Scorpions Calls It A Day
Band Photo: Scorpions (?)
German hard rock legends Scorpions have announced that their forthcoming new album, "Sting In The Tail" and it's subsequent world tour, will be the band's last. A statement from the band discussing their forthcoming split reads as follows:
"Important message to our fans:
"It was always our pleasure, our purpose in life, our passion and we were fortunate enough to make music for you - whether it was live on stage or in the studio, creating new songs.
"While we were working on our album these past few months, we could literally feel how powerful and creative our work was – and how much fun we were still having, in the process. But there was also something else: We want to end the Scorpions' extraordinary career on a high note. We are extremely grateful for the fact that we still have the same passion for music we’ve always had since the beginning. This is why, especially now, we agree we have reached the end of the road. We finish our career with an album we consider to be one of the best we have ever recorded and with a tour that will start in our home country Germany and take us to five different continents over the next few years.
"We want you, our fans, to be the first to know about this. Thank you for your never-ending support throughout the years!
"We uploaded the very first snippets from our new album for you. And now… let’s get the party started and get ready for a Sting in the Tail!
"See you on the world tour."

wow, that sucks. when they come to my town, I AM seeing them. it is a must. this may be the scorpions concert ill be going to, but at least though ill have seen them in concert. theyre a really awesome band, i love em
P.S. sunybud - how dare you say that about the Scorpions, thats cold man
Hope i have the opp to see them on tour, never got a chance to before. Lotta history with these dudes...if I remember correctly they were the first rock/metal outfit to tour behind The Iron Curtain. Like 'em or not, a band can't stay around for 40 years without having the goods to keep on rollin'. Unfortunately, it's only a matter of time before some talentless rapper "samples" Rock You Like a Hurricane"....if it hasn't happened already.....
Right decision, in my opinion.
I think they've been on a steady decline since Savage Amusement (1988) and haven't really cared that much about any of their albums since, but gotta say, they ARE still on top of what they do and this is a good moment to pull the plug, instead of becoming a joke (too many names to mention). So, well done Hannover boys!
Oh, wow "misty-tears" here so the legendary SCORPIONS are going for the finale Curtain call and I must say what a dynomite Master Metal/Pioneer band they are & couldn't agree more with #9 response post. They open up "many" music doors for not only their Country of Germany but Worldwide. Love you SCORPIONS: Klaus, Rudolph (my favorite), Mathias, Herman & Francis and Uli & Micheal (the foundation "click" of the SCORPIONS Music History success) and other fine musicians members that participated. You guys are phenomanel & will never forget the times (3 in all) when seeing you guys/The SCORPIONS high energy trailblazing on stage...'WOW, WOW, WOW their's "No One Like YOU" and definately look forward to your newest album/Cd release "String In the Tail" and Worldwide Live Tour 2010 plus. Godbless, luv you SCORPIONS!

HANOVER, GERMANY—Over the weekend, it was announced that the Scorpions, Germany’s most famous rock band, will embark on a two-year world wide tour, hitting almost every country along the way. The name of the tour, ironically enough, will be “The Small Gust of Wind” tour. According to...
