Metallica To Play Secret South By Southwest Guitar Hero: Metallica Launch Show

Metallica will be playing a surprise show at Stubb's, Austin's legendary venue, on Friday, March 20 at 10 p.m. as part of the "Guitar Hero: Metallica" showcase at Texas capital's annual South By Southwest music festival.
Stadium headliner Metallica is going to play Stubb's, a venue that holds only 2,100 for the Guitar Hero: Metallica release party. Metallica's site says "There will be live music, a DJ, and of course the boys will be hangin' out . . . and who knows what else might happen!".
It will be a standard SXSW policy, with badges and wristbands getting priority. There will also be a line for those willing to pay cover, but admission will be based on space availability. But as Stubb's is an outdoor venue fans will be able to hear the band all the way to Hyde Park.
Starting Wednesday, March 18, there will be a three day "Metallica Madness" Guitar Hero tournament at the Best Buy store in South Austin, TX during the South by Southwest Music Festival.High scorers on each of the three days (one drummer and one guitarist plus a couple of runners up to make the "elite eight") will then move on to compete Friday night at a special Guitar Hero: Metallica release party at Stubb's, also in Austin, TX.

this one should be interesting. if anybody has ever ventured down to austin for sxsw, a metallica concert at a small outdoor venue right in the middle of downtown should be f-ing crazy. word is they're bringing in their own pa, and anybody who isn't somebody ain't gettin in.

This is the equivalent of Paris Hilton premiering her new movie at Sundance. Metallica, go away!
To everyone else, please go see other metal bands playing at the same time that actually NEED the exposure such as Kylesa, Wolves in the Throne Room, ABSU, Black Tusk, Ironweed, Whitechapel, Black Cobra, Bring Me The Horizon, Rwake, Valient Thorr, Wino, Cancer Bats, The Devil Wears Prada, Crystal Antlers, Skeletonwitch, Pelican, or Gallows.
Let Metallica continue to suck the corporate c***...

@cynic: Not too bright, huh? Let me spell it out for you. Metallica should not be playing at SXSW, period! This once great band will be siphoning away most of the metal fans from the other 18+ bands playing at the same time. While only badgers will be allowed in, Stubb's is an outdoor venue so most of the metal fans will be hanging outside the gate to catch an earful. Subsequently, there will be more people outside there than at all of the other metal shows combined.
Me, I will more than happy watching Wolves in The Throne Room, ABSU, Rwake, and Pelican while everyone else tries to catch a glimpse of metal's equivalent to Paris's hootch...
"and who knows what else might happen!."
Well hell yeah! Moms across the state are going to let their kids stay out till midnight for this crazy surprise! BYO Juice for the occasion all you straight edge kids!
I swear man, sh** like this just supports the clubs that claim to have "heavy metal nights" then instead of sticking even a sh**ty local band up there to throw down some basic palm mutes you get a bunch of pasty white basement dwellers who saved their allowance money up from ages 30-32 to save up to get one of those Guitar Hero guitars made from a real guitar body standing up on a stage perfectly capable of holding the weight of real equipment and real musicians... the next club I see around here that has a "GH Heavy Metal Night" I swear to the gods I am going to burn down, mix the ashes in with some C-4 then blow up.
Okay, done venting. Thank you metalunderground...
As much as i enjoy playing guitar hero, i always switch up to my guitar, they should stop with all this guitar hero games and try to get talent back, metallica was good back in the day, but i tried listenin to there new music i never got halfway through a song
