I respect Jamey for doing this, he's not trying to make a buck out of covering bands, he's paying respect to his influences... same as Slayer did!!!

Their cover of Escape makes me wonder what the old Metallica albums would sound like re-record through a Mesa or something like that.

I hate covers in general....love breed, but on the topic of covers, i dont think ive ever heard a good cover, i ve heard some god awful ones though,...mushroomheads "crazy" and deftones " no ordinary love" are probably my top 2on the hall of shame list....and i dig both those bands...

The absence did a cover of Testaments song, "into the Pit",and I think it's better than the original. Not only was it recorded better, but they also changed and sped up the drum rhythm, and added screamed vocals, rather than the grunt it originally had.

In my opinion, much better of a song. So far, that' the only cover that doesnt iriitate and make me want to just listen toi the original instead.

I used the word "original" way too much in this post. :P

I like covers that keep the feel of the original. At the Gates did a great job on Captor of Sin and Ensiferum almost outdid Metallica on their version of Battery. Of course any Metallica cover is better than the original and i'd say the same for Arch Enemy's covers. On the other hand, even though i love them, Dark Tranquillity did an awful job on My Friend of Misery by leaving out the solos and Undisputed Attitude is my least favorite Slayer album. So i guess i just take each cover on it's own merit.

covers are filler.....but they might introduce people to the originals, so in that sense they have some merit. i like "for the lions".....i like the originals better.
