As for the topic here, I dont understand why Metallica's got such crap bands (if not crap, but "melodic/mellow") opening for them. I think A S is totally out of place as an opening act for Metallica, as much as HIM was.

Speaking from an opinion based on the school systems in California, you would be wasting your time by not going to the authorities. But again, the schools up there might be different from up there.

Since you guys brought up Aerosmith, I just am wondering if anyone has heard the official confirmation if they are playing the entire Toys in the Attic album on this summer's tour with ZZ Top? My plan is to go just to see the Top but if Aerosmith will play that album in lieu of their wedding sings I will stick around.
But also, I heard that Steven Tyler has fallen off the wagon HARD and they may have to reschedule the dates with a possibility of cancelling the tour.
Can anyone shed some light on this?

Shredder - To be perfectly honest with you, Im not entirely sure it would be the same thing or not?? That particular effect is called "Pitch Shifter" on my Digitech RP Processor..
The description of that effect is ...
"It copies the incoming signal than shifts the pitch of the copy to a different note.. The shifted note is then mixed back with the original signal sounding as if two guitars were playing different notes.
The range of intervals that the shifted pitch can be set is 12 semitones above the original and 24 semitones below the original."
For that particular tune, I have it set at the lowest which would be the 24 semitones below the original note.!
Now, as for getting that effect..? For the same amount of money as buying that same effect as a separate unit, I cant help but recommend one of the Digitech processors with a dozen other effects, amp modeling and several other treats, all built into one nice little package.. All of their products above $100 have a wah pedal built in too.!

Bad news guys.... Snowy, one of my beloved rabbits, was put to sleep today because he had a rapidly spreading infection which seemed to just get worse rather than better, despite the efforts of my brother. :( He said it was the first in a long time that he actually cried, and for about two hours. He had to carry Snowy's lifeless body... and he's going to bury him soon. Mama's going to miss her little one!

Shredder: I never download stuff online. I purchase CDs sometimes, but my primary sources of music are playlist.com, youtube, myspace, and my ipod. With my ipod, I let people I find put cool music into it, so I get a lot of stuff that way. How about you; do you download a lot of material or what?

As for the cd/download discussion: I also only buy cds - with a jewel case the preference. Gotta have the booklet and artwork in the collection. Though I will say, I hate this digipack and paper cover sh** that bands are using now. They get all dog earted and can't be kept in premium condition. I've only downloaded 2 albums in my life because they were free.

On the topic of CDs, I always buy them. I don't download, unless they're free. I love the artwork and everything, but I just don't have room to keep it in my small apartment, so I just have to look at it and then throw it away and keep the CD itself. It's a shame, I know, but I just don't have the space, especially since a 4th person just moved in a week ago.

I listen to too much music, and make too little money, for buying cd's to be a practical concept.
I download virtually all my music, and then when I really respect an artist, I buy my favorite cd of theirs, and a t-shirt or two, and then try to catch them in concert to make up for it. Very few artists have been dependable enough that I will buy a new release of theirs without samples. Behemoth, Slayer, and Lamb of God are the only ones that come to mind recently, and even then, if Wrath wasnt just ten bucks, I'de be a little annoyed at having bought it.
Then there's the bands that even if the quality is good, I refuse to buy anything from them regardless of what it is. I dont care how awesome Ride the Lightning is, I'm downloading it, because Metallica isnt getting jack sh** from my pocket.

I am still in shock. I have always hated drunk drivers, but the hatred has gone up quite a lot. I will admit that I had quite a long hard cry last night over this. Sven handled it with ease. I am grateful that he unlike too many other people in this world won't even get behind the wheel with even one drink in. I think that I have been pushed to the point that if I heard of someone drinking, and driving then I am no longer going to have anything to do with them and shall cast a death spell at them. Andro- If I may offer some assistance, since myself and Godlike are probably the resident experts on this, LOL
Warning: The drink(s) that "flush" out your system is not guaranteed to clean your body out. I was on formal probation for one year, piss tested every month back in 2002-2003. Anyway, I never went more than two or three days without smoking and used the "Royal Flush" everytime I went in to see my PO. The product had a track record of 10 for 12- I came up dirty twice. The odds are in your favor, but you are still risking it.
Since then, the synthetic piss product has taken over the market because it is 100% dependable. I have a friend who is an electrician that has changed jobs three or four times on the past two years. He smokes more than I do- I only smoke once or twice a (week)day, he smokes like six times a day- and he has passed every drug test with flying colors.
The synthetic piss is going to cost you twice as much but it is well worth it.

