My Chemical Romance Singer Gerard Way Questions Judas Priest?
Band Photo: Judas Priest
Many heavy metal fans have been given yet another reason to hate My Chemical recently after the bands lead singer made a statement that many have seen as disrespectful to the British heavy metal legends Judas Priest. Fans and members of the media believe that MCR lead singer Gerard Way questioned Judas Priest's claim to the heavy metal genre. In a recent interview with Spinner.com, he said about the band's forthcoming new album:
"Judas Priest is considered metal, but it’s great rock n roll. (New MCR songs have) nothing to do with that era of metal, the hair rock, but then having everything to do with like the birth of power-anthem metal."
UPDATE: It seems the quote was taken out of context somewhat, and the band it discussing Priest's influence on them. You can read some more here.

gerard didnt say nethin bad about judas he was like
comparing it and he probly is a judas fan i no he likes old metal. and for all you fa**ots out ther saying how emo and scene they are get over yourselves bcause u all love a fa**ots music LOL and they arent emo they are post hardcore
First off, Gerard Way is saying that they're newer songs have nothing to do with that "particular era of metal" referring to hair rock/metal and isn't knocking Judas Priest at all. He acknowledges that Judas Priest is a metal band and on top of that boasts about them being an influence for their appreciation of Rock and Roll in general. It's a shame you guys forgot what context clues were. My Chemical Romance's The Black Parade was a patchwork quilt of influences of glam rock and anthemic song structure shot with a whole lot of angst. Which makes them define hard to define. I think the whole point is that they're going to tone down the angst, wash away the glam and focus more on the attitude of just kicking out some great rock n roll tunes . You just took it out of context.
Hammerheart: Ah! Yer killin' me. Too funny.
To clear up Gerards muddled statement:
1. "Judas Priest is considered metal, BUT it’s great rock n roll" He just said Priest isn't Metal.
2. "but then having everything to do with like the birth of power-anthem metal" He states that MCR is "Power Anthem METAL"
So yes, Gerard said Priest isn't metal and MCR IS a form of metal. He is either desperate for attention or staggeringly ignorant on the topic of popular music. You know, his artistic medium, his profession...
anyone who is defending my chemical bromance get the hell off this site... you are just a big piece of sh**... they are one of the worst bands in the world and its obvious that whoever that piece of sh** singer is he was trying to insult the type of music priest makes and that he is saying MCR makes metal which is even more insulting.
I'm with 28, all these f***ing MCR loving trolls need to gtfo my goddamn interwebz. The sentence structure the MCR kid just sounds all wrong to me, like english isn't his first language or hes f***ing high or something. "(New MCR songs have) nothing to do with that era of metal, the hair rock, but then having everything to do with like the birth of power-anthem metal." sh** makes no sense.
DEATH TO ALL BUT METAL!
Taking quotes out of context is so metal.
The actual quote:
(On "Living After Midnight," which the writer of the article says one of the songs from MCR's upcoming album "features a vibe similar to.")
"That's my favorite Priest song," Way says, admitting there is some '80s flavor on the disc. He credits 'Trans-Am' for freeing those influences up.
"That song actually reminded me in an odd way of all the best stuff of '80s what is called c*** rock, but not all of it was," Way says. "Judas Priest is considered metal, but it's great rock 'n' roll. It's having nothing to do with that era of metal, the hair rock, but then having everything to do with like the birth of power-anthem metal. After 'Trans Am,' that started to really bleed into the record."

Link to the article, which you so conveniently left out:
http://www.spinnermusic.co.uk/2009/12/22/my-chemical-romance-channel-judas-priest-blade-runner-on-new/
Gerard is complimenting Judas Priest for transcending the "mold metal" and for opening doors in music, not attempting to disrespect the band.
K Gerard has been saying that the band admires and has been inspired by Judas Preist. Plus none of can accurately say that MCR is not rock cause their 4th album hasn`t been released yet. So you all know where you can shove these premature conclusions of yours.
