Slayer Frontman Tom Araya Talks About New Album
Band Photo: Slayer (?)
In a recent video interview with Artisan News Service, Slayer frontman Tom Araya spoke a little about the bands forthcoming new studio album which will be released later this year. Araya states: "This new album is coming together really well. We've been in the studio now for four weeks. I think four or five weeks and it's coming across together, you know it has all the Slayer elements. I don't want to compare it to but it has very Christ Illusion type songs. You know it's in that vein but there's also fast songs, l mean 'Psychopathy Red' that right there should give you an example of the broad spectrum of Slayer music is going to be on this album."

"I don't want to compare it to but it has very Christ Illusion type songs"==== this part scares me.... christ illusion type??? i hope not !!! CI was not very good album that he wanted to raise the hype !!!!!! maybe we have 10 songs that 8of them are the same..... when i heard PR i thought that this album will be a triumph but......
bulldozerash - I kinda agree bro...If this new album is going to resemble CI (music-wise) then, It will slightly lower my interest in it. I'll just be patient and wait for more material to be revealed before confirming my statement.

Thats all they do is bash religons....that hasnt changed since day 1.....anybody wanna guess when slayer gets in the rock n roll hall of fame?.....over under never.....yet they have been the kings of metal since metallica went fred durst......the religon anti christ bashing does get tiring but there still one of the greatest.......
i thought CI was great in my opinion, yea the subject matter of the lyrics do get a little old... but hell them boys can still thrash with the best! put more thought into their music? its f***ing Slayer man!!! they're not gonna change now and i like it that way! we only have a few years left of these bastards so just enjoy it and randomly yell f***ING SLAYER!!!
Listen to Raining blood. then listen to GHUA. then listen to South of heaven. Then listen to Christ Illusion.
Not a single one of those albums are rehashes of another. RB was pure thrash. SoH was them experimenting with a slower thrash with more emphasis on individual riffs rather than fast picking. GHUA was them going for a overall heavier sounding album with more emphasis on understanding the lyrics. Christ Illusion was a return to the fast-paced thrashing epic of their old days, but mixed with that heavy sound they searched for in their other albums, but never quit found till then.
As consistent as Slayer may be with their sound, they are aband constantly evolving.
Metallica slowed down, lost their classical influence, stopped thrashing, lost their ability to write lyrics that meant anything meaningful, and forsook metal altogether until recently, and even that is up for debate.
Christ illusion took me a while to warm up to, but the song Psycopathy Red makes me want to buy the new album day of release already.
