Band Photo: Marilyn Manson (?)
After speaking recently with Bloody-Disgusting.com, shock rocker Marilyn Manson revealed that he is "pretty much finished" with his new studio album and that the album "will be more like 'Antichrist Superstar.'" Every song on the disc was written by Manson with bassist Twiggy Ramirez who rejoined the band back in January. He also revealed the former Limp Bizkit/current Black Light Burns guitarist will only be part of Manson's band for touring purposes only. More news on the album will be reported as soon they are revealed.

^No, I'm sure he's a big fan, he's just bipolar :p
I'm gonna stick with Wiggles on this one, despite liking a lot of Manson music. A vast majority of people who listent to MM also listen to a crapload of Nu-metal, so you really can't blame anyone for making the association. Besides, the only real differnce that I've seen between Industrial Rock and Nu-Metal is the rapping vocals.
And Shock rock isn't really a music genre. Slipknot, Kiss, Gwar, and Alice Cooper are all considered to be shock rock, and none of them sound remotely the same.
Now Playing: Public enemy- She Watch Channel Zero
FAN, and Wiggles, just to be clear, I wasn't faulting Wiggles for his association of MM with Nu-Metal. Totally understandable. But Wiggles, or other readers, would continue to make that error had no one questioned it.
And I'm curious about your age comment though Wiggles. Can you elaborate? Or were you being sardonic?
Christf***er, last I checked, makeup doesn't make a sound. People honestly only think of his music as "gothic" because they are too visually-led. However, to be fair, there have been sparse dark wave influences on his music, and dark wave music is part of the gothic culture.
Well Manson's place in Goth culture is undeniable whatever genre his music slots into. I've never been a fan but I thought some of his new singles were pretty good. Not metal or anything, but pretty good musically - his voice sounds great.
Now Playing: Satyricon - "Mother North"
Christf***er - I agree, but incorporating this small amount of melancholy does not qualify him as a goth act.
His place in goth culture seems to be quite limited. He seems to be "that guy that everyone thinks makes goth music" or "that guy that looks like a Tim Burton character." I'll admit he has personal aspects of himself that would make him personally a bit on the goth side (did you see his artwork? It's awesome stuff), but his music itself is not very much a part of the goth culture.
I would call Manson gothic the same way i call Fallout boy emo. Or Homosexuals gay(happy) for that matter. The music actually has little or no resmblance really to the progenitors of the musical genre, but the fans of the music have created a social class that onlookers have labeled incorrectly, so the name stuck. :p What can ya do, i wouldn't really fret about it.
I myself like Manson, although i have yet to hear any of the latest stuff, but I'm pretty much gonna agree with anybody who says Industrial rock.
Now Playing: Bionic Jive- conspiracy theory
isnt Nu-Metal stuff like Iron Maiden? so how did 'rappy vocals' become associated with that? Limp Bizkit, Slipknot and Slayer have rappy vocals... r they 'Nu-Metal'? lol.... maybe LB
i agree with anyone who thinks Eat me, Drink me was sh**... it was... and doesn't the Goth / Shock rock tag come from the image and lyrical themes rather than the music? Slipknot, Kiss, Gwar, Alice Cooper and Rob Zombie dont sound alike, but they all have bizzare stage shows and makeup/costumes... btw... im 17 and am the proud owner of Marylin Manson, Rob Zombie, and Rammstein shirts... oh.. i also have a 'Some Kind of Monster' - Metallica shirt... it was a breakup gift... i wouldntve bought it myself.... lol...
i also am looking forward to this album... if it is like the earlier stuff...
Whaaa? Did you just say Iron Maiden is nu-metal and Slayer have rapping vocals?! Whatever it is you're smoking it's destroying your f***ing brain. Was part of that post supposed to be a joke? If not, go to wikipedia and type in nu-metal.
Either way, Slayer don't rap they thrash end of story. Iron Maiden is heavy metal/NWOBHM.
Now Playing: Deicide - "Death to Jesus"
Whether or not you classify Manson as goth-rock or industrial rock or whatnot, I just hope that the new material is like AC.. though I haven't listened to Manson in a long time, AC was a killer album (at least back in its day).
