded and I'm in the mosh pit drunk and I gotta say that isn't the brightest thing I ever did. I lined up the biggest dude I saw in the vicinity and got smashed to the ground. I'm on my hands and knees and took a knee to the face at which point two random people pick me up and put me back on my feet, wow. Then they're ready to play Black Label and the crowd starts seperating for the wall of death. Randy screams, "1,2,3,4!" and everyone charges at each other like fucking Braveheart and I'm about the second row back from the frontline when we crash together. Managed to step back see just a massive pile of bodies and everyone is bailing people outta there to help the ones at the bottom of this massive doggypile, it was Fuckin Crazy.

Omega Crom just wrapped up the Summer Shred tour and recently spoke to Metalunderground.com where they revealed they're planning a Canadian run as well.

Check back every Tuesday for more pit stories.

I must say, Ive been a metalhead since I seen Priest open for Kiss in 1978 at the age of 13. The first time I ever seen a pit, at a metal show, not punk, was Slayer at the Felt Foram. Thats what the theater in the basement of Madison square garden was called back then. I was on 2 hits of Acid, and the f***ing Skinheads were pounding out all the longhairs. back then skins and headbangers were allways brawling. When I seen my buddy all bloody, I lost it!!! I Stormed the floor, and dropped kicked the biggest Nazi I could find. Then windmilled into their circle untill every one of those bald a$$ b****es were out cold or ran for the exits!!!!! Things have changed since then. Bang that head, that doesnt BANG!!!!

Biohazard / Slayer at roseland ballroom NYC. I cleared the pit, with no exceptions!! I was punching everything!!! Well untill a team of security goons suronded me and said "Dude you gotta go" I said why. They said Your hurting people, really hurting people" I said "Thats the whole idea" Well they parted the crowd like the red sea, and escorted me to the door. The crowd was cheering, I thought it was for me. It was, They were happy to see me go. WTF? Been banging heads for 33yrs. Im old school. I also had my far share of stiches, and scars to boast. Hope to see ya at the show!!!!

there's a difference between having a good time and going into a pit to try and knock people out and ruin their good time.

^^^ Agreed, while I love smashing around in the pit and knocking people around, its only a good time when other people are doing it as well in the right way. I hate the azzholes who go out there just to hurt people, that ain't fun.

The tank's antics belong at a hardcore show..you can swing and punch all you want...besides that's not moshing anyways, it's ultimate fighting...

I agree with comments five and six.. I hate those people who try to ruin it for everyone else. I've seen people get their heads split open and get broken bones and sh!t from stupid a$$ people trying to impress everyone with their attempts to be "brutal" and have an "awesome" pit story.

^That right there should be an indication that you need to relax. Moshing isn't punching, kicking, and windmilling around like a retard. Take that sh** to a hardcore show, at least then you will fit in.

Hey, don't insult ultimate fighting like that. It has long since progressed past large dudes flailing away.

The bigger d***s are the ones that try to hurt people who aren't even in the pit, they're outside it or at the front or something, and the guy just seems like hes trying to hurt them. They're normally really dumb though so all you need to do is stick out your foot lol.

Right, it's now small AND medium-sized dudes flailing away!

....only kinda. Should I try to include flailing during the training that I'm currently a part of? How well does flailing pair up against Muay Thai? :-P

Thought I was gonna die at Soundwave, so many motherf***ers were there! I was saying in my head "right... this is it. I am going to die due to mosh pit suffocation, pretty sweet way to go." and them someone yelled, "f***! It's a chick! Get her outta there!" and I lived to see them again :P

i'm not that too surprised about this story. when i saw LOG last month at mayhem, during 11th hour and black label, were the biggest circle pits that i've EVER seen in my life!! there easily must've been well over 100+ (maybe even 200+) ppl in them.

haha i remember seeing them live and in the first 5 seconds of hourglass (the opening song) i lost my shoe...within another 5 seconds i see it shooting out of the crowd and over past chris adler....made me laugh and i ended up staying in the mosh pit from start to finish...

at the end of the show my whole foot was swollen and bruised and a toenail was half ripped out...but well worth it :D
