Porcupine Tree Reveals New Album "The Incident" Details

Porcupine Tree has issued the following announcement about their upcoming album:
"Porcupine Tree are happy to announce the forthcoming release of their tenth studio album ‘The Incident’. The record is set to be released via Roadrunner Records worldwide on 21st September, as a double CD.
"The centre-piece is the title track, which takes up the whole of the first disc. The 55-minute work is described as ‘a slightly surreal song cycle about beginnings and endings and the sense that ‘after this, things will never be the same again’.’
"The self-produced album is completed by four standalone compositions that developed out of band writing sessions last December - Flicker, Bonnie The Cat, Black Dahlia, and Remember Me Lover feature on a separate EP length disc to stress their independence from the song cycle.
"Video footage of the band in the studio working on The Incident, as well as audio previews, will be available online soon. The band will tour extensively to promote the album from mid September onwards."

RM? summed things up well. I can't wait for the new album. I'm going to see them for the 3rd time in NYC a few days after this album comes out so this fall is definitely Porcupine Tree season lol. What another good year for music. New Log, Mastodon, Isis, Dredg, Porcupine Tree.... I also think that Between the Buried and Me will release a new album this year!!
I hope the new album goes in a different direction from their last album FOABP. It was a great album and PT have been playing around with a metal sound in their last three albums but it would be sweet to hear something more experimental like Steven Wilson captured in his solo album. Its hard to tell with this band, but they have never disapointed with an album and I don't think they will start any time soon.
Quick Question: PT is going to be playing with Kings X when I see them. Can someone give me a summary of what Kings X is like? They are one of those heavy prog bands I never got to checkin out.
Now Playing: "In Fiction" by Isis

I'm giddy about this one. Most anticipated album of the year.
I wonder how different it will be from the last 3 albums, which each had very distinct sounds. Nothing as drastic as the differences between "Voyage 34" to "Up the Downstair" to "The Sky Moves Sideways" but still quite grand thematic leaps...
"In Absentia" "Deadwing" and "Fear of A Blank Planet" were very independent of each other--not obvious progressions in one direction from one to the next.
Heres to hoping for more surprises.
