Bullet For My Valentine Cancels South Africa Shows
Welsh rockers Bullet For My Valentine has announced that they have cancelled their appearances at South Africa's My Coke festival which was set to be held in Johannesburg on April 10th and in Cape Town on the 13th. The band are currently in the studio demoing new material and want to focus on their recording commitments at the moment.
Frontman Matt Tuck states: "We’re absolutely gutted to have to cancel these shows, we were proper looking forward to it, but we are really getting stuck in with writing new songs and we have busy schedule to get everything prepared for recording the new album- which we are all really excited about! So we apologize to our fans in S.A. but we promise we’ll be back!"

My girl-friend and I got tickets to go see BFMV in Johannesburg. My girl-friend is a huge fan of BFMV and has all their albums, one DVD and some gear. I heard from a mate today that BFMV will not be playing, so I jumped on the nearest pc and confirmed this. My girl friend is "guttered" as Mike Tuck would say and I'm peed off with them too eventhough I'm into heavier music. I play in a band (ok, not as big as BFMV) but I know live shows is any bands "bread and butter" and starts/keeps fans motivated and connected. BFMV committed to play in the Coke Zero Fest 09 in South Africa, and even got paid 'up front' months ago. For BFMV to say they cannot come due to other commitments 2 days befor the festival is crazy and unfair to the fans and organisers (if it was earlier, at least the organisers could of got other bands). Furthermore, bands like Metallica come to SA in appreciation for their "die hard" fans and keep commitments, but it seems BFMV is too good for this. To end, I know my Girl-friend doesn't listen to BFMV anymore and will come see my band more often ;-)
f*** them, if they didn't want to come to SA they could have said no months ago, but 2 days before the show? they had already been paid for it and they cancelled, I used to love them but honestly Ill never spend another cent on Bullet, and nor will anyone is South Africa ill promise you.
rockerboy11: Please... Expand your experience in metal. There is so much more out there than what you are currently listening to. Try some Lamb of God, some Slayer, Machine Head, or even some old school Black Sabbath. Get a feel for what metal is all about before you paint yourself into a corner. You certainly have the right to your own opinion, but expand your metal experience and become knowledgeable about everything that's out there. All yours for the taking. You can thank me later little buddy.
rockerboy11: seriously man those guys are right i used to like avenged sevenfold now im just ashamed of it. honestly theres a hell of alot of better metal around. and i dont like bullet for my valentine but aint it just like a big band to jump south africa. you can bet they wont be well received if they try to tour there again
rockerboy11: Indeed. Open yourself to more. There is a whole world of undiscovered metal for you. I'll forgive the double posting, but please take the time to expose yourself to real metal bands. There are plenty of people on this site that will make suggestions and also, pay attention to the "NP" from some of the regulars around here. You'll get recomedations on everything from prog-metal to grind core. Just don't limit yourself to the corporate eyeliner wearing radio friendly bands that they're shoving down your throat. We're here to help you.
NP: Reclamation - Lamb of God.
listen, if you all were in a band and you had a show, but then had all these other things to do such as write more songs so your fans wouldnt get bored with the old ones, you would prolly cancel things and of course your fans would get mad but i mean really, give them a break, they are people just like you. You really don't have to be so hard on the band, they probably didn't even cancel themselves, their producer or manager probably told them they had to!!!
BFMV fan: I'm in a band, got a show tonight, next weekend and the weekend after that. I've got a full time job too. Somehow I also find time to write new music. I personally think that BFMV is doing the world a favor by cancelling. In fact, I think they should consider cancelling their careers and make more room for better more talented bands out there. BTW... PROLLY isn't a fvcking word!!! Finally, producers and managers are all about the money and would not cancel a show. Get a fvcking clue before you post ignorant crap in defence of a lack luster band.
BLINDGREED1: i think you shoud learn how to spell youself, all you really are is a jerk, you might need to grow up just a little as well...you should not get mad and stop listening to a band all because they cancel one show, thats childish and highly immature!! how about all of you just grow up!!! Trust me, its not that hard!!
Bullet for My Valentine is a pretty dang amazing band, and all because they cancel one show does not make them a bad band!!
BFMV fan: I know it's hard but try to follow me on this one. I have NEVER liked BFMV and I NEVER will. In fact I HATE that bubblegum crap. They are about as amazing to me as the next pimple that pops up on your forehead. What you're failing to realize is that people who detest this band do so with verve because they HAVE grown up and bubblegum "metal" doesn't do it for them anymore.
You said:
Bullet for My Valentine is a pretty dang amazing band, and all because they cancel one show does not make them a bad band!!
