Division Posts Studio Update and New Song, "Perfect Little Slave," Online

Virginia metal band Division has issued the following studio update:

"The new album is on the home stretch now, with Mike buried in his basement mixing. We learned a lot about what to do (and what not to do) along the way, so hopefully the next one won’t take five years. Well, unless James loses and arm or I die of a massive drug overdose."

"I know it is pretty common for bands to say how excited they are about the material, and how it is the best thing they’ve ever done, so I’ll try to refrain from gushing like a school girl. I will say that this is the first Division album that involved the entire band in the writing process, so it is far more diverse and reflective of the individual tastes of all five of us. The songs took far less time to write then they did to capture them, and we’ve had to work hard to perform them live, since we often wrote beyond where we were at at the time. I know that I personally have learned a lot about recording along the way, and for all the frustrations, it has been a blast. And just wait until you see the album cover."

"You can also check out a new tune, 'Perfect Little Slave,' on MySpace. It is an uplifting song of hope and redemption. There is an entire Baptist choir on it. The orchestral sections where composed and directed by Michael Kamen, resurrected by an African witch doctor. Listening to it in its entirety will make your face melt off, just like at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark. It has been declared a weapon of mass destruction by the UN Security Counsel, so catch it before the military raids Mike’s basement."
