Gorgoroth Crucifies Models on Stage, Again
Band Photo: Gorgoroth (?)
Black metallers Gorgoroth have been at it again. Pissing people off, that is. Turns out some Christians are offended by photos of the Norwegian band performing at Filth Fest 2008 on Dec. 9 in Budapest, sharing the stage with naked men and women bound to crosses. Some reports have stated the people were actually nailed, but after checking out photographs from the show, they appear to be standing on little platforms with their wrists tied with ropes. Still not really pleasant imagery, but when you’re checking out news and pics of Gorogoroth, known for their controversial stage antics and the satanic content of their lyrics, you do get what you get. Photos are available, but please note: do not check them out if you are easily offended. They can be viewed at Metalhead.ro
In 2004, the band was under investigation by Polish police under suspicion of committing religious offenses and cruelty to animals while filming a concert for an upcoming DVD in Krakow, Poland. Joining them on stage this time were four sheep heads, 80 liters of sheep blood, and four naked crucified models. The band was never officially charged, although the footage was confiscated by police.

Blindgreed -- Yeah, I noticed it, lol. He / she is partially right, though. It's just Ghaal that sucks chubbies, lmao. Oh, and don't get me wrong.. I wasn't saying there was anything wrong with Kali being naked either, lol. I'm a happily married man, but I'm not dead yet! Haha!
f*** i'd love too see Gorgoroth live... i heard about them getting in trouble for various things... but i dont see what all the fuss is, and why are christian / catholic (wateva, its all the same) looking at pics of Black Metal bands anyway? f***ing tossers... i didnt see the problem with the Incipit Satan vid at all... rofl...
NP: Begravelsesnatt - by GORGOROTH!!!!!
This is hilarious- I can't believe there are still people who get upset about this stuff, well actually I can believe it. This is obviously provocative imagery and anyone complaining about it is clearly clueless. That must be quite an experience though, naked on stage with a bag on your head and Black Metal blowing your ears out.
It looks like their show would be like a horror film come to life so I'm down with it besides some christians are so uptight,I'm a christian and dont find any of it offensive and know that imagery goes with the music, are they doing that stuff in real life NO,then again maybe they are LOL.
sh** like this makes me want to destroy my only Gorgoroth album. I mean if your a black metal band keep it real, don't start some f***ing stage show, stick to the f***ing music. Or even better if you hate people kill them not put blood and naked people everywhere. Ever since Ghaal became there vocalist the band is like a f***ing Mcdonalds advert.
Now Playing Metallica - Kill 'Em All (There best album)
The only good Gorgoroth album is Under The Sign Of Hell, the rest are pretty weak since Ghaal joined them. Gorgoroth should have appeared in the new KFC advert they seem to like publicity! Anyway it's time to sell my only Gorgoroth LP any bidders?
Now Playing - Burning Witch - Towers
I mean if your a black metal band keep it real, don't start some f***ing stage show, stick to the f***ing music.
Really? So what's with the facepaint? And the church burning? Black Metal thrives on it's imagery in my opinion. i don't generally like too much of it, I like good production too much to enjoy most of it lol, but Even when the music is fantastic, the imagery is still highly prevalent. The two concepts(their music and their imagery) are heavily intertwined. So by that view, Gorgoroth are sticking to their troo blek metl values with this stage show. I don't see what the problem is.
Now Playing: Ankla- Your Grace makes Me sick
Yeah I'm 23.
Also in regards to "f***_A_Name" face paint is fine, you obviously didn't understand me. As for Church Burnings that's not imagery that's action which is great, it would be good to see more burnings in the future as christianity is the reason the world is f***ed.
Who said I want to murder homosexuals, the point I made was clearly an open minded one as the f***s that ruin this world are the religous ones. My views are not contrived that's why I don't adhere to Christianity, remember there are many Christians that hate on homosexuals yet they are against Metal. f*** Christians and all there contradictions and support the war on them. Black Metal makes us aware of being connected to nature, religion makes you afraid to be alone therefore you have to believe in a fake person in the clouds. By the way Burzum's sh**.
