Activision has announced some of the details for their next installment in the popular Guitar Hero video game franchise, including several bands. The new game will be called Guitar Hero: Warriors Of Rock and will be much more story based than the previous games. Players will begin their careers at the legendary CBGBs venue and continue to the molten lava fields of rock treachery as eight Guitar Hero characters transform into rock warriors that must join together to use their unique, game-changing powers to help the Demi-God of Rock take down "The Beast" and save rock n’ roll.

"Guitar Hero has set the standard for music based gaming and with Guitar Hero: Warriors Of Rock’s all-new Quest Mode, robust and authentic set list, over-the-top challenges and rock-inspired new hardware, we are once again bringing the soul and energy of rock n’ roll to fans around the world,” said David Haddad, Chief Operating Officer, Guitar Hero.

"The world is a boring place. Come with me, and enter a world populated of Demi-Gods and Beasts. Transform from an everyday person and become the savior of rock and roll,” said Gene Simmons of KISS. “It was an honor and privilege to narrate Guitar Hero: Warriors Of Rock, even more so, to voice the Demi God. From the God of Thunder to the Demi-God, how cool is that..."

The following songs have been confirmed for the game:

AFI - "Dancing Through Sunday"
Avenged Sevenfold - "Bat Country"
Black Sabbath - "Children Of The Grave"
Buzzcocks - "What Do I Get?"
Children Of Bodom - "If You Want Peace... Prepare For War"

Sounds a bit like Guitar Hero mixed with Brutal Legend, but whatever. These games are a waste of my time.

Ya agreed this is more of a game for kids say 15 and under...the good thing i 'd think this would spawn some kids to pick up and play an actual instrument rather learning how to be a wannabe.....on the other hand, i could see parents, stoners and deadbeat dads playing this as well.....no matter how advanced technology gets, nothing beats cranking up your favorite band on your stereo in your house, all alone, using your remote control as a microphone and air guitaring with a broom or hockey stick in the midst of performing your own personal live set/concert...

The GH series actually contributed to my wanting to play guitar. I played "The Trooper" and "Raining Blood", and I said I would learn both of them. Learnt Raining Blood about a week ago, just finished learning The Trooper about a couple hours ago.

I've been playing the guitar for some 25years and I'm very happy to see comments like "instead of playing a plastic Toy i'm just going to play my guitar" and "would rather play a real instrument". That's awesome, guys!

Guitar Hero? I wish that thing would have never been invented. Some idiots actually think they can learn to play guitar with those toys! So sad.

Haha, post 18 wins.

I seriously thought we had seen the end of these stupid home based rhythm games after the companies tried to take back the holiday bonuses from the game developers for making such sh**ty games that nobody wants anymore. Just like I predicted, these stupid games became ridiculously popular overnight, and just like stupid teen pop stars, they're only "cool" to most people for a few years and then everybody hates them. People are starting to realize how gay these games are; if you want a fun lesson in economics, go to a used game store and look how many of the stupid plastic instruments have been sold back, they can't even move them out of the used game stores because nobody wants 'em. Seriously, take the $200 you RB/GH f*** heads spend on your stupid plastic instruments and buy a real guitar/amp combo, and maybe a couple of real metal CDs. It's actually extremely insulting to see AFI and MCR on the same play list as Slayer and Megadeth.

tl;dr f*** posers; metal belongs in your CD player, Mario belongs in your Wii.

Some of the posts on these comments are the most ignorant rants I have ever seen. I wish everyone could take a step back and look at themselves the same way they view others, and realize that their opinion is not the only valid one. Just as the numerous people here are belittling players of video games, I could turn around and rant right back and call you all idiots because you have probably never even played one of these games or looked at the benefits of them; but I won't, because you have your own opinions.

I have played guitar hero since the first rendition and I can't say that it has turned me into a masterful guitar player, but it did widen my musical horizons. The songs on those discs helped me get into metal in the first place, so if it weren't for guitar hero, I probably wouldn't even be on this forum reading totally brutal metal comments, I would be frolicking in some daisies listening to coldplay or some ish (not really!). Guitar hero did make me pick up a real guitar though, which is what so many of you say that I should do anyways, so WHAT MOAR DO YA WANT???

Other than that, you guys are all hilarious, and I enjoy reading your comments. Carry on!
