Epica Guitarist Calls It Quits
In a statement on Epica’s official website, guitarist Ad Sluijter has decided to leave the band after six years and four studio albums.
“Ad is a founding member of Epica and has been of great value to the band. We would like to use this opportunity to thank Ad for his everlasting devotion for Epica,” reads the official news from the Dutch symphonic metal band. “We will never forget all the great moments we have shared together and wish Ad the very best for the future. We hope to be able to announce Ad's successor soon.”
No word yet on whether or not this will affect their commitment to Wacken Open Air 2009.
Ad’s own official statement can be found on his personal mySpace page.

That's too bad. I'm sure they'll find someone to take over for em if the band is still planning to attend Wacken. If not that, I wish them luck finding a permanent replacement member soon.