Plus, to striaghten something out here....not all MCR fans are all emo, hormonic kiddy teens....they have fans of all ages. For those who cannot tell i am a MCR fan, but i don`t dress in black, wear eyeliner and all the other sh** you all make up to make yourselves feel tough.
By the way, i find it absolutely hilarious how much you all hate MCR but yet you look all over MCR forums and you actually spend time hating on the band cause you just cannot stop talking about them. I don`t know, but it sounds like a major flaw to me.
Laslty, the more you hate MCR, the less your going to actually pay attention to their newer songs whether upcoming or from the Black Parade because you`ve already made up your mind long before your going to listen to it anyways. So to pass any sort of judgement on the songs, the meanings and those who enjoy for any reason makes you all ignorant and hipocritical a**holes....and for any of you to argue with that with just prove my point further....
So grow up, cause maturity is clearly not an asset this board possesses!!
Actually, you took this quote out of context and edited to make it say something it is not. Here is the actual quote and context:
Gerard was talking about the writer's commenting that a song had a "Living After Midnight"-like feel:
"That's my favorite Priest song," Way says, admitting there is some '80s flavor on the disc. He credits 'Trans-Am' for freeing those influences up.
"That song actually reminded me in an odd way of all the best stuff of '80s what is called c*** rock, but not all of it was," Way says. "Judas Priest is considered metal, but it's great rock 'n' roll. It's having nothing to do with that era of metal, the hair rock, but then having everything to do with like the birth of power-anthem metal. After 'Trans Am,' that started to really bleed into the record."
Conclusion: The singer is actually complimenting Judas Priest.
Please be more careful next time you read and write.
all you scene emos should be off this site. i'm not browsing mcr forums just to hate them, it's just somewhat insulting to see them on a metal website. no offence of course to our beloved deathbringer, it's just the fact that mcr tried to do something to get onto a metal website.
i don't hold anything against mcr fans... i have something major against mcr.
for those of you asking "what did they ever do to you" well... gerard way likes to spread a bit of his chemical romance to boys my age in my area ;)
We're not crashing your beloved site for no reason. For some reason, this showed up in the My Chemical Romance Google news feed.
If a website says it has news about one's favorite band, one tends to view it.
We're simply here to tell you that this writer has put words in Way's mouth and that the singer DID NOT say what was implied here.
This is needlessly dramatic and should have never been posted as it is; since, as has been proven by previous comments, it is an inaccurate interpretation of an out-of-context quote meant to do nothing more than add to whatever pointless hate members of this website have for a band.
I think it's stupid that it offends people when someone says something about the category that a band is in. He did not say the band was bad, he said they were great rock n'roll. What difference does their genre make? it's a band, the band is good, what difference does it make if they were concidered a different genre? What is metal? What is rock n'roll? Does anybody really know anymore?
Once again you ignorant f***s have embarrassed yourselves. One, half of you don't even know the meaning of the word "emo". If you did, you wouldn't label MCR as such. Today, emo is nothing more than a haircut and a pair of jeans. In the 80's it was a true genre. Two, MCR have tons of metal influences. If you can't hear that in Ray Toro's riffs then you have no business calling yourselves metal fans. Three, who f*** says I can't be a fan of metal AND like My Chemical Romance?! Majority of you stupid f***s think you're so badass over the internet and whatnot. I'd LOVE to see you call me a "piece of sh**" or an "emo kid" to my face. Ever had your a$$ kicked by a girl? Allow me to change that.
You're f***ing serious?
1. You're a p***y for bringing down a band that you know little to nothing about. Even if you don't like their music, b****ing about them being Em0 PhhAgggEttEs only makes you look unappreaciative of music, because apparently you've only been hearing their worst single and watching their music videos.
2. Gerard Way didn't bring down Judas Priest. It's as simple as f***ing that. Stop stuffing words down the article.
3. The mcr fans aren't trolling. Besides, a fan would never take down Judas Priest. Have they yet? No.
4. The whole reason this may be on this sight is because a band, such as My Chemical Romance, is saying one of their influences is a metal band, such as JP. That's it, and you metal 'defenders' (nothing is even attacking metal) are making it what it is. Stop b****ing and grow a pair.
