Demi Lovato to Appear on Anaal Nathrakh Album

Disney recording artist and Camp Rock star Demi Lovato will be appearing as a guest vocalist on Anaal Nathrakh's newly announced album "The Great He-Goat," presumably named after the Francisco Goya painting on the track "Corrupting the Foundations of Bad Faith."

"I've always been a fan of extreme metal and it's a dream come true to finally sing a chorus for a band that I've respected for years. Hopefully I can introduce my fans to this excellent group and their fans will be open-minded about what I do," commented Lovato. "The whole pop and metal crossover thing is cool. It'll be just like an eighties record where Eddie Van Halen was playing a solo for Michael Jackson and I'm proud to be a part of it."

Annal Nathrakh's Dave Hunt had the following to say, "People bitched about Mick's whole Sorrows thing so when Demi's publicist approached me I was like why the bloody fuck not? We're not in this for the money. We don't care what you think. If some wanker has an issue he can sod off."

Demi has also gone on to state that after her contract with Disney is over she'd be interested in performing in a power metal band that would be similar in sound to After Forever. "I hope to stay involved with the genre for years to come. This is not the last that the metal world has heard from me."

That article is hilarious. One of the most extreme bands on earth, and a Disney pop star....I think the Varg/Pepsi article was more convincing...

So I was exploring Metal-Archives forums and her name comes up again, this time it has a diffrent link, leading to an mtv site. Apparentley she's a fan of a bunch of core crap, and would like to do something metal in the future.

While her taste in music debatably sucks, it's not particularly -core.

Maylene and the Sons of Disaster are like Nashville p***y... but bad. Not really -core but I hate them with a passion.

Abigail Williams are no longer -core and don't deserve to be tagged as such since they changed by the time of their full length. And Trym was a member at one point. I can respect that.

Job for a Cowboy fall into the same category as AW. Once they made their full-length, thy were no longer -core. They're nothing original but they know how to put on a kickass live show and they have interesting lyrical ideas.

She's a fan of Dimmu Borgir's old stuff. Namely Enthrone Darkness Triumphant, not the new sh**ty Dimmu. Most people into newer Dimmu aren't even metal fans, most people into the first four albums are metalheads. She likes the old Dimmu.

Lamb of God moved away from -core. They're just groove metal now. Still, I've always like Lamb of God. They got me into heavier and more extreme bands.

Devil Wears Prada are every bad -core cliche of the past ten years combined into one band mixed with horrible and nonsensical lyrics and song titles. I have seriously heard every riff that this band has played before. This band made me miss out on a Dark Tranqullity show. And covering Still Fly in a fashioncore way is just terrible. The mild autotune effect that I detect just makes them that much more intolerable.

Dr. Acula's "party grind" is the worst thing to happen to grindcore ever. No matter how many horrible one-man grind bands that use aggression as a crutch to compensate for a lack of talent and then add in vocals that sound liek a flushing toilet come by, Dr. Acula will always be worse. Even c*** and Ball Torture who take everything that I just described but then turn the tempo down to remove the speed that grind is known for are more pleasurable to listen to than Dr. Acula. Not only did they take their name from an episode of scrubs but they have succeeded in finally killing grind and no amount of f*** the Facts and Pig Destroyer albums will ever manage to compensate for Dr. Acula's mere existence. f*** this band.

So in all, her taste is half-respectable and she ignores older and more established acts for newer and trendier bands but would probably like Bolt Thrower if exposed to them, assuming that she doesn't like them already. If you are ever in doubt over whether somebody is metal or not, ask them if they like Bolt Thrower since nobody can hate that band and call themselves a metalhead. Thanks

Yes, because liking a genre of music that you don't play is completely unacceptable. Demi Lovato shouldn't be allowed to like metal.

Dasher - Grindcore does take some influences from hardcore, which is does not pre-date. But its extremity usually gets it lumped in with death metal and other extreme metal.

If that's is the real Mick Kenney, then this entire thread has become epic win.

To answer the question, partially because people will believe anything and partially because uninformed blogs repost the article as fact. Also, Demi Lovato likes extreme metal and Anaal Nathrakh is the kind of band that would make references to Satre and Goya. Also, the Satre reference is part of the joke as allowing a teen pop singer onto the album would be deliberately acting against bad faith since it would spit all over people's expectations of extreme metal. Surprised that nobody got that.
