In a recent interview with the Boston Herald, Heaven & Hell/Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi spoke on a number of subjects from riffs and volumes, to the success of Heaven & Hell. He revealed in the interview that the band may well change the set list up a little next year by adding some material from the Ozzy Osbourne era of Black Sabbath.

“We love ‘War Pigs’ and ‘Iron Man’ and ‘Paranoid’ but we’ve played those for 40 years so it’s been a nice change," he stated, "Maybe next year we’ll do some of the old stuff."

Actually, they've done this in the past on a little record called Live Evil, so to say that "Dio wouldn't let this happen" is absolute rubbish. "Hardcore fans" should already know this. More importantly, the Live Evil versions of the songs mentioned seemed almost like a mockery of the material, which is something I wouldn't put passed them right now with all of the legal problems Sharon has caused with the band.

BlindGreed- Good point, but that was in like '81 so the band probably felt that they had to appease the fans who would seen the real Ozzy live in the seventies. With this current line-up, they reformed with the intention of performing only Dio era songs, so I think it is unlikely that they will play the "Ozzfest" set list. But then again anything is possible. Personally I would prefer if they didn't, as I think the Dio albums are just as good anything they did with Mr. Sharon Osbourne.

Bruno: I enjoyed Dio's version of Children of The Grave, and i've also heard him do a serious rendition of War Pigs which kicked ass, but I personally believe that Tony is just rattling Sharon's chain. It's more likely that you'd see them do something from Holy Diver or even some old Rainbow material. I'd lean towards the latter because Ritchie and Tony are tight like that.

Cynic: You still staeside or are you back in the land where the men are men and the sheep are nervous? lol.

BlindGreed- I definately agree brother. I was thinking that if they do end up doing any non Dio era Sabbath songs let them do COTG or some obscure tracks from the seventies back catalog.
I would bust a nut if they played some Rainbow tunes....or imagine if they did a song like "Don't Talk to Strangers". That sh** would be epic!

i thought the whole reason they chose the name heaven and hell instead of black sabbath was to DIFFERENTIATE them from ozzy-era sabbath. that way, when people went to concerts they would not expect things like "paranoid", "iron man", "war pigs". it's surprising to me that iommi has changed his mind on this point.

Bruno: Definately. I'd love to hear Tony bust Vivians nuts on that tune. I'm sure Dio would even get a kick out of seeing campbell cringe as the master shreds his origional solo.

Spiral: See the other H&H thread for an explanation. I can't bring myself to type it again.