Now playing: Meshuggah - "New Millennium Cyanide Christ"
Hey, f*** you "Johhny Boy." Eat Me, Drink Me was an awesome album. Being an honest Marilyn Manson fan I can admit when their music was a bit off (ie. Golden Age of Grotesque) but their last album was an amazing expression of what Brian was feeling during that time. I greatly anticipate the release of their next record now that Jeordie is back on board.
and... to Cynic.. i apoligise sincerly.. i got Nu metal and New Wave of British Heavy Metal confused... lmao... but... i stand by my conviction, slayer have rapping vocals.. and to ur statement "Either way, Slayer don't rap they thrash end of story" i never doubted that they thrash... i was just pointing out that Tom Arayas vocals are more rapped than sung... feel free to disagree, as i know u will... lol... i do agree with you however, that rammstein r definitely not nu metal... lol...
There's one or two songs on one album from a career of thrash that sort of sound like they could be rap. Slayer don't have rapping vocals, there's a difference between rap and singing metal fast - does Corpsegrinder rap on "Severed Head Stoning"? I think not.
Now Playing: Trouble - "Bastards Will Pay"
seriously this is pointless. music is muisic no matter what it sounds like, if it sounds good to you listen to it, if it doesnt then toss it out the window. marilyn manson has had good albums up until eat me, drink me, that one was kind of a dud, i own it, but i was expecting more. this album...its just awesome..i was one of the few hot topic workers that got to see the free concert..it was seriously some good sh**. but thats my opinion.
"killing is killing, weather done for duty, profit, or fun"
I just think they haven't put out anything really killer since Divine Intervention. Diabolus was just OK, and Hates was flat out terrible. I didn't get the last for pretty much the same reason as Hates, and I'm not really sure about this one. The one song I heard was pretty good, but I'd have to hear more.
Sorry, a few Slayer things on here and I went off on a tangent. the last MM I bought was Holywood, and it was just OK. Antichrist was massive for me at the time, but I've moved on. However, Mechanical is still my favorite. There is just something about the songs on that album. I think he has kinda outlived his relevence though.
I myself love me some Reign in blood, but SOuth of Heaven is one of those albums where EVERY song is really good. Despite it being my favorite, RIB had some tracks that i really can't get into, whereas SOH kicked a$$ no matter what track you put it on.
and for future reference, we can talk about Slayer all we want on this thread. All you have to do is say "and, oh yeah, Slayer toured with Marilyn Manson a while ago" and voila! you are on topic!
Now Playing: Slayer- Flesh Storm
FAN: You said viola... LOL.
AP: A lot of people share your opinion brother. The only problem I have with that is that Slayer is the ONLY band I know that has held true to their roots to the best of their ability. Reign was an epic album to the extent that Slayer didn't even know how epic it would be until after it came to be. I am a musician, and for me; that goes a long... Long fvcking way. If you look at all the other bands that came out of that era, you have to admit, that most sold out, or did what the record company said they should do to get their next royalty check. Not Slayer. They did what they felt they needed to do. Yes, Hanneman should have stepped up to the plate and penned most of their material, but it's not up to you and I to say what Slayer needs to do or not do. They need to grow within themselves. If you don't own Christ Illusion; I will gladly send you a copy, because it is just another chapter of what my boys do... Shread. There is some really ggod stuff on that album and if you don't do it now, you will regrret it later because none of us are getting any younger. Think about it and get back to me brother.
Blind: Agreed 100% with the epicness of RIB. Even they knew they would never be able to follow it up. I may not like all of Slayer's stuff, but I will always defend them to the utmost of my ability. Alot of the bands from that era HAVE sold out, but Slayer just changed in the way I didn't like. Some people dig the crap out of Hates, more power to them. I can think of far worse things to listen to than Hates. As far as penning the material, I think Kerry needs to put the pen down for a bit, make up with his dad, and hang out on the beach or something for awhile.
On another note, if you are just absolutely compelled to send me music you think I would like, we can make that happen. Times are tough these days, and I don't get to buy music like I used to. Besides, you would be doing your good deed for the day, quickening your pace to Heaven....or Hell.
If you want to know what kind of music I like, look me up through my MySpace account; lordshadow12000@yahoo.com to see what I'm into. As far as metal, I'm all over the place.

This is great news, their going back to their old roots! No more of this emo/love crap like their last album!
