"some music was meant to stay underground..."

Amalgama Issues Studio Recording Update

New York metallers Amalgama have issued the following recording update:

"Friends, I ascended from the depths of the WRPI studio in Troy, NY following an interview with the venerable Russ Jones on his Local Riot program. He was gracious enough to spin a load of Amalgama songs along with some Bishop (and a whole lot more local music) and gave me plenty of time to extol on the virtues of attending our HARD TIMES show on December 19th at Bogies, our last show of 2009 before we really hone in on writing and finishing this album.

"There has been some coverage on the interwebs from the Times Union with more on the way I’m sure. We have always had friends in high places who take a genuine interest in what we are doing and we cannot express our appreciation enough. This HARD TIMES show is for a good cause: to help those who are having a difficult time this holiday season.

"We are still hard at work with our new songs and I have to tell you that I am beyond excited for the way they are coming out. Working titles are 'Amethyst,' 'Forsaken Soldiers,' 'Spirits of the Dead,' 'Immoveable Unstoppable,' and 'Large & In Charge' among others. Some will change, others won’t. However, I think I speak for the whole band when I say that these tunes are the next natural step in the evolution of Amalgama.

"In other exciting Amalgama news, we have joined Twitter. Our exposure to this social networking phenomenon has been very limited but we made the final step in catching up with the rest of the modern world (even though I find our high-tech outreach generally up to snuff). Make us feel loved by following us at this location.

"If you are going to be in the Capital Region just before Christmas, don’t hesitate to come on out for an excellent show with a lot of great bands. RSVP on Facebook here if you plan on coming! Don’t forget that ever-important can of non-perishable can of food as well."