You are correct about that. Cancelling the show doesn't make them a bad band, they are a bad band regardless of how many shows they cancel. Furthermore, I still feel as though the best course of action for them now is to cancell their entire careers in the music industry. It's the best thing for them really. Their therapy is going nowhere.
You said:
i think you shoud learn how to spell youself, all you really are is a jerk, you might need to grow up just a little as well...
I couldn't bring myself to copy and paste your entire run on sentance, but honestly I don't think learning how to spell "youself" is "prolly" going to help me in any way. Thanks for the advice about what you think I "shoud" do, but it really wasn't all that helpful to me.
Now go listen to your Bullet for My Vag!na and cry off all that eyeliner and mascara into your pretty pink pillow that your nana bought you for your birthday.
NP: Descending - LOG
blindgreed1: you can just go to Hel! for all i care. Your just a bully, and quite frankly i really do not care what you have to say. I was just making a statement on the band. I like Bullet, don't get me wrong, and yes a lot of their music is good, but that still gives you no right to say the things to me that you have. All because you have never liked them does not give you a right to judge others on their musical taste. You know nothing of what i look like so you have absolutly no idea if i wear eyeliner or not. I will give any band a shot and if i do not like them then i will say that i do not like them. You will not see me jumping down someone else's throat about them listening to that band. Everyone has a different taste in what they listen to, stop judging me because i listen to BFMV.
BFMV fan: You're funny. I guess I hit a nerve. I'll back off now (as soon as I finish this thought). Call me what you will, but I will stand up for true metal every chance I get and continue to wage a full on war against those who embrace the bullsh!t you call music. I am a devoted metalhead and have been for over 30 years and I will continue to fight for the right and educate those who can be taught (like rockerboy11 who obviously is willing to explore real metal) . You obviously don't fall within that boundry so enjoy your bubblegum and make sure to use the extra strength stain remover on your pillow.
Gutter: I know right. It's about all they're good for. That, and getting drunk while they play at Mayhem. How have you been brother? I haven't seen you on the boards lately.
NP: Dead Skin Mask - Slayer
blindgreed1: you need to really get some things straight. If you actually would read what i put down, i listen to any kind of metal, rock, alternative or grind. I do not limit myself on what i listen to. Music is a passion of mine, and i hate people who use it to try to fit into a group. Music is so much more than that.
Metal is metal no matter what type it is. Maybe you need to expand your musical taste and acutally see whats out there, instead of what you call "True Metal"
blindgreed1: i have been reading yours and that bfmv fans posts and i read that you like to educate people in metal music and such. I was wondering if you could give me some band names that you think i should listen to because right now i listen to some things but i would like to know whats out there if you would be willing to help?
thanks bunches
BFMV fan: Thanks but no thanks. I KNOW what I like and what I don't like. I just wish people like you would educate yourselves more before posting mindless dribble.
lovelust1: I'm always willing to help. What type of Metal are you interested in? Are you more interested in vocal, rhythm, percussion? There are many genres and subgenre's to choose from. I need to know a little more about what you're into before I make any serious suggestions. Also, as I stated to rockerboy11, keep an eye on the "NP" of some of the regulars around here. It's a great way to kindle your interest. Some other members to help you are FAN (Fvck_A_Name), Cynic, Netromancer, TOG (That One Guy), xWigglesx, Diamond Oz, godlike, Bruno Hockalugie, Goregrinder, Jenny, Kalis Wrath, Bolt Thrower, Shredder, Psythe, IrishMetal, and Metalhead101. We all enjoy exposing interested parties to our passion.
NP: Swamped - Lacuna Coil
lovelust1: Slayer, Machine head , Lamb of God, Mastodon, Old Sepultura, Cavalera Conspiracy, The first three albums from Metallica, Testament, Exodus, Motorhead, and many more, but that should get you started. We use the A7X threads as chat threads around here, so you can often find a lot of regulars there that will be eager to recommend other good metal for you. Cheers \m/\m/!!!
Not intentionally inviting flaming but I really do like BFMV, I like their music a lot, but I do respect the fact that cancelling these dates is really unfair and completely out of order, but I'm not going to stop listening to them because of it. However I do also listen to Cannibal Corpse, Children of Bodom, Machine Head, Lamb of God, Bleeding Through, Metallica, Slipknot...the list goes on.
NP: Angels Don't Kill - Children of Bodom
Look at u bg, your fan club keeps blowin up,.....memo to the guy bringing his girlfriend to the show....never take girls to a show....any shows.....friends lovers sisters cousins or sluts on the corner....you end up having to babysitting them through out the whole show and it becomes a real drag...i learned the hard way with the same chic...3 times before it fahqn sunk in my thick skull...believe me youll be much more relaxed and be able to be yourself if you dont have your ball and chain there......as far as bullet canceling their show in SA, its probably the best news SA has received since finding out they are hosting next years world cup.....