Get the f*** out of here and start a f***ING band, all of you!!!
Seriously! What we have here are a bunch of GROWN men fighting with some f***ing teenage girls!
On a God Damn Metal Forum!!!
Grow some f***ing balls, let the chicks have this one and move on to more manly sh** than this pathetic litte b**** fight.
You know, the sort of sh** where you might actually land a chick like me. (And believe me, I am hot. Heh, that sh** is genetic.)
And as for you, Mr. Oz, how does it feel to know your most popular blog of all time may very well be on Gerard Way's mistaken ability to communicate about one of his favorite bands? (Must suck balls to be him right now. He f***ing loves Priest.)
Come on, I've seen your work, I know you can do better.
You deserve better that this sh**.
f***, everyone involved here doe4s damn it!!!
- Some Rockstar's Bastard Daughter
(and oh yes, you have heard of him)
yea we should blame the underground staff for mentioning a p***y a$$ boy band on a Metal website (i find it funny that they took it out of context on purpose so a big laugh with Oz Diamond for making heavy metal fans try to hate mcr even more and making every fa**ot a$$ mcr fans look like fa**ots) but the sad thing is if you go to BANDS part on the website you will see Most Viewed mcr! is that taken out of context? i thought this was supposed to be Metalunderground.
You guys are so absolutely rediculous, that when something gets taken out of context about something as simple as a different opinion about which category JP should be concidered. All of you 'metal defenders' are so stupid, you conform to every step of your metal stereo-type and when your favorite 'metal' band gets name-dropped as something different then what your currently doing you all go completely nuts and need to do the same thing to My Chemical Romance as you thought they were doing to JP.
"here's what my brother says about them, and it pretty much is MY oppinion: "I hope Rob Halford runs them over with his motorcycle"
FVCK YOU MCR"
Wow. VERY mature. Look, do you know ANYTHING about MCR?
and to all those who are calling MCR "pop" well, you ALL need to F***ING GET OVER THE FACT THAT THERE IS MORE THAN ONE F***ING BAND OUT THERE THAT IS GOOD. Stop taking your problems out on people who don't deserve any of it.
HONESTLY, do you think ANYONE will take you seriously if you keep bashing something you know nothing about? My Chemical Romance isn't pop, and it's God Damn awesome if you ask me! So shut the F*** up and get a life, losers.
AGAIN! GOD I AM SICK OF ALL YOU MOTHER F***ERS HATING ON MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE BECAUSE YOU HAVE NOTHING ELSE TO DO WITH YOUR TIME! DAMMIT, IF YOU'RE GOING TO WASTE YOUR TIME TRYING TO PROVE A POINT THAT'S NOT MOTHER F***ING TRUE, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE AND DO IT! SOME PEOPLE HAPPEN TO LIKE MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE, AND THERE'S NOTHING ANY OF YOU A**HOLES CAN DO ABOUT IT! IT'S A MOTHER F***ING OPINION, DAMMIT! GOD, YOU PEOPLE F***ING AMAZE ME!
The writer of this article and the owner of the site were understanding enough to acknowledge and correct their mistake. It's done.
By trying to fight, you are making us all look bad. People will see only what they want to see and our throwing incoherent arguments against who-knows-what directly in their scope is not helping.
The opinions of those here who are throwing about homophobic slurs and displays of defensive masculinity against a band they clearly do not understand nor care about shouldn't matter.
What matters is that the FACTS have been set straight.
lmao. Seeing all the MCR fans come out of the woodwork to defend their emo idol makes me laugh. This whole discussion is boring, though.
Some Rockstar's Bastard Daughter: If you say that you're hot, you're probably not. But hey, how will we know over the internet anyway? Oh, and who cares?
