New York City metal band Severed has recently completed their self-titled new album, which will be released on May 9th. The band will be also hosting a CD release show on this day.

The band discusses the new album, “As any band who lives to make their music known, we've put blood, sweat and tears into our new CD. We feel the music directly mirrors us as a group. The album is a raw representation of Severed's influences and personalities, and as such we've decided on self-titling it. There's no hiding behind fluff or concept. Take it or leave it, what you hear is who we are.”

“Our new lineup is the most solid it's ever been. It enabled strong technical performances, a diversity of ideas and a deep, heavy sound to be the foundation upon which our album could be built. We're especially excited about the production quality, thanks to John Machado of Five Towns College. A lot of independent bands waste a great deal of time and money on projects with weak production. That's a trap we took efforts to avoid. Working with John was invaluable to getting the sound we wanted. The same can be said for the artwork, a creation of Eliran Kantor, who has done work for many bands including Testament, Gwar, and Sigh. Like all of his art, our CD cover image was masterfully executed and exciting to see in print. We are also extremely excited about the guest appearances on the disc by Ray Mazzola of Full Blown Chaos, and Jorge Rosado of Merauder. Their support means a great deal to us, and their performances add a very dynamic feel to the songs they appear in.”

The band comments on the CD release party show, “We've chosen Club Europa in Brooklyn, NY for our CD release. Its size and atmosphere make it the ideal venue for this show. We can't wait to take the stage with the six bands bands we've asked to play with us. We have a great, technical and multifaceted band, Fall of the Albatross, playing our direct support spot. Right before them we've got an awesome, up and coming brutal band from New Jersey, Will Killmore. It's also great to have our friends Deceiveing Persephone and Waist Deep in Flesh playing the show with us, as well as newcomers, Behold! The Bitter Truth and One Hit Kills.”

The new album will be available at their CD release show for $5. The details of the CD release show are as follows:

Sunday May 9th - Club Europa - $10 – 5pm - w/ Fall of the Albatross, Will Killmore, Deceiving Persephone, Waist Deep in Flesh, Behold! The Bitter Truth, and One Hit Kills.