Blindgreed: everythings goin good, i know i havent been posting much lately, ive been busy studying for finals that im probbly gonna get my sh** wrecked in... i also enjoy reading comments just as much as being involved, they are fun
RTB: you know what, your are right... Ive already brought her to some shows and it did take away from the show a little bit having to keep track of her... hmmm, now i need to come up with a reason why she cant go, i have the tickets already but i know someone else who could fill the slot
the drama on blabbermouth may be low, but thats because its patrolled by mindless droolling ignoramuses that soak up any and all trivia about their bands they like, instead of actually focusing on the music and important isues that actually affect that music.
We here on Metalunderground, actually speak to each other like intelligent human beings discussing metal and the world around us. Sure, it may cause strife, flared tempers, and meaningless tangents in conversations, but then again, the plus outweighs the minus by far.
I've learned more about Metal, it's genres, the mental compostion of it's fans, how the industry works, and just general semantic intellectualism on this site in 2 years, thant I did in 4 years just talking about it with friends and researching it. Not to mention the fact that 90 percent of my favorite bands I wouldnt even know about if it wasnt for talking with the regulars on here.
so your blabbermouth can suck a blabberd*** for all I care. This site is better, adn I'm sorry you're letting a few things that annoy you blind you to the potential of this site as a haven for metal BMG.
oh, and lovelust:
I read you liked rhythm and percussion, so I reccommend the song "War" by meshuggah. Listen to it, and try and tell me a better drummer exists.
In terms of your love for old hatebreed, I would reccomend a band I found recently called "Hostility" they have the same vibe, but are a bit...angrier, and more complex I should say. if you're going for something more on the lighter side, i have plenty of band sI can throw your way too, but I'm more of an "extrme" musical taste type of person, so I'm the man you go to if you want your mind blown and then kicked down the street a few times by your music. :P
Now Playing: Mastodon- Crack the Skye
HOOOLY sh**. I know exactly where you're coming from, and then some. Even as a HUGE fan of prog metal (Gojira, Opeth, Sol asunder, Hacride, Tool) i could never "get" mastodon. Never cared for em, didnt like htem, evne the couple songs i thought were ok still didnt do it for me, in fact, most songs drove me away from the band.
then they posted their entire new album on myspace, and I decided to give them another shot.
Beautiful.
They've almost completely forsaken their metal sound, but in that, i think they've made one of the best albums I've ever heard. Usually, i use softer albums to take a break from my fast extreme bands, y'know, mix it up and whatnot, but instead, I've been using Brain drill and Pig destroyer to wind down from that album. It's THAT powerful of a cd. The individual tracks are decent, but it's really something that needs to be listened to all in one sitting. Dont bother with it if you're just looking for individual songs, although "the last Baron" is still f***in epic on it's own, if you do want to check it out.
I have WAAAAAYYYY too many posts this huge this close together on this thread haha
34, my best friend comes to every show I go to. She'd sooner break your nose than just stand in the corner. Chicks who've been to lots of shows can hold their own there.
If you want music that sounds like early Hatebreed then I'm in heaven. So many good bands out there that have that sound to them.
BMG, if you have such a problem with this site stop coming here.
for comment #40: that's funny, because you must be one of the crying b**ches on her knees to Kali about my comments. Hmmmm, no balls = vaginal itch = blindgreed cranky. I actually don't even go on blabbermouth, my boyfriend reads the news on it BUT all i have to say is that they have more up to date news. I don't understand the sensitivity issue. Maybe if you would explain WHY most of you loathe blabbermouth then i might let up. I'm only mentioning it because it irritates you.
*cry's a tear for BMG* See posts 41-46 regarding why this site is far superior to Blabbermouth. Yes I told Kali about your spamming of the MU with Blabbercrap, because I was under the impression that you had made a promise to her to not spam the MU anymore. You've showed your true colors and I felt she should know how you operate. Maybe, by doing so someone can get to the bottom of what your dammage is. Go back to Blabbermouth and get the latest news on who Eddie Van Halen is dating today if that's what turns your crank. I really don't care, I just don't want to see your pathetic plugs for that website here. You won't see excelent reviews (like Cynic's Tech-metal review) or interviews (like XFiruath's interviews with Gorgoroth's Infernus and God Seed's King Ov Hell) on that site because they're too occupied with Brett Michaels latest project to focus on what Black Metal fans are actually interested in (which is ironic because you are supposed to be the BlackMetalGoddess right?). Pieces of literary genius like the one's mentioned above set this site far above the average dribble that get's posted to Blabbermouth on a daily basis. If your only reason for mentioning it is to irritate others then I would suggest getting some counseling because it's obvious that you have some issues with feeling like you need attention. Netro could probably explain it better to you but seriously, I'm not your father, so why don't you talk to him about why he didn't hug you more when you were a kid? All your doing here is acting like the 90% of Blabbermouth members who troll the internet looking for attention.