All u ppl...calling MCR "fa**ots", which as per the webster dictionary means "a disparaging term for a male homosexual" I hope u ppl. do realize that if u'd look at mcr and judas priest members individually, halford is more gay than anyone else (that too by his own admission). and jp just plain suck these days. They've slowed down. I do agree at point of time they were one of the biggest acts in the world, but not n e more. MCR is here 2 stay whether u like it or not....and
PS. I think even MCR is gay!
..these arguments are ridiculous. I like JP and MCR..(of course I'm sure to alot of you that makes me a poser or something)..I don't understand why people can't listen to what they like, and enjoy it. You don't need to bash another band or style of music. Doing so doesn't prove your loyalty to "your" band or preference..it proves your ignorance and inability to see the bigger picture: music is here in many forms to touch, inspire, and entertain many different types of people. "Dissing" other bands or genres just proves you aren't worthy of the creativity that "your" bands and others try to bestow upon us (which is probably why you are sitting at home dissing on all the bands YOU don't like, instead of making a difference in the world yourself) Can't you just decide, "ok..I don't really like this band/song...I won't listen to it anymore."? Instead of having to embark on some kind of epic, inner crusade to convince any one you can that "your" band is "better." Both of the afore mentioned bands are great in their own right and there is no need to compare the two being that they are from two completely separate and distinct generations with different struggles and creative catalysts. Now, I'm gonna go listen to Breaking the Law, and follow it up with Give'em hell Kid, and you "haters" can continue living your lives under the false guise of human beings.
Post 85
Nah. Watch one of the new south park episodes.
fa**ot is no longer a term for gays. Like anything in the english language terms evolved.
Emo used to mean those crappy indie emotional bands.
Now it encompasses almost anything cacky :P
fa**ot is now just a derogatory term, and not targetting gays.
Only someone up their own a$$ (pardon the pun) would take offense to it being used and say its a slur on gays.
Looks like I owe everyone here an apology, so I sincerely apologise if I have p***ed anyone off. The source I got it from (link in the thanks bit) seemed to have taken it out of context which is all I saw from the interview. I should have researched this more before posting. Apologies to all MCR fans for making it seem like I was just using any excuse to dump on them, I can't say I like MCR but if it's your thing, then more power to you. Another fault here is that being a massive Priest fan, I only saw the (questionable) insult and reacted FAR too quickly. Once again, I'm sorry for any hurt feelings, anger and the unproffesional reporting on my part. Anyways, hope that's cleared things up.
"Yes because south park is what we should set all of our standards by..."
I can't remember the episode but it was a basically the kids were calling a pile of bikers fags, and put up signs.
People behind the times thought it was a slur on gays because of the way fa**ot was used back in their day.
Now fa**ot is just an insulting term.
Remember, fa**ot was originally a bundle of sticks :/
the main problem I have with this:
MCR IS NOT METAL!
I hate it when a band calls themselves metal(comparing themselves to a metal band, etc) and they aren't.
post 71-I know a lot about MCR. I've even listened to some of their music. It seems mainly generic emo bullsh!t to me.
and also, your swearing a hell of a lot more than me(and losing your temper to...really mature). It's not my fault that I hate MCR. I just said my oppinion
"I know a lot about MCR. I even listened to some of their music." haha I found that highly amusing. Anyyywwaaays I think that there's an awful stereotype against MCR. I'm a fan (just getting that out of the way) and I think what people do is listen to Teenagers or I'm Not Okay (among their crappier songs) when the good stuff is their first album which is pretty much straight hardcore punk with a lot of Misfits influence. To me it's pretty obvious that he wasn't trying to knock Judas Priest, but saying that their music defined an era and that was the inspiration for their next album. The guy's been covered in baby puke for the past 6 months anyway, cut him some slack.
Oz-
Number 1 rule of journalism: Never say anything without giving the source. That way people can't get p***ed at you.
But, 'Metal Hammer' is at fault here, for sure. As a magazine, they should know better.
