11 Metal Covers Of Michael Jackson Songs: A Non-Tribute

Band Photo: Guns N Roses (?)
We figured we'd wait until you're thoroughly sick of hearing about Michael Jackson's death before posting our own article. Inspired by Metalunderground.com reader Gorecunt's Facebook note, I've compiled a list of metal Michael Jackson covers from YouTube, some more serious than others. While Jacko really has nothing to do with metal, some of our readers may still have enjoyed his music. Please raise your hands to be banned (just kidding). As such, this is all purely for fun, regardless what you think of him. Eleven metal(ish) covers of Michael Jackson songs can be seen below (with a couple of bonuses as well), after the jump.
Raintime covers "Beat It"
Jameson covers "Beat It"
Northern Kings covers "They Don't Really Care About Us"
Alien Ant Farm covers "Smooth Criminal"
Raunchy covers "Somebody's Watching Me" (filling in only Rockwell's parts with Michael Jackson's chorus still in-tact)
Bobaflex Covers Michael Jackson
Redline Covers "Thriller" on Music As A Weapon Tour in New Zealand
My Endeavour covers "Dirty Diana"
Ten Masked Men covers "Beat It"
A Doom metal cover
A Black Metal Cover of "Beat It"
And a couple of bonus links:
Manitou covers "Beat It" (embedding disabled)
As previously reported, Periphery posted a more honest tribute by covering "Black or White."
And, finally, Slash's live solo performing with Michael Jackson (full video available here - embedding disabled):

I gotta admit, some of these covers are really good. These are great tributes to Michael from the metal community. And to be honest I'm not sick of the coverage yet lol, I've actually been listening to his music from time to time lately. So I raise my hand DB lol :P!
I've always liked Alien Ant Farm's version myself, as for the other covers, it just goes to show you how influentual Michael was, one can never take that away from him. Now for all those other things, who am I to judge.......Thanks for all the music over the years.....
NP....Megadeth...Rust in Peace!!!!
"Only in America, can a poor black boy, grow up to die a rich white woman"
---That was the motivational in my note.
For the record, I really don't think he molested those kids (Copypasta from comments from my facebook note):
YOURS TRULY: I never thought he did. An eccentric who wanted to make up for the childhood he didn't have, yes. But I genuinely never thought he was a pedophile. He only had two cases where parents made a sh** about any of it. And the first case got settled out of court (Big payoff), while the second one, as we all remember, the JURY found him innocent.
First off, if I was a parent and you molested my kids, there would be no settlement out of court, no matter how much money. Actually, if I was the father of the child in the first case and knew for a fact that he molested MY CHILD, the only news headlines would've been: "Michael Jackson murdered by angry father at age 34." and someone like me wouldn't be making a facebook about it since he died in '93. That, and the father in question was quoted saying "If I go thru with this, I'm gonna win big!"
And the second case that did go to trial, you can't say 12 people are stupid. And you can't say all 12 were Michael Jacksion fans either.
And another thought:
Euronymous and Quorthon were the two that shaped Black Metal to be what it is today. What about Dimebag Darell? His guitar work was (still is) just awesome! sh**, what about Chuck Schuldiner? Chuck was, literally, GOD ON A GUITAR! If you're gonna do all this for Michael Jackson for being the king of pop, why don't you show respect and honor and love for the GODS of METAL?
AUSTIN ROONEY: I like how CNN and the other news networks replaced news on Iran with this. Especially when they have "developing story" written as the subheadline. What's going to develop?? He's dead!!
BRENDAN MCALOON: And like Austin said, it's ridiculous how the attention focused on important things transferred from that to trivial sh** like deaths. Iran is going crazy, and North Korea is threatning to fire nukes on us, and the attention is focused on one mans death. America truly has the best priorities.
Hey Godlike, I have been posting often on the site but I guess not in the posts where you hang out. Like I said, I now avoid the threads that are adding 2000000000000 posts per second because I don't know what the f*** is going on and I find that frustrating.
Otherwise everything is fine except that I have to suffer the mood swings of a pregnant women and it is worse than the first time...that's quite funny actually but I have learned not to LOL because that can put you in deep poop.
Now as far as Mickeal Jackson goes, he did do great things WAY back then but people calling him a god or an Icon...WTF ? He's gone, get over it, the world is still the same, and more important people die every day but you don't hear about them...
""Alien Ant Farm's cover is underrated" - Underrated? From what I remember when it came out you couldn't turn on the tv or radio without hearing it." - hmm really? I don't remember it being that much everywhere. also i was in reference to being underrated in the metal community. also i'm sure in today's world someone says alien ant farm and people are like who?
that alien ant farm song was DEFINITELY not underated it recieved huge airplay, it became really annoying thank god it went away. as for michael jackson, he was definitely weird and he did love kids, but not in the sense the c*** media portayed. he was in the limelight from a very young age and missed out on his childhood because of all the attention and work he had to do. i think he was just trying to make up for that by the way he lived as an adult and it definitely woulda contributed to f***ing him up. but he was undeniably a great performer, its a shame ppl swallowed that crap from the media because the world has lost a character that cant be replaced. its a shame this happened as his comeback tour was to happen, it would have been nice for him to settle his debt and maybe even cop some positive press even for once (doubt that tho).
I will go into this further when I have a tad more time at a real comp, but I will say one thing: FVCK MICHALE JACKSON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! His music sucked, his attutude one life was deplorable *Waaaaahhhhh waaaahhhhhh! Daddy didn't love me waaaaaaahhhhhhhh waaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!* I am so glad that that sicko is dead! Good riddence, dipsh**!
RTB: Real "African Americans" (actually from Africa who now live in America legally), take offence to black americans calling themselves "African Americans", so I find it best to stick with Black Americans. It just so happens that my sister is an "African American". I can easily see her point.

