Site Update
Metalunderground.com Is On Twitter
We're on Twitter now at twitter.com/metalundergroun (yes, that 15 character limit does suck!). We've plugged our news and reviews feeds in there, so if you are just on Twitter a lot, prefer it over RSS, or use it on your mobile phone, you can now subscribe to our updates by following us on Twitter. We'll be making additional updates and posting Twitter-specific contests there in future in addition to the regular news and reviews.
We've also placed "retweet" buttons after our news articles. Twitter users, please share articles you like and help get the word out there about Metalunderground.com, your metal news site of choice.

I don't, and won't have Twitter, but how is this selling out? It's a -NEWS- site. Twitter is a social networking application of some sort. People... News.... People... News... I'm sorry, what's the f***ing problem here?
Hurts that the d got cut off tho. Unlucky.
Anyone who says "twitter is silly" and refuses to use it is just holding on to old ways.
Like it or not, twitter is phasing out RSS feeds (or do you even know what THAT is?) for most people. It's how modern people GET their news now. This is a good thing, and has the potential to increase your site traffic.
For people who don't like it, it's like saying that using ebay 10 years ago was "selling out." Those idiots came around eventually, too. Stop resisting change, old farts.
I'm not a big fan of Twitter myself, but there is a segement of the population who has really adopted the technology - mostly the on-the-go, mobile segment.
On one hand, people say you shouldn't just feed it your RSS, and on the other hand there is a high noise to signal ratio with people updating about the dumbest little details many time per day.
I have actually resisted getting on Twitter for some time and I cringe when I hear the local news promoting their Twitter channel, like they have a clue. But I decided to get on there to give Twitter users another way to get our news and be in contact with Metalunderground.com.
If any actual Twitter users (as opposed to haters who don't use it) have feedback or comments, feel free to hit me up, as I'm open to suggestions.
I'd probably get a Twitter account... if it wasn't called such a stupid bloody name. I mean, come on, seriously? Twitter?? Get bent.
I have, however, nothing bad to say about mu being on there. Good move, in fact. I don't know how many of those on-the-go yuppy types listen to metal, but I'm sure there's at least some on there that would.
twitter rules people that hate twitter are gay..."ha ha ha the fatboy smelled the hotdog and went right in" i just wanted to stir up some sh** because im all out of weed and i wanted to see action... i dont even know what twitter is but i do wonder why would someone go to twitter to get the metalunderground news why not just come here? ps im a member thts to lazy to sign in.. ill send a digital smiley face if anyone can find out...twitter is a gay name though
I'm assuming that the majority of Twitter users are yuppies since there's that whole 'Tweet from your iPhone' nonsense. I did say that I have no idea about the metalhead contingency of Twitter... As far as I'm concerned, metalheads can be technophiles, but rarely are they yuppies. Or at least, I havn't yet met a yuppie metalhead. Go right ahead and correct me tho.
We have around 150 followers in just a few days, so there are people out there on Twitter who are interested in metal. They don't have to already be a member here - it does help to reach out to find members elsewhere as well. That's the point of the whole social networking aspect of the web these days.
Did you know that Metalunderground.com was one of the first metal new sites to implement an RSS feed? At the time, only techies used RSS. It's still not totally adopted by the masses, but a lot more people (5600 for MU!) use it and prefer to follow the site that way rather than visiting every day. There's just not enough time in the day to visit every site. I would not keep up with any sites if I didn't have RSS...