PS:
How does it feel to know your article showed up as the original rather than the actual original? Ha!
All issues of whether there was an insult or not in the interview (I don't really care - I appreciate what Judas Priest has done for metal but I don't particularly enjoy their music), I do feel the need to comment on the ridiculous comments denying that My Chemical Romance is an emo band. My Chemical Romance is the very definition of a whiny emo band that appeals mainly to angsty teenagers. I don't have a problem with people liking their music, as I like plenty of stuff that other metal heads hate, but don't try to make them sound like something they aren't.
And before people start furiously typing in all caps that I'm judging without listening or that I only like (insert negatively perceived band here) and therefore don't have a valid opinion - let me state for the record that I'm in a uniquely perfect position to pass judgment on My Chemical Romance and it's connection to metal. Besides the fact that I review metal for a living, I've also heard the entire My Chemical Romance discography extensively, as my wife loves them. The fact that they tried to lift ideas from Queen on "The Black Parade" album doesn't make them "post hardcore" or "power-anthem metal" or any other absurd genre definition that's been thrown around on this post, it just makes them an unoriginal whiny emo band.
LOL at this whole thread, one of the most hilarious ones on the MU this year...
^45 truth and validity is gay, change your craft to "suspension of disbelief" maybe people will take you more serious
^62 i ll start a band, i dont give a sh!t...blindgreed lead vocals, shredder lead guitar, 420 trash cans/beer kegs aka shawn crahan role, hammerheart learn bass, mick shrimpton drums, oz can be the band manger aka " liam" and ill be the guy that runs out on stage that picks up micstands or beer bottles thrown at the band...whats the big deal.....
^Oz thanks alot mate for mutating this rash of mcr people on the MU...LOL
To all mcr fans, they re not metal, so if they get cyberhammered on a metal site you should expect it and not try to justify it
honestly, i'm a fan of BOTH bands. Gerard is complimenting Judas Priest, not questioning them! Does it honestly matter what genre Gerard considers them after all? I dont care if people here dont like MCR, thats your opinion! I dont care if you dont like Judas Priest, again, thats your opinion! We're arguing over a genre of music - does it matter!?
I don't understand how a band making it public that they have changed their sound for their upcoming album is all for attention.
I didn't mean to sound dramatic or hostile in my previous post, so sorry about that, but i think we all just get tired of hearing it and always having to defend ourselves on the topic.
I know that the majority of you are not fan bashers, and it doesn't bother me at all whether you hate the band or not. But please stop referring to us all as emo and all just cause we enjoy MCR's music...I am probably one of the furthest from being classified as emo. We really do not have any idea what has happened in the lives of those who can be classified as emo....does that make it alright to do the thinggs they do, to be the be the way they are? i Don't know, its not my place to judge them cause i until
we live in their footsteps we really have no idea. (Thats where my issue lies really with this whole clash between whoever and MCR, thats just me)
...so i apologize if i have insulted anyone in my previous message
This article should be taken down, if not rewritten. It's not going to blow away in a week.. especially since MCR fans never back down, even if they are the most hated fans on earth. Even if it's been fixed, it's still going to be misinterpreted, which is going to still piss off Priest and MCR fans. Whether you like anyone's music or not, Gerard Way was complimenting Priest for breaking the metal mold. That's it, oi.
hey dont diss hot topic! its the only place in town to get a cannibal corpse shirt around here... and secondly on the reasoning why a majority of this site hates emos has nothing to do with this article, its always been like that, honestly do we need a reason? why do palastinians and israeli's fight? f*** if i know. all i know is the day the metal revolution comes i'll feel alot better knowing my sawed off shotgun is loaded. f*** EMO!!!!!!!!!
hey bro i did not say anything about the hot topic store at all. i was talking about the website homepage when you first open it up it has articles with flames next to them and plus i said this article alone has brought many Emos to the website (or mcr fans to be specific) i already know thats not the reason why people hate them but it give us another reason to.
