April Fools! Did We Get You?
We hope you enjoyed our April fools stories yesterday! I know I'm a little late with this update, so sorry for the confusion. In our long-standing tradition, we devoted the entire day yesterday to fake news and spoofs. We had fun writing them despite the fact that we can't really fool most of you in our eighth year of the tradition. Although we did trick a few of you by starting off with some very plausible (yet fake) stories. Thanks go to those of you who helped sell the stories and played along rather than blurt out “April Fools!” In case you missed them, you can read yesterday's April Fools stories here.
You can also check out our previous years' spoofs at the following pages:
- April Fools 2009
- April Fools 2008
- April Fools 2007
- April Fools 2006
- April Fools 2005
- April Fools 2004
- April Fools 2003
As always, no offense is meant to either the people or bands discussed in the April Fools stories or to those whom we've attributed fake quotes. As is often the case in life, the bands we like most are the ones that get "picked on" in these stories.

yeah the sepultura deal was PURE EVIL...i couldn't even get into or participate in the 'humor' behind it...f***in Oz :)
who the hell is the hold up on the reality of this thing anyway? looks like its Andreas...he IS too proud, it seems
by happenstance, i was last night rereading an old 2008 interview with max in Decibel where he'd just reconciliated with his bro and they were both open to a Sep 'reunion' of sorts...if only for a old time nostalgia tour...kisser was the no go
guess he figures its his rightfully usurped claim to the name, and he ain't backin down from his 'new baby'
this f***in seputura spoof generated more emotion than all the other april fools combined...why can't this fraction of passionate response from their untold legions of original fans spur some initiative to reconsider???
i ask of you good people of ONLY this metal press (Doug!)...is there nothing within your influence that can be done to encourage such notions? Slightly geared interviews perhaps? :)
ah fvck it, i'm a selfish bastard---and am subject to pipe dreams...though i will bet money i ain't got that i am not alone in this fanciful kid's wish
i'm jonesin' for Chaos 2011!!!
You got me on quite a few....the Dimmu Borgir one, I almost died! At first I thought okay maybe they WILL change their corpse paint to reflect things from the upcoming album, but when I saw which of the Kiss makeup Galder was going to take (my favorite member and shockingly looks like my fiance) I was so sad! LOL I figured you were bullshi*ing by then though. Whew! *wipes brow in relief* >:)
That was awesome RAT....what are you drinking?....dont tell me alcohol had nothing to do with that speech....but i feel you bro..
VPNH where the hell you been?....costa rica right?....or is that later this year....
Andres kisser needs the sh!t shook out of him, to be slapped around about 100 times, and needs to listen to some of the bands old work, finally he needs to be tied to a chair and forced to watch the chaos dvd as many times as possible to remind him of the good ol days, and what he was destined to do....be a part of one of the best metal bands ever.....*WAKE THE FAHQ UP ANDRES*.........YOU D!CK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yes brother...i'm afeared that indeed, a few crispers may have been knocked back by that point :)
please excuse the meltdown Friends....but is there nothing that can be done?
WE ARE THE ONES that make careers for these guys....and hell, even a guy as self absorbed and tunnel visioned as jon schaffer listened to his fans who couldn't stand the ripper, and brought back big red....
i'm all for artists pursuing their creative impulses, yes....which is the purpose of the long standing tradition of 'side projects'
you don't see tom warrior riding the CF name on his new project do ya?? no! cuz it ain't fvckin celtic frost without martin
i'll shut up now....and thanks for the good fun the other day you guys :)
Rat "Triptykon will sound as close to Celtic Frost as is humanly possible, and the album I am working on will feature all the material I envisioned for the successor to Celtic Frost's Monotheist. I desire the album to be a darker, heavier, and slightly more experimental development of Monotheist." Yea he kinda is
yes DF, you are correct...a poor choice of words on my part...though I do think you understood the point and are just bustin my balls a bit :)
fischer is not directly USING the celtic frost name...
a musician's legacy will follow them, its inevitable....and the good ones should exploit it to the best advantage, it IS their well earned keep...
warrior has enough respect for his former band mates and the musical entity he made with them to leave well enough alone and go ahead and risk potential oblivion by taking a new moniker for his current material....and he was the primary driving force behind that band! ya know what i mean?
ah hell, sorry...all this is way off topic...'Bringer, AF was great, and i'm sure you'll find ample opportunity to wield out all the stuff you still got up yer sleeve :)
cheers all
