Brazilian metallers Shadowside has issued the following announcement about canceling their show in Huntington:

"Well... some REAL suck news tonight. We took off for our acoustic show at Hot Topic in Charleston, WV at 10:00 AM. After a brunch stop we got to the gig at the mall at around 3:30. We put in a nice set and found out very little promotion (if any at all) was done for the show at Tequila Rocks in Huntington, WV, since there were fans that didn’t even know we would be playing in town yesterday. They asked about the show and we told them it would be going off around 10. We knew we had a couple fans coming in from Michigan and Cincinnati and we had a lot of people email us saying they would be at Tequila Rocks.

"As luck would have it, at 4:35 PM our manager called us with the news that Tequila Rocks was cancelling the show. Oddly enough, 2 days before our agent informed our manager that Tequila Rocks lost their liquor license. So 'Sweet Lou' contacted a few people and got the venue owners phone number. Seems the rumor of lost liquor license WAS NOT TRUE, BUT supposedly venue ownership or some other bullshit did take place. Sweet Lou called Rick on Saturday and was assured everything was a go for Sunday.

"Now HOW or WHY was the show cancelled is anyone’s guess. I do know one thing… WE WERE THERE and wanted to play. We would have played for FREE out of respect to the people that showed up, but were told there were NO BARTENDERS, NO SOUND ENGINEER, NO LIGHT TECH, etc to make a show happen. However, a show DID happen last night and we just found out about it this morning.

"It turns out some of our fans showed up for OUR show only to PAY FULL PRICE and were NEVER told WE WEREN’T PLAYING. They had to find out after the show since we obviously did NOT play. We were LIED to and we want YOU all to know that WE WERE THERE. It’s shit like this that makes a woman to WAKE UP SCREAMING! Subtle Fall, our support band, was ready to rock, SHADOWSIDE was ready to rock, but it seems people had OTHER motivations.

"This is ridiculous to us. IF you went to the show please email us. IF you have your ticket stub from this show we will honor it at ANY of our shows of YOUR CHOICE. Just EMAIL us and we’ll take care of it for you. Please accept OUR apologies for something that was NOT in our control. It makes us feel like shit, while it makes good honest venues and promoters LOOK LIKE SHIT!

"However this only makes us rock ALL THE HARDER! Get your horns sharpened because we aren’t gonna stop! Like our manager says… try all you want, but you CAN’T KILL HEAVY METAL!"

I am sorry to hear about the sorry a$$ bar TEQUILA ROCKS. We (my band N / V ) were there the night before and got the same treatment, only we were given $50 and told we had to leave by a drunk-ass elmer fudd - head of security- wanna-be. The owner RICK didnt explain anything and wanted to charge the band $2 for a water after screwing the band out of $500. We drove 2 1/2 hours to get there, with NO advertising, did what we came there to do and essentially got thrown out. The bar met part of the contract with food (2 little ceasar pizzas) and drinks (6 bottles of water) the beer on the rider was only a 12 pack, but Rick felt the need to ask the bartender what was the cheapest beer that they had A LOT of (after being told that they had a lot of bud and bud light) to give the band. We are professionals, and were willing to work with the bar, but the option to come to some kind of agreement - even though we had a contract- was taken when the bouncer was sent in to give us 10% of the contract, and wanted to start a fight to get us to leave. Sorry a$$ management. I played the bar back when it was the monkey bar, and the place rocked! Sam, the sound engineer is a great guy and a great engineer, but the problem lies with Rick. And now it is going to lie with Rick and our attourney. Avoid this place at all costs!