BG...touchet...
It was more or less a cheap comedy bit on my part to get laughs.....in a way...know a few AAs, or BAs and they dont give a sh!t what or how you spin it, very cool about it, it seems the ones involved in the media or entertainment, or the naacp are the ones most sensitive to it, but its okay to use the term "white boy/girl" " honkeys" or "rednecks"....classic...
Bg was wondering what you guys had planned for a rendition or tribute to mj and his legacy on your next lp...scream? Blood on the dance floor? Bad? You are not alone?.....knowing your feelings about the whole thing i thought maybe you could do a cover of dark humors " die like christ"...might be right up your alley......ya ya i know, i hear it......nothing but crickets
Cheers bg

I see what you're saying, but the reason awesome people like that aren't honored is cuz they're not mainstream; they were not well known figures who were displayed on T.V/ who's music was aired on the local radio for all to hear (perhaps with the exception of Dimebag...sorry, I wasn't around til '92). The point, most Metal Gods we know of are not ones who topped the charts with everyone. Just put it this way: EVERYONE on this planet that strolls with the mainstream has heard the name Micheal Jackson. Tell someone random about Quorthon and they'll most likely be like, "Who?"

AGREED ALL THE WAY on this; the amount of coverage on people's deaths are fukkin ridiculous.

Gorec*** i agree with you about mj trying to make up for his childhood but what about him giving kids Jesus juice?
But i fully know what you mean about Chuck Schuldiner his music should be heard and recognized
and with Iran and North Korea those guys just need to go maybe America should continue its manifest destiney and take those two countrys
you know the oxyclean guy billy may's death had more of an impact on me than that michael jackson douch, and he didnt even write thriller he was just the puppet who sang and danced it and greats like the Chuck who wrote everything on there albums and were obviously BRILLIANT musicians, and facemelters like dimebag and the crazy mother f***ers from mayhem that started the fire for the most evil of metal are treated as just another common person, and a pediphile who holds infants over balconys is an "icon".
but you know if i went to the grocery store with a michael jackson shirt or britney spears shirt im sure everybody there would recognize it and relate to it and i would just be another one of the herd, and being an introverted anti-social hermit i would probobly end up shooting myself, but instead i walk in with a cannible corpse shirt or something gorey of the likes and nobody has a clue what the f*** it is leaving me my solitude, and kinda of freaking them out and in the case that someone does recognize what it is, its like ive just met someone who sees the world as i do. i like to think of it as metal being a brotherhood of outcasts where as the pop culture is just an opiate for the masses to keep them from questioning the powers that be, as we metalers do, and maybe that leaves the world a little safer have hordes of passified cows and gives me room to do my thang - by myself
so, i say let the news jabber on about michael jackson and let everyone mooo in sorrow because it only shows me who i should have respect for and who's opinion is worthless to me.
i rlly think it's time to move on from the creep and rmbr the others who died like farrah and billy, but most importantly, those 6 soldiers who died recently while we were supposedly backing out of iraq and they were gunned down. sometimes this country makes me sick.
\m/ heaven shall burn - "murderers of the murderers" \m/
man ive just been so busy with getting a house, 2 new puppies, playing gigs, losing a drummer i just havent had time to talk my sh**, but since jackoff died ive wanted to talk sh** about his a$$ so bad i had to come to the one only place to do it! but i never stoped checkin for metal news, this has got to be the best got damn site for metal news, its simple to the point and has a sh**ton of info everyday about all kinds of bands, half of them ive never heard of. sh** i look at the news and ill check out some of the names i dont know and ive found about 20 or 30 bands that are f***ing off the wall awesome. cheers to metalunderground.com!
Gore: As good as it can go my friend. I know you are a frequent rider on the Metro, so I got a little concerned about you last week. Especially when you hadn't posted in a while. It's good to see you are upright and walking after all that. I often wondered when I was riding the metro when and where that was going to happen (never if because of the way those fvckers drove).
NP: The Anti-Christ - Slayer
