Guitar Hero: Metallica Pre-orders Come w/ Bonus Drum Pedal

Joystiq.com reports that Gamestop pre-orders of Guitar Hero: Metallica will come with a bonus drum pedal and input splitter. Their announcement was pretty entertaining though:

"There's a thick cloud of fear hanging over fans of faux-drumming in games like Rock Band and Guitar Hero: World Tour -- fear inspired by the near-impossible rhythms which will need to be kept when Guitar Hero: Metallica hits store shelves. We're not sure how familiar you guys are with the speed with which Mr. Ulrich is capable of producing percussion, but we assure you, his work will be most unpleasant to attempt to mimic.

"Thankfully, an uncharacteristically useful pre-order bonus from GameStop will give the game's quick-to-act reservers an extra bass drum pedal and input splitter. This will allow the player to use both pedals to tackle the game's more heel-punishing tracks. It's certainly a better option than splitting your foot down the middle, and training yourself to control both halves independently, which, now that we think about it, would be pretty rock-and-roll."

That'll be cool for me, as a drummer. It'll help me play a song like 'And Justice For All'(the thrashier part) without killing my leg.

If anything's fast in Metallica, it's James. Ouch, my wrist hurts just thinking about playing Disposable Heroes again.

Gotta agree with Cynic on this one.
James also has a bad habit of picking with a downstroke as well. Which only means he is forced to play faster. I know there are alot of folks who don't like Metallica as of the last 10 years, but back in the Master of Puppets days, the guy demanded respect as a frontman. To play the riffs he played and sing as well takes alot of talent. Being predominantly a rhythm guitarist myself, I'm not ashamed to say I worked very hard to emulate him when I was a kid. Now it might not seem like such a big deal, but he really kicked a$$ on the first 4 albums.

"James also has a bad habit of picking with a downstroke as well." - Lol yeah no kidding, I pretty much only double pick in bursts now so I can't play tracks like Disposable Heroes or MoP any more, just haven't the stamina. Battery is more my style since where the speed comes in bursts, Cynic is the same.

Its nice to see someone is FINALLY making a double bass split but yeah, Lars is the least talented member of Metallica >;_<;

Although will be good for playing the other songs on GHWT etc

I think the downstroke is the preferable method if you can keep up. You get a more consistent and better timed sound. But not many can keep up with James. His downstroke is simply amazing. At least it was in the 80's. I haven't seen hiim play for the last 15 years or so.

There. Some love for Metallica. At least for Master Of Puppets.

Way off topic - but why did the latest Hate Eternal get such a bad review. I completely disagree with the review of that album. I only brought it up because FAN mentioned Hate Eternal, plus the album cover looks pretty cool. I have the album, but I need to listen to it, again. As for James, yes, I have always had tremendous respect for him as a frontman, and guitarist. It is unfortunate that Metallica has not aged well.

I think that they should have had a guitar hero game for Dream Theater, or Cynic... some sort of progressive/technical band that would truly be impossible.

More examples of things that would be impossible to play on a video game:

Necrophagist
Quo Vadis
Endstille
Atheist
...many more. I think Ulrich was a bad choice in comparison, if you want "nearly impossible"

I had no idea James played downstroke. hmph.

I myself have just started training myself to play down instead of up. Now though, it makes sense why the Song Master of Puppets is so much easier to play than before lol

I'll say it again: Guitar Hero: Meshuggah

Until that particular game comes out, nothing is impossible.

Now playing: Ludacris- Large Amounts

I think he's worked on it a bit, but it's a habit alot of my guitar influences had. Mustaine actually said it helps him with his chunky staccato riffs, but it is murder on the wrist.