Listening to Judas Priest isn't just about music It is f***in Lifestyle Lyrics, Tunes, Hellraiser Voice & Vocal of Rob Halford, f*** MCR, Stupid fa**ots. For f***sake, What a d***head likes this kinda sh** anyway? Those who buy this sh** kinda music just Shutdaf***up dumbass simpltons it ain't music Faggy notes, Faggy Lyrics, Babe Baby Bullsh**. f***'em All.
Wow! If there was ever a time for a band I hate to go out and publicly humiliate themselves, there couldn't have been a better time. Imagine what album sales they generate now? Why would you go out and say anything negative about a band as legendary as they are? That's like saying "George Strait isn't country!" or "Snoop Dogg isn't rap!" What were they thinking? What were they on? I need some of that sh**!!!
f*** that. If you play guitar music, Judas Priest is influencing you. Whether you love them or hae them, and whether you realize it or not. And with all due respect, you may call MCR gay, but let's face it. Nothing is gayer than Rob Halford...and I ADORE Priest.
It's true that MCR fans won't back down. They think they have to have the last word no matter how stupid they seem. I was a fan way back in 05 (hey, I was 14, sue me) and I know from experience that you can't criticize their pwecious Gewaawwd or they'll come after you with torches and kindling or a lynching rope. Did anyone see them burning copies of the Daily Mail at their "protest" in London? They don't approve of free speech when their little band is involved.
Crazy, the lot of them. So glad I outgrew that sh*t.
Proof, you know nothing about the 'lifestyle' that mcr influences, so I'd f***ing shut up.
And since you're wondering who actually listens to them, the majority are teenagers and young adults, most who aren't c***y douchebags, b**** and whine for what they believe in, and are persistent unless they're 18 or older.
You're a whiny b**** for posting how big of fa**ots they are. Gerard sucks way more d*** than David Cassidy, we all f***ing know that. But he also just had a kid with his wife, writing a comic book, and is making a record. Hundreds of people, boys and girls, b****y and not, emo or not, ages 11-28, love this guy and his music.
Soo. I think you're losing, man.
"Judas Priest is considered metal, but it’s great rock n roll"
I'm not an mcr fan, but I don't see what's so terribly offensive about this comment. Heavy Metal IS true Rock 'n Roll, after all, even if this dude doesn't know his a$$ from a hole in the ground when it comes to GOOD music.
Fire away.
Wow I wonder what these guys are doing, discretely ripping on metal legends who define the genre...hmm, could they possibly be doing what bands like this do best, which is building interest?
Not gonna lie I read like, the last 5 comments I don't have time to read all 125, but hey, probably 60 different people commented on it on this site, including me. That's just this site though, and there are probably thousands of people who didn't know them , who have now heard the name, My Chemical Romance.
They're doing it for publicity, something which I straight up don't understand.
Admittedly, I did not read all of the comments posted. In fact, I did not read beyond the 1st 2 or 3, but I have to ask WTF that MCR has to do with METAL? NOTHING. JP have been around for a long time and deserve respect, but MCR???? Please f*cking shoot me in the face if the people who love Metal are actually in the Give A F*ck catagory on this. I am ashamed to even be commenting on this kind of story line, truth be told. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE keep the air clean of such lowly, non-news-worthy BS as MCR, or I shall be forced to kick the sh!t out of my dog in retaliation.....
I'm clueless at to what this Chemical/Gerard fellow was actually saying: was he saying their Metal and JUDAS PRIEST are Rock N Roll and are strong enough to be called Metal. What a Jerkface: JUDAS PRIEST "IS" Heavy Metal and Heavy Hard Rock that paved "many" paths for bands/and future bands to delve in. That's an insult...'this Chemical fellow better apology or else some "Hell Bent for Leather and Jaw Breaker" is coming his way, sooon! I liked what #6 said, I totally agree. Peace!