No, I'm not tired of hearing about fame Music Artist MICHAEL JACKSON: I'm quite remorseful/sad that someone so incrediablely talented had such an untimely death...'very sad tradgedy what took place as he was about to embark on a comeback recording & Worldtour. I realize there's much mix emotions on our like's & dislikes on this great Icon Music Artist Michael Jackson in whom started out his great Music History Career with the legendary MOTOWN Label w/his brothers in The JACKSON 5: which those are personally my favorite memories of him as well as his famous Solo Career but in later yrs something went amist/something troubleing him on personal & private levels and he was always a taggart for the media press. Life in the Hollywood Spotlight is nerve wrecking..'always on the edge it seems. Anyway, those are some pretty impressive vidio's rather or not they be a Tribute to the KING Of Pop MICHAEL JACKSON: some I found quite groovin' like Raintime "Beat It" & Norther Kings "They Don't Really Care About Us" some very heavy lyrics in that painful song..and Michael Jackson expressed his self quite passionately well in those songs/all of his Soul Classics are masterpieces. I'm a big MOTOWN fan so I hope no one holds that againts me for I grow up listerning to such great music Artists/bands/groups that made that legendary Label a grand success & it's a American History Trademark. Rest in sweet harmony MICHAEL JACKSON you are truelly an incrediable human being & Music Artist. Much respects to the JACKSON Family & my deepest condolence in your lost. Peace & God Bless!
Gore: True, but you can't deny ever having that feeling (is this the one that winds up on the news tonight?) on the Metro. lol. I had some close calls on the metro myself.
The only thing i'll try to remember about Michael is that he had Kerry King in his video with hair and the huge spiked gauntlets. I don't even remember which song it was but I remember picking up the remote to change the channel and then picking my jaw back up off the ground.
It's kindof funny cause my dad's birthday was going great for him until he found out that both Farrah fawcett and Michael Jackson died that morning. :P Poor bastard.
And glad to see the americanpatriot again on here. Hows it hangin chap?
BTW, speaking of "people who have been scarce for one reason or another", Where the f*** is Netromancer? i havent seen that mega-eloquent douche for a while now.
Now Playing: Man Must Die- March of the Clones
Maybe he like country now and doesnt want anything to do with us ignorant satanist baby-blood drinkers(metalheads) anymore? Although I cant see why he would want to do that, i mean, what's wrong with Satanist baby-blood drinkers? I dont see anything bad in that.
lol the guy has a life, he's probably just busy as f***.
Now Playing: Ex Deo- Cruor Nostri Abbass
Gore: See, now you've pushed the issue and I remembered it wasn't MJ. It was the Beastie Boys. Now I have nothing to remember... What the hell was his name again? Anyway, I heard Farrah Fawcett died and when she got to the pearly gates she was granted one wish. She asked that the children remain safe.
It's funny that Michael Jackson is now treated as a f*cking hero since his death, considering the fact that most people would make fun of him... for obvious reasons.
I understand the fact that he had an impact in the music industry, but seriously, those people who were massively bashing MJ and suddenly began to worship him after his death are big hypocrites.
^well, I just ran outside and slapped a small boy on the ass. Am I allowed to talk sh** yet?
eh, for all my MJ bashing over the few days since his passing, I have always sort of deeply respected the man as one of the few people I've ever seen make pop actually seem like an actual musical art form, instead of mega-commercial crap. He has done good to the music industry. That notwithstanding, i have yet to see a single american pop artist actully follow in his footsteps outside of idolizing the dancing and smooth vocals. So his actual effect on the industry is only nausiating. Not his fault, it's just that people in general are too stupid to realize why he was as amazing as he was, and the wrong lessons get taken form his work.
I view Mj in the same sort of bubble as metallica: Their music will be great forever, but they themselves can go die and i wouldnt care. As evidenced by my already stated opinions on the man elsewhere on this site. God bless Mj. Cause I wouldnt.
Diamond Oz: Post 85 was AWESOME!
BLACKDOG, WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN MAN! I MISSED YA! (Its SexBloodandMetal/Azazel_begotten/whatever username you remember me as)
f***_A_Name: I second the last post.
In either case, This has to be the best zing ever posted on MU:
BLACKDOG: When you've accomplished half of what he did then you can talk sh**.
f***_A_Name: ^well, I just ran outside and slapped a small boy on the ass. Am I allowed to talk sh** yet?
Also F_A_N's avatar reminds me of 2 people who also died in the same week as Michael Jackson but weren't really noticed in the wake of "OMG MJ DIED!"
Mollie Sugden - She played Mrs. Slocombe in the British sitcom, "Are You Being Served?" Yeah, the show is from the 60s/70s, and I doubt anyone apart from some of the members here from across the pond will know who I'm talking about...But yeah, Mrs. Slocombe died.
And of course, BILLY MAYS! - The internet's favorite advertisement guy. The CRUISE CONTROL for COOL, BILLY MOTHERF*CKING MAYS! The OXI-CLEAN GUY is now dead!
I'm actually more bummed that these two people died.
