Avenged Sevenfold guitarist Zacky Vengeance has issued the following statement about the band's now deceased drummer Jimmy "The Rev" being voted best drummer at the Revolver Golden God Awards:
"On Thursday night Jimmy the Rev was voted Best Drummer at the Revolver Golden God Awards. It is an extremely bitter sweet honor. We know all of our fans and friends have always and will foREVer hold him in this regard and for that we thank you. The ceremony is to air on May 22nd on VH1 Classic. Much love."

^No, sorry, he was an ok drummer, but there are dozens of drummers far better and far more deserving. A7X never stood out because of their drum work. It was their guitar playing. My sympathies to the guy's family, yeah it sucks when metal loses good musicians, but don't f*ckin cheat those who truly deserve these awards just to beat a dead horse- no pun intended- and soak up as much publicity and attention from it as possible. Do that sh** with Michael Jackson, don't do it here. If anything, it's an insult to the Rev's memory.

A7X 4 Life: Listen dumb fvck, he was a good drummer. Nothing more. I may even go as far as to say he was better than your average run of the mill bubble gum rock drummer but that would really be pushing it. As Crushem/hellrat both pointed out, all due respect to his friends and family, but he didn't earn this rediculous excuse of an award. Since i'm actually a member of this site, i'll decide what to post, when and where. You and your opinion are about as relevant as a silent fart cut under the covers at 2am. You're here now, you stink, and soon you will be gone.

Dime (Darrell) was still alive when he won the awards he garnered (the ones that mattered) and deserved, and as much as I hate grunge, I have to admit that Cobain was a great song writer. No offense, but he obviously got the award for sympathy. Gene Hoglan slaps and sh**s on The Rev like he's his b****, he is soooooo much better than him. Chris Adler is arguably the best metal drummer of this decade (at least top 5), Brann Dailor is sick as f***, and Dave Lombardo is the godfather of double bass (along with Charlie Benante imo). Poor poor decision.

The rev is a truly talented drummer, it's unfortunate this will be marred by the fact he died. I think he could have won it regardless, to so he sucks or any other garbage along those lines is ignorant. He is a very talented and creative drummer, just because you don't like the band he's in doesn't drag him into the sh** drummer catagory. Open your eyes retards

i admit that the examples i posted earlier were bad, they were just of the top of my head. but i stand by the main point.
what i ment with kurt cobain was when he gets put high up on best guitarest lists, i would fully support him being on best song, artist, songwriter, stuff like that, but he was not the best guitarist. his music was not the most complex music ever. (in my opinion at least)
RTB: see i do think dimbag was a good guitarist without a doubt, but i have never been a PANTERA, or DAMAGEPLAN fan so my opinion of him is kind of warped. it just comes down to music prefrence to me. but yes he was a good/great guitarist.

I'm sorry fanboys, but these men have every right to be upset. This a magazine/company/brand claiming to be the leader of informative metal, and they do this. I'm gonna say the Rev, as far as his level of mainstream with the peers in that category he was good. But when you compare him to the likes of the people that were nominated it just shows how much of a joke these people are and how there decisions are irrelevant because they don't even have the decency to stay true to there choices and the fans of metal by giving biased sympathy awards away. So fanboys just give up and agree, he recievied it because he passed away. Gene should have won imo, George of Nile gets my vote for people not nominated, and Cobain sucks. Out!

*sigh* he didn't deserve the award. there are MUCH better drummers out there, and some of them were nominated. I'd rather have Chris Adler win the award. He was much more innovative than 'rev'. I don't think I'll ever have faith in the mainstream metal community....
Vitold Viteck should've gotten the award instead of Rev....he was a much better drummer...died a few years ago(tour bus accident), but still....

And for the newbies and those not in the know.....c'mon now. AX7 may be a little catchy, but hardly worthy of the "God" tag many people put on them.
