"some music was meant to stay underground..."

Futures End Posts New Texas Tour Blogs

Guitarist Christian David Wentz of Futures End has checked in with two more updates from the road about the band's trip to Texas:

"Futures End Texas Show Blog III: We arrived at the venue and were pleasantly surprised at the size of the place, as well as the quality of sound there. It was just killer to show up just in time for Fates Warning's sound check. We got to hear them play 4 songs before turning over the stage to our crew. After getting Six Minute Century set up and ready to play, we all headed upstairs where we had some truly awful steak and some truly outstanding company.

"Rusty from Lone Star Metal Magazine sat down with Marc, Fred, and I for an interview. We had a great time chatting with Rusty, then it was time for SMC's set, which we were not going to miss. They were just excellent. I have seen them play many times and this was certainly the brightest and tightest show I have witnessed. Their new bass player is a welcome edition to the band and he delivered a fine performance. Next, Futures End took the stage.

"I was blown away with the energy of the crowd, packed tightly like sardines from the stage all the way to the back wall, spilling out to the rest of the club off to stage left. The response was nothing like I have ever experienced. Holy SHIT you guys were insane! I am truly in awe of the reception we got here in Texas. Thank you all for making this show so special for us! My oldest son Andrew drove down with his mother and some friends from McKinney to see us play. That was the icing on the cake and I was so happy to see my kid for the first time in a couple of years. We had a great time hanging out together.

"The band kicked ass. My hair kept falling into my face to the point where I slopped up some guitar solos, but it didn't matter. I had more fun playing tonight than I ever had. Larry Smith just owned the bass and we owe him a great debt of gratitude for stepping in for DiGiorgio in his absence. Larry had some pretty mighty shoes to fill and he delivered big time. I was amazed that we outsold Fates Warning in terms of merchandise. Just another sign that we went over very well.

"It was great to see so many old friends, and to make so many new ones. It was all over so fast. I want to thank Beth Mays for putting it all together and making us comfortable and happy. And we owe Six Minute Century BIG TIME for providing us our backline. You guys are amazing!

"Well, it looks like we are going to do a little show tomorrow night with the Dogs here in Houston. I will let you all know when and where. Then, it is back to California, but with a heavy heart, as we have had so much fun playing for you all.

"Futures End Texas Show Blog IV: We rested up all day. Hell I didn't get out of bed until after 3pm. It was a hell of a show last night, but it's not quite over yet. We are back out tonight at the Texas Rock Tavern to play some more Futures End style heavy metal. After last night's success, I am truly stoked to get to play with the boys one more time before we go home.

"Talking to DiGiorgio via instant messenger in France. We missed him at the gig last night. Larry did a great job for us and we are all truly grateful he was there to step in when we needed him, but the next time out you can count on his Steveness to be there to bring the thunder. Hope to see you out there tonight!"