Funny part about blabbermouth is that Dark Funeral really hate that site. Ha ha ha!
Anyway, people. The BM, MU war is never going to end is it? Understandably that BM has crap for staff, and posters (not toward Matt, Pam talking about those who post on BM) that the war will never end. I do not like BM, but on the other hand the site has never really done anything to me personally.
Blindgreed1: thanks for your help, and im trying to figure out this website. I found it during school one day by mistake, and i really dont know everything about it.
the only time i really get on is during school, so i dont have that much time to really look around, and plus with everything is blocked.
but thanks for the welcomeing thing again!!
Counseling? That's ironic since you seem so angry against women you have strong opinions! Maybe your mother should have breast fed you more often than not! Fatherly hugs isn't the issue. Firstly, you didn't see me talking smack about your family so if you are wise, i suggest you keep the topic to why I think blabbermouth is better. That's why you deserve that retort. Secondly, you are a grown adult, act like it. You claim that blabbermouth is full of 12 year old trolls, well, then step up, grab yourself by the seat of your pants and practice what you preach! I don't go on it for the threads. I read the news. I go on here to read the news. Alot of the news that is published here was already updated on their site 24 or more hours prior to it hitting your webspace. Yes, Mu.com does have stories on bands that blabbermouth doesn't...and those are bands i don't care about or ever heard of because they are so underground. Kudos for you on that. My point was, is, and has been that. You guys don't listen/read my comments very thoroughly.
The blackmetal news on here hasn't awe stricken me. It's old news by the time I find it on here because blabbermouth already had it.
Mayhem canceling in Mexico? yeah, already knew that. Did mu.com do any stories on Wardruna? if so, then my bad. My name has nothing to do with this argument either. You are desperate, grabbing for something to hit me over the head with, theoretically. Will not work. Don't drag Kali into this, fight your own battles dude, be a man.
*sighs* I honestly am not sure where to start with you two. I really hate seeing family fight as I have told you both. I grew up watching my real family fight, and hate to see my family of steel fighting.
Blind, love you man, but what is up with dragging BMG's dad into this? You know that would piss you off if someone did that to your kid's. Not cool, in my opinion. Especially knowing what BMG has had to deal with on the father front. I won't post it here, nor on myspace as it is something that she will have to tell you about if she wants. I know that you, and Bruno have had a rough time over on BM, but at some point you got to get over it. That crap was in the past, and if you are to fly off the handle every time you see BM then you are kind of letting the site win by pissing you off. It’s like the letting the dirt heads win every time someone gets up in arms over 9-11.
BMG, love you too, but the BM, MU war is never going to end on here, nor there. A lot of people are offended by the BM "plugs" as Blind calls them, and am sure that if they continue on here they will hit the chord of the wrong person causing you to get banned which would suck when you have something you want to post on that is non-BM related. I understand that you have your opinion on BM, and would not ask you to change that, but if ya could mellow it out on here it would rock.
As I have said; I love you both dearly. I am upset that two of my very good friends are not getting along over a stupid website.
Post 53 "not getting along over a stupid website.* - Kali this comment better not bedirected at MU lol :P
And its just the plugs that annoy me, why plug BM when you're on MU. Sooner or later Deathbringer might break out the Banhammer for plugging a rival site and talking down his own. You may come only for the news BMG but others come for the news, camaraderie and discussions. If that's a problem and you're only here for the news anyway, why bother commenting? Unless you're just trolling...
BlackMetalGoddess - feel free to submit stories that you don't see on either MU or BM by bands that you like - that is if you actually want to contribute to the scene.
I prefer MU for a) being lighter b) better layout c) freedom, account or no d) not being related to roadrunner scum e) intelligent regulars, and best of all f) supporting the underground bands I love.
Now Playing: Loss - "Cut Up, Depressed and Alone"
I.M, of course it was directed at MU. *LMAO* :P
Blind, I said you, and Bruno, silly. You do take is quite personally as if you had a very rough time on BM.
Like I said in the Assend sh**tingfold thread, I am back for good to reign again on MU. I do warn that I am vastly different in many good ways since I was last here. I have been spending time with Sven A LOT, and it has enlightened me, and improved me greatly.

Not to be negative about this, as South Africa gets absolutely ziltch festival activity, but the line-up is completely pathetic. Oasis headlining with a whole load of pop bands, and even though I don't listen to BFMV, I can understand why they dropped off...
check the lineup out...