Andro - From my own personal experience with drug testing, the only true way of cleaning out your system is to burn the fat cells that the THC is stored in..!
THC cant be cleaned out of your system by drinking assloads of water... all that is doing is diluting the sample.!! If youve noticed the wide range of time variances that THC can be tested in a human..? Those variables are determined by the individual themselves... People with a higher metabolism( skinny active people) can clean out in days.. where as the overweight guy that sits on the couch doing bong hits and eating Doritos all day could take a month to clean out..?
I have been tested several times over the last few years and will be in the next couple weeks orso..? Ive only ever used metabolism boosters and fat burners.... and lots of working out.. whether its lifting weights or riding a bike.. Hell, walking does wonders..!! in a package the size of a pack of smokes.! The damn thing will hold 10,000 songs or so.. ( 20 gigs)
I have almost 400 cds on it and there is still room for a sh**load more..??
When Im on the road, I run it through the trucks stereo system and use the random play/shuffle mode, I can go 4-5 days before I hear the same song twice.!!

To run it through a home stereo/car stereo... all ya need is an FM transmitter that will plug into the headphone jack and then it transmits the signal through to your stereo's radio on channels

Metalheaddrummer101: The latest album (if I'm not mistaken) is "Antithesis" Thats the one I got. Best tracks were "Consuming Misery," "Wrath of Vishnu," and "Finite" but most of the tracks made it to my iPod.
Right now though I've been immersing myself in Les Legions Noir (The Black Legions, the french black metal inner circle). And I realized, they're really a poor imitation of Norway. Its one thing if your music has a strong influence of something else, its another to replicate a poorer quality of said influence.

Haha, it's true! No matter how much I say I'd hate to have a kid, I still have this weird, maternal kind of side. It's why I've always had at least one pet around. I don't think I've ever been without a living creature to look after. I've had a couple of cats, snakes, rabbits, birds, and a dog... all of which I've taken care of and ended up having to give to new owners (except Snowy who recently died due to a viral infection or something - RIP).
And a cobra tattoo would be really cool. I remember my first snake... that bastard was f***ing quick... always got out of my reach.

I knew I should've gotten online earlier. Well, I know I wanna get my septum pierced before I get any of the tats. I know for sure I wanna get something for my mom and I wanna get a certain thing my dad drew for me before he left.. I really wanna get this thing I saw where it's a panda listening to music, it's cute and like, an older lady could pull it off if she wanted to.
About the whole walking around in a bra... I could walk around in a tank top also. :] I'm not getting a lot on my chest, just like, the top of my chest where, if I wore a tank top, you could see it.
I also know, that I kinda wanna get something big on my back but I'm not sure yet. I might also get my legs tatted up, too. I know I'm getting one on my upper outer thigh. There's just sooo many I wanna get.
When I get out of school, I kinda wanna go to college so I'll be able to open my own tattoo and piercing shop. I'm not sure if I wanna get my piercing license yet. I've done all my piercings myself and I've pierced many other people's body parts... -sigh-
I'm just sooo not sure with what I wanna do. : /

StillGotTime: What tattoo did she get? lol I know a lot of people who have had their septum pierced and it turned out fine. All my piercings have turned out fine. I think I've only had one to not agree with me and I took it out and just repierced it. :p I could do it myself but my mom thinks that 11 piercings just on your head is too many. lol So I can't get it until I'm 18 which sucks. I think it'll look adorable on me. I've done it before and it doesn't hurt because they obviously don't do it through the cartilage.

I've been wanting to get my piercings license since my 16th birthday.. and the one tattoo shop that's REALLY good and close to my house wants 2,500 for a f*ckin' apprenticeship. The first attempt was crooked so he had to redo it and of course it didn't cost me anything but I nearly passed out from the pain and all the nerves in that area. Anything worth doing is going to be painful though so don't sweat it. I don't recommend you trying that one yourself though.