Khanate you are just like every other f***ing retarded cliche Black Metal fan. Religion isn't what causes all these f***ers to do actions that have negative effects. It is people, christiantiy preaches love and all that sh** and how does that alone cause negative effects? It is the morons who take it to far and force their thoughts on others. Guess what? Your bullsh** mindset of burning churhces is doing just as much harm as the a$$holes in the christian faith that f*** up. It isn't religion alone, it is people/human nature that is the problem.
Lets assume you are right and that christianity is the problem. Lets also assume that atheism is correct (no proof one or the other that it is lets just assume). Then who created christianity? People did. Therefore we come back my point that people are the problem. A race that created such a "destructive" ideal as christianity has problems and will also create other ideals that will have negative effects on this planet. People are the problem not the ideal.
In response to post 47's ridiculous remarks. I am not a cliche Black Metal fan, I mainly listen to Jazz Black Metal is something I am interested in outside of the music. Also all of your opinions are pretty lame, if there are things in life that contrive the way we live, eg pro abortion clinics etc, there the things that should be destroyed. The only thing people should believe in is themselves and others that put out factual evidence.
Now Playing - Flying Lotus - Los Angeles
Khanate, YOU are what's wrong with the world. In just a few posts you made certain that we all noticed that. Intolerant people are what is wrong with this world. I am Christian and cruor made very good points in his posts. The problem with many Christian is that their faith is not that strong so every time something happens that shakes it a little bit, they freak out and shut down. they yell, they scream and they run to the priest and gives him control. so it goes with a lot of religions. the ones that make it bad are the people who are scared of loosing their fate, people who refuses to see that their faith is not very strong so they enforce it with intolerance.
Fear leads to hate and that is the problem, the ones controlling religion are power hungry and are scared to lose it so they take the writings and gives them meanings that are untrue.
Yet idiots like you are wrong as well, you are part of the problem, not the solution and by thinking what you are thinking, you are only adding fuel to the fire. and for that my friend, you deserve the twit of the week award. FU on MU
People are the ones that take it to far not the things in our lives. The things in our lives are about as responsible for the negative effects in this world as much as guns kill people and about as much as pencils make spelling errors. People f*** things up not the things in our lives.
And I didn't imply your a cliche black metal head because of the music you like (I also like Black Metal) but because of your very cliche attitude towards christianity.
@kali - He meant he mainly listens to jazz, black metal is just an interest. Forgot a comma I'm guessing. Although, Ephel Duath and Ne Obliviscaris would fit that bill :) Oh, and pray tell what is "the whole point of black metal"?
@cruor, but interesting artistic ideas do make bands more interesting! I mean, black metal wouldn't quite be black metal without the image, mysticism, ideologies and personalities.
@americanpatriot - lol, fueling the fire!
@red - How can you accuse someone of being ignorant and then totally ignore and debase their opinion? I don't agree with khanate, but I understand him. The way he feels about life is undoubtedly a true paradigm shift from yours, so why don't you try to walk in his shoes. I'm not trying to critisize, I just see a lot of people (despite acting with good intentions) taking the normal approach of rejecting new ideas. For some reason, people would give all the worlds grace to someone with a zulu warriors ideologies or something, but anyone from a western subculture has to conform.
Now Playing: Brenoritvrezorkre - "Aaprab Vergz Varbadre"
In regards to post 47, and anyone else with similar ideas... yes christianity preaches love n sh**, so does catholicism, and jews are supposed to be peace loving, but, look into religious history..... and look into why the Romans adopted Catholicism, and look at the fvcking jews now! it isnt just christianity thats the problem with the world, its all religion.... and class division.. but, thats a discussion for another thread, or website all together... lol
^Again since the ideal preaches about love then it is the people that cause the problems not the ideal. The people are the ones taking action not the ideal. Ideals do not make places worse people do people just make excuses for why all the negative things happen around them and they never want to admit that THEY are the problem so various ideals get scapegoated.
I don't think I got your message Kali. I'm just about to go to work but I'll check it sometime today :).
