British hard rock legends Deep Purple has announced that they will begin recording their next studio album next February. Lead vocalist Ian Gillan stated: "I think we are ready to make another album. We’ve been talking about it for some time already. I think we’ll start to work on it next February."

"We go into the studio with absolutely nothing, no music or lyrics whatsoever. We sit in the kitchen, having some cup of tea, talk about families and football… Then we go into the room and play; six hours a day. After three days, some ideas begin to shape and we start to turn them into songs. To prepare the main lines takes about three weeks, to deal with lyrics, recording process and mixing also take two weeks. Since there have been many technological developments recently and we use them by recording the music in analog and mix it in digital to achieve the best result."

maybe if you guys got straight to the point instead of fooling around drinking coffee and shooting the breeze in the studio you would start writing classic music again. who is the guitarist going to be this time around? i doubt it's blackmore. probably some blackmore-wannabe. in fact, i think the only memeber of the band who has been a constant on all albums is jon lord!

Jon Lord isn't the band anymore, he left several years ago. Steve Morse is the band the guitarist that replaced Blackmore, he's been there since the early 90s. I saw them in 2006 and they were great. Last album was a good one too.

I'd knew there'd be a new DP album! It's about time for a new one and I'm hoping it's gonna be as good as Machine Head.

Rychemn, actually Soccer is the Only Real Football, mate! :) I´ve liked DP with Steve Morse, but it just has to be said that all these veteran bands are.... Ok, lets say this nicely: All these veteran bands are not making the best albums of their careers these days.

Just for the record though, I played both sports in high school........I ended up breaking more bones in American football......and got the crap kicked out of my shins and legs in the other!!!!

Hey you guys, this is about DP's next album, not about Football (yes, Football or Futbol, as we say). I think it'll be interesting, but I have to say it: for their own sake, it must be damn good. Otherwise, they will be disapointing a lot of people (again, perhaps?).
P.S.: shoulder pads?!?! why don't you try to play some good old rugby...then tell me how do you feel

Yup sure did, at camp for five years..........but our counselors would only let us get so rough but we didn't care, we got down and dirty, it pretty much made up my mind to play American football in later years..........as for DP 's new album, I saw them on the "Perfect Strangers Tour" up in MD at merriweather post pavilion, excellent record but their follow up one "House of Blue Light" was terrible, so I do hope this one is better.......I've had several of their albums on vinyl......all the best to these guys.

NP......Rush.....The Trees.

They have been making some good music since Steve Morse joined in '95. So I'm sure the next one will be good too.