But then again, Ive always found more fun in pounding out power chords and coming up with
rhythm parts than I had doing solos..!! Maybe Im strange.. but playing lead parts by yourself just doesnt sound as cool..!!

Shredder - I myself, have never started from scratch.! The guitars I have worked on were already made... I just stripped them apart, refinished and added new PUs, tuners etc..!
The guitars Ive refinished are all quality axes, that were abused by their original owners as in scratches and dents, stickers etc...
If going that route.? Starting with something that originally was decent quality is a must..!!
A good solid wood body as opposed to something made out of plywood or particle board is certainly the best thing to get started.. Necks and electronics, tuners etc.. can all be purchased from several places online.??

BG1: I've done it before. It didn't hurt all that much though. It depends really on how quick they do it and if they know what they're doing. lol When I got it I did it myself. It hurt but not as bad as I thought it was going to. I was about 13 at that time. I had to take it out because I knew my mom would've killed me for it. lol
Wilco: Oh trust me, I've seen LOTS of d*** things go wrong with piercings. Like, sh*t that you'd NEVER want to see. My friend got a prince albert and well.... didn't clean it as much as he should've and had lots of unprotected sex before it was healed. And me, being one of his only friends that knows an ungodly amount about piercings, he showed me the aftermath..... I'm scarred for life.

mhd- good luck with your first show. just stay focused and everything will be fine. I remember my first show, you just cant get nervous and you'll do fine--besides, you're a new local band, noone knows what your music sounds like so you can mess up a couple of times!
......just dont do it too much because if it sounds like incoherent crap you could be catagorized into a genre like Norma Jean...and that'd be pretty awful.

Of everything in the world to argue about, JFAC shouldn't be one of them. We warmed up for them up in Phoenix before they got signed and they were just hands down... Fvcking horrible. A miserable waste of label space if you ask me. I've heard some say that their first album was good, but that is what the played with us and if the first album was good; it damned sure didn't sound anything like they did live. I quickly lose respect for bands that can't produce live.

BlindGreed- On Tuesday I got one minute into the song and my doorbell rang. I never made it back to my computer. What I heard reminded me of Show No Mercy, which NEVER a bad thing, haha. Not only do I need to listen to Warbringer, but also Tenant 8 and the new Heaven and Hell!

Inferno- Good for you! I am glad to hear that. I have been busy too. My buddy is getting married this weekend and I am the best man, so that has been huge portion of my time the past two weeks. BUT after Sunday I can start counting the days down to MayhemFest! I haven't seen Slayer since the Unholy Alliance Tour in 2006 and haven't seen Behemoth since 2007.

Bruno: it's pretty cool. There's this editor there named Sarah Glenn who wants to cover local news that is usually uncovered by our city's major paper, The Hamilton Spectator. It's also like an arts type of thing, too. So it's journalism and creative writing together, and they want to do video and audio reports as well. Also, I never understood the best man thing... if said man really is the best man at said wedding, then why didn't the bridge go for him instead? :P Kidding, hehe.

and Army of Darkness fan :
"I'm not going to spoil anything, but for those of you that saw the PG-13 rating and groaned let me say....don't let it deter you. As with other great Raimi films the scare is in what is NOT seen....which is what makes it so damn scary! I wish more horror filmmakers would finally realize that. There are some extremely tense moments brought on by nothing but great camera work and awesome sound design.
If you want a genuinely creepy movie....and a great laugh go check it out when it comes out. You will NOT be disappointed. "

One of the reasons I hated Cloverfield, Quarantine and Blair Witch was what I couldn't see. If it eventually pays off (Like the Alien series did), i'll give it a go.

Godlike/Blindgreed- I gotta agree with BlindGreed, PG-13 horror equals fail 99% of the time. Relating to both issues, I went and saw Terminator:Salvation last week. The PG-13ness definately prevented it from being the best it could have been. Still better than number 3, but nothing compared to the first two. In regard to Drag Me to Hell, they played a trailer of it before Terminator and I knew I would not being seeing it.
The scariest movie I ever saw happened to be PG-13: Mrs. Doubtfire. I had nightmares for months.