I honestly don't feel that without religious or political views the world would be any better. I'm not going to argue the merits of either, because those who truly want the world to be a better place will use these tools to try and bring that about. Those who are self-centered and power hungry will use them to step on whoever they need to in order to get what they want.
Much evil has been done in the NAME of religion or politics, but take them out of the equation and what do you have? A person willing to hide his own agenda behind the preface of ANY moral or ethical view. The fault lies not with the ideology, but with those willing to pervert it for their own gain. To misuse the ideology infers that the person no longer follows it.
ie. To kill in the name of Jesus or Allah.
By the dictates of their belief system this an oxymoron. To "kill in the name of" either is anti-thesis to each ideology.
In essence the fundamental teachings of religion tend to be rudimentory social mores. To quote a very good movie,
"Do not kill, do not rape, do not steal; these are principles which every man of every faith can embrace. These are not polite suggestions. These are codes of behavior and those of you that ignore them will pay the dearest cost. "
While this was quoted from a Christian reference, these tenets are also followed by some Satanists. And I would venture that Aetheists would agree with it as well.
While this might be taken as an arguement FOR religion, keep in mind that I never put one belief above any other. I simply wish to show how I believe it is people and the willingness to justify ones evil actions with ANY belief who are responsible for the state of our world. The sad thing is, the problem is deeper than we realise, and the solution that much harder to attain.
Sorry the above post was long winded, I hope it was well thought out. Just to add, I find Gorgoroth to be fascinating as a cultural phenomenon. And Gaahl, himself, to be a very intelligent person with some interesting views. Some not in standing with the traditional "Satanist" ideals. Though, Im not going to condemn or justify his actions either way. Just putting that out there. I listen to bands like Gorgoroth, Danzig and Deicide as well as Demon Hunter and Living Sacrifice.
the debate in this thread has gone beyond my attention span. mainly because im either too tired or drinking when i manage to get online nowadays..
i dare say most on here that know my posts are well aware of my views on organised religion.. so i wont go into a rant or anything., religion is always going to attempt to "persecute" the metal fraternaty at every single oppertunity. wether it be a school shooting that can be blamed on Manson or some bloke urinating on a church in bumshag nowhere.. because we represent the masses that reject the brainwashed majority. and it scares them free thinking and opinion has always scared them. heratic.. and herasy used to mean didnt conform to religious view or some such.
We scare them to the core. i say fear is good so make them scared
One thing that I noticed about this site, and honestly the reason I haunt these forums as much as I do, was that most of the regulars seemed like genuine, intelligent people.
I would see 2 guys arguing back and forth on one thread, but defending each other on another. Viewpoints differed, but were accepted and for the most part opinions were respected.
There's a definate stigma upon us metal-heads. We are unwashed, uneducated, uncultured and belligerent. This online community turns that notion on it's ass. Wait, I did shower today, so, yeah :)
I'm not into black metal, but I did check out the photos and I'm not sure what the fuss is about. I mean, it's essentially the same as a gwar show. Maybe less messy though.
Concerning religion. Best quote ever: "I was raised catholic...until I reached the age of reason." ~George Carlin
fried oreo's. Yes, they exist. They sold them at the carnival this year that came through town. I have yet to try them, because I'm still under the belief that I'm too young to die.
(this thread needs to get on topic soon before deathbringer raises hell about this not being an A7x thread; But I'm not gonna be the one to do it lol)
I would totally eat a fried t-shirt. I keep getting told I need more fiber in my diet.

Following on from my last post I didn't mean Jazz Black Metal I missed a comma out. Those of you that think I'm one of these f***ing kvlt black metal fans your completely wrong. Plus those of you that don't understand that Christianity screws so much up you haven't got a clue. Also in response to post 53 the idea of Christian black metal is farcical, I mean that's the blatant contradictions I'm talking about. Anyway if your a Christian please forgive me as that's what it says in your manual to life. \m/

Just because Black Metal has it's roots in Pagan and Satanic imagery doesnt limit it to non-christian lyrics. While the original lyrical content may be different and perhaps a new genre name would be in order, the music itself, while sounding ominous, has no religous bent. Keep in mind, many Psalms or Hymns have a very ominous or solemn sound. Also the classical parts or Gregorian chanting would be right at home.