I like MCR. Really, I was confused at how there wasn't a single song on Three Cheers that DIDN'T catch my attention, so I'm kinda on the fence with this one. I DO know, however, that I probably wouldn't be listening to metal if it wasn't for Screaming For Vengeance. To me, this is like Taylor Swift saying Metallica isn't metal. They're wrong, and we all know it. Stupid comment made by an underappreciative crybaby. But that's their gig. I know better than to believe him, though. It's like MCR is this generation's Queen. So all in all, who cares? Regardless of how much I like his band, right is right, and everything else is wrong. Priest FTW. Priest will also FMCR.
This is silly. You people are silly. And its amusing that everyone one of you think you are soo clever and soo in the know as to whats rock, whats heavy and whats cool. You continue to come back and defend your posts and your bands as if your opinion really matters to someone whos opinion doesnt matter to you. Both Priest and Romance are Rock bands. They both write songs about life, hardships, sex, drugs, and all that stuff. Calling yourself hardcore because you like one as opposed to the other, or calling someone a fa**ot because they like the other, is childish and very narrow minded. You are not hardcore, you're losers and misinformed "rebels." A true rock aficionado or rebel would stand and defend both of these bands for what they bring to the table of rock n roll. Your band would defend the band you're bashing. Rock n Roll should defend itself and each other, remember its us against them. Not us against each other against them. There is a very stupid and narrow minded civil war within the rock community that will not do anything but hinder the genre and hinder the cause. The very first lyric of the first song by MCR is, "You're not in this alone.." A statement that should inspire and unite us all, but instead falls flat on ignorant ears. It's a shame that no one understands that. And still, these bands continue to tour and put out music in hopes of inspiring you!? Lets face it, they don't need the money..they're doing it for you, and you spit back in their faces and repeatedly shame the genre. These bands should be ashamed of their fans, but instead, they continue to give you the benefit of the doubt. They strive to evoke the true spirit of rock n roll within you. But hey, some of you may say I'm getting too deep into it. And maybe you're right. In a hundred years we're all gonna be dead, and no one's gonna care whos side you were on. I guess I'd just rather leave the name of rock with some shred of dignity and integrity. Now go ahead and call me a fa**ot so you can prove me right.
I wasn't necessarily defending MCR or Priest..I was defending rock in general. MCR doesn't "suck" at all, at least no more than JP. (<Everyone freak out) I won't really get into this so deeply this time because I don't think anyone is ever going to "get it." And I'm ok with that; I'm kind of glad most people don't. Its like when you first discover rock music: you know most people won't get it and will shun you for it, and while you'd like everyone to understand, its kind of comforting that they don't. I try not to criticize any music out there, I too sometimes look at certain bands or artists and think, "really!?"..however, I simply just don't listen to what I don't like, I don't freak out on anyone who does happen to enjoy their music because its unnecessary and no one will ever win. I could say that metal is just a bunch of noise and stupid, dismal, lyrics and grunts that don't make any sense..(which would be stereotyping much like what is constantly done with "emo" music) but if I thought such thinks I'd keep it to myself. I enjoy metal, and what you would consider "emo" (which really isn't emo at all but that's another drawn out verbal scuffle I don't care to get into) Point is..Liking a certain band really shouldn't result in such scrutiny. ..And these bands deserve much more respect than any of us and our stupid opinions.
Rebels, point taken I suppose. While this is a place to voice our opinions about the music we love- or hate- Everyone's entitled to their own, and each person's opinion only matters to them. Attacking one another because of musical tastes is pointless. That being said- DIE MCR :-)
Jesus, man, sounds like you guys need to go listen to some MCR and work out all that anger and sh** you got rollin around in those empty a$$ skulls of yours. You complain about MCr whining and crying, yet here you are whining and crying about them whining and crying and when someone tells you how dumb you all sound what do you do? You whine and cry while whining and crying about how nobody is allowed to whine and cry about MCR whining and crying! What a bunch of f***ing idiots. No wonder metalheads get a bad rap. You all are like the next f***ing socialist nazis! Grow up! Just because you don't like something doesn't mean it has no right to exist. Get over yourselves.
