Katatonia Postpone Brave Yesterdays
Sweden's Katatonia have suspended the release of Brave Yesterdays for an unspecified period of time.
"It would have been pretty much stupid and suicidal in the yet over-saturated market to release simultaneously a best-of together with a new album," states label Avantgarde Music. "This doesn't mean that the enthusiasm on the project has turned down: in the contrary, time will now be used to get rid of much more material from the past of the band."
The delays, however, will help the group re-think Brave Yesterdays, making it not just a release but a "definitive" release for Katatonia fans. So far, the group has promised lots of old pictures and rarities. Avantgarde Music says that the project may, in fact, be released as a double album.
In related news, guitarist Anders Nyström (aka Blakkheim) will assemble the follow-up to Diabolical Masquerade's Death's Design after his commitments with Katatonia are fulfilled. No word on music style or direction, but the release is heading for an early 2004 release.
We'll have more news on Katatonia and Brave Yesterdays as it becomes available. Stay tuned.
