I don't understand it. I heard Lady Gaga for the first time the other day, and it was horrible. Why are metal musicians just eating this up?

My girlfriend put an unknown CD in my cover on Saturday. I heard the first song, "Just Dance" and thought it was just some stand pop female crap, but not nearly as bad as most of the sh** out there. After the song "Pocker Face" I asked who it was. She told me Lady Gaga. For the sheer principle of the matter, I ejected it immediately, but truth be told The Gaga is not that bad, as far as pop sh** goes.

I respect, admire, and appreciate Lady Gaga more than the VH! reality whores (ie Brett Michaels or Sebastian Bach) that is for sure.

Did you guys know that Lady Gaga made it onto Time's "100 World's most influential people of 2010" list?

Bruno, please, don't mention VH1 or MTV, please. While flicking through the tv channels, I accidentally saw some 40-50seconds of a tv show called "Jersey Shore" on MTV the other day, and all of a sudden the end of the world seems like a pleasant dream.

Meteorites, Sunken russian nuclear subs, hurry up. We're ending ourselves in a painful manner. Please end it all fast.

Wolf: LMFAO! A couple of months back I was talking to some friends of mine back home in Philadephia and they were giggin about Jersey Shore and when I said i'd never heard of it they were emphatic about how I "really need to watch that show". So after searching the guide and comming up empty I called fat boy and he said it was on MTV. The phone went silent until I took a breath and said "You's guys is fvckin queeeah!".

BG1, I'm sorry mate, but if your friends were seriously suggesting that you should watch Jersey Shore.... erm, I think they must be pretty braindead (well, MTV brainwashed more likely!). The first thought that came to my head during those 40-50secs I watched it were "you must be braindead to watch this!".
No offence.... you know it ;)

Wolf: They're both Italian greaseballs from south philly brother. Braindead is a way of life for those two. But I love em like brothers. Sali is the typical musclebound goombah, and Mike (fat boy) is the typical mamma's boy Italian. Seriously though, they sounded like a couple of old ladies at the peanuckle table talking about those crazy Italian kids on Jersey Shore. I grew up with them. No offence taken and to be honest I wouldn't trade the time I spent growing up with those two for anything in the world.

Bruno said - "truth be told The Gaga is not that bad, as far as pop sh** goes."

And that is heart of the problem here. Instead of metal covers of her songs being witty juxtapositions or ironic statements about the bubblegum nature of mainstream artists (which they probably wouldn't be even if she were bad), all these covers are just needless prostration at the feet of a "not that bad" artist.

To me covering LG is like a red flag warning of a band that thinks they're doing something witty or original, but is in fact an unimaginative zeitgeist which shames us all as we sink into the cesspit of attention grabbing.

Phew, glad I got that out.

How is covering Lady Gaga original in the first place? Lady Caca isn't that bad compared to the other mainstream garbage out there today.

I would rather listen to Caca than FOB or MCR.