Im not arguing for or against Christianity here. Im just pointing out that while a music may have originated a certain way, in our creativity people continue to evolve music into new directions. There are Christian bands with Christian lyrics, so why not Black metal style music with Christian lyrics.
"Let us try to teach generosity and altruism, because we are born selfish." -Richard Dawkins
I figured if we were throwing Dawkins quotes around I'd post this one. Instead of a simple iconoclastic message, this quote offers something useful to the reader. So many people are willing to tear it down, but rarely do people wish to build.
Netro: Cool man. I saw you over at the Biohazard thread and I have to agree with you. Those two are going to go at it for a while. godlike is a funny mother fvcker! Bully is... Well, he's just bully I guess. People like bully facinate me. They're kind of like a car wreck, in that; I just can't look away.lol.
NP: Final Six - Slayer
Personally, I can't stand Gorgoroth's music, but to be honest and fair, I've seen the crucifix defiled in worse ways, namely the KKK's usage. Gorgoroth are simply making a visual point with, I assume, no intent to harm. With that said, Christians should be offended...as offended as Satanists being offended by a simple protest. If you're not going to defend your faith, why have the faith in the first place? Seems chicken to me, to believe in case of retribution. Why I say I believe in the possibility of a god, but wouldn't praise said god even if I knew it existed. I don't praise "Satan" either. Neither deserve my praise. One gave me life to take it away with a promise of a paradise I have no comprehension of. The other would aid me until I serve no purpose, then cast me to the side. Both are shaky characters. Where's my win? And if one supreme being can exist, why not two? I've never bought that razor argument...Double blades exist. Why can I not be my supreme ruler?
thats a really good point there death. thats a really big deep thought. i believe that there is nothing but ourselves. we live our lives alone and the same life is repeated. we live the same life ,the same situations, everything is exactly the same. thats why i believe we experience de ja vu. we remember slightly what we experienced in the last life. as for the whole god satan belief and praising, all i got to say is "i am my own savior."
Christians<Both of the Gorgoroths, minus King ov Hell because he's a total prick.
I'm surprised this story is considered news though, they've been doing the crucifix thing for years. Is it really news every time 1 little group of Christians get their panties in a bunch over it?
"Plus those of you that don't understand that Christianity screws so much up you haven't got a clue"
You constantly claim that Christianty screws so much up now lets define what they screw up. Give me atleast 3 things that christianity is SOLEY responsible for.
BTW in post 105 it seems contradictory to say that christianity screws up the world then ask for the christians forgiveness. I mean if they are the sole cause of the problems of the world then shouldn't we be tryin to get rid of the problem not asking for its forgiveness? People don't go on AIDs walks then apologize for taking a stance against it. Just sayin it seems contradictory to me. If you think it isn't please enlighten me how it isn't.
Cruor you missed my point. I was being sarcastic, by saying that Christians opposing my views should forgive me as they really don't have an opinion. To them they were born Christians so they can't have a say, it's like if your a Chrsitian your basically an unevolved human being.

The best people in life have the following values, they are well rounded, open minded, have a positive outlook on life, understand peoples difference and don't have any kind of preconceived notion like Christianity. You don't need to have a religion to have moral values. Every good person in the world knows what is right, and what is wrong. So if your a great person in life then end up going to hell because you didn't believe that's bullsh**. Once people realize that God = Love the world will be a better place. THE END
"The best people in life have the following values, they are well rounded, open minded, have a positive outlook on life, understand peoples difference and don't have any kind of preconceived notion"
I agree with the last one, the others are definetly positive characateristics but I won't hold it against people without them. It is really the last one I think is a must. However its not just christians that don't follow this, the muslims and the jews anyone? What about the church burnings in Norway? An ideal by itself (and thats exactly what christianity is, an ideal) is not harmful to anyone its actions that cause harm. Who cares if a person chooses to believe the latter part of your post in 126, as long as they have the characteristics you posted earlier it doesn't matter.

Lol. Silly Gorgoroth. Besides, which version of Gorgoroth was this?
