You're right, Dee. Not only has it been 3 years since Godsmack last released an album, but yeah it's been far too long.

^exactly what I was thining, practically verbatum.

I came this close to not even clicking on this article, because Godsmack had completely slipped from the part of my brain that holds relevant things, an dit didnt even register to me that these guys have been out of it since my wee middle school years.

Even then though, I didnt care too much for them. i would like them a lot mor eif they didnt sound like they were constantly making the same song. I liked the ones that sounded different, like Whatever, Awake, even "I stand Alone" despite that being the obvious single. The rest of the library was stuufed full of songs that all sounded like clones of each other, and I can only stand that type o'sh** from ACDC(I have no idea why, dont argue the point haha)

Another album? They must have found a way to tune down another octave while playing consecutive open chords and saying "Go Away".

does anyone think that maybe they'll snap outta their consistent disappointment and actually learn to play guitar and vary up the song styles. maybe an entire new band? lol

There are a few songs I do like by them. In the world of radio friendly hard rock I usually won't turn the station if they are on. I do feel they need to expand their sound a bit. And find some of Sully's lyrics a bit redundant or uninspired.

btbamfav20: I think you misunderstood my meaning. Sully does everything (vocal, guitar... Including leads, bass and drums) in the studio. The "band" is for live performances only.

DIE: I HAVE noticed that. What do you think that's all about.

I agree with Netro. They have some good stuff (i.e. Good Times - Bad Times) here and there, it's just that listening to a whole album tends to get tedious.

Don't get me wrong...Godsmack was a gateway 'band' of mine and 'they'll' always mean something to me. 'They' just overdo some things.

Yeah, I used to think Sully's swallowing fixation was an interesting concept, but now it brings forth way too many correlations.

DeathInEye: Godsmack, Slipknot, Staind, Disturbed, Mudvayne, Korn, and System of a Down were my gateway bands. Twist by Korn blew my mind, as did Slipknots New Abortion lol

this kid was talkin to me about metal(duh, what else!) and Killswitch engaged came up in convo. He said, "well, I dont really like them at all that much, but I really like their song Holy Diver for some reason"

Needless to say, I smacked myself in th forehead in frustration, and him upside the head in anger. "That's because it's Ronnie James you c***-twat!"

Blink 182 was my gateway band. no lie. I just listened to whatever came on the radio before I heard them. they were the first band where I actually made an effort to get their music and follow it' s progression, so I would technically say they were my gateway.

Then a year or so later, found myself listenin to linkin park, godsmack, and god only knows what else, when I suddenly heard "The beautiful People" by Marilyn Manson on the radio. I had no idea music could sound like that, and it was awesome.

Since then, it's been a way too convoluted and crazy ride throught the metal rabbithole to be able to explain it all right here, right now, but I am still eternally grateful to both blink 182 and Manson, for without them, I wouldnt have the Black Dhalia Murder and Opeth. lol

Yeah, my first cds were Creed, Godsmack, Staind, Linkin Park, Disturbed, Slipknot, Mudvayne, Flaw, Rob Zombie, Limp Bizkit and then it was pretty much a spiral after Pledge of Allegiance tour into SOAD, Rammstein, American Head Charge and then went head first into metalcore and then melo-death....You get the picture.
