Slipknot Tops Australian Charts
Iowa based nine-piece Slipknot have entered the Australian album charts at number one with their latest record, "All Hope Is Gone." The band may receive the number one spot next week in the U.S. but may be stopped by rapper The Game. "All Hope Is Gone" has reportedly sold between 230,000 and 250,000 copies in its first week of release in the United States.

To Post one, I had no problem getting the record, but I bought it the first day so i'm not sure if they ran out of copies shortly after. I hope it does debut at #1 cause I hate the game. All hope is gone is a good record, better than vol 3 but not as good as the first two albums. At this point with bands nowadays you can only hope that they put out a good to decent record. Same goes for metallica. The new record will probably be better than everything after the black album but not as good as anything before.
Totally. I agree. I'd say at least half the vocals from the album belong in stone sour. It's just weak. I know they're amazingly talented but slipknot have always been about the metal and going hectic. Sub verses was a great album but I was really hoping they would get back to their roots on this one.

slipnuts = garbage sh**. miss me??? oh sh** well of course you did! now, using itunes i'm going to be as ignorant as humanly possible and use 30 second samples to judge the new album
1. .execute. - as to no surprise slipknot's first track of every cd is just a mess of sh** playing over one another. no surprise there
2. the killing name- well this track surprised me honestly, but maybe just because i havn't listened to the rest of the cd yet, but this is surprisingly better than vol 3, which isnt hard because that record sucked d***.
3. sulfur- well the chorus of this song is pretty damn gay. if you didn't think stone sour was bleeding into and diluting slipknot's "heavy" sound then you're ignorant as hell.
4. psychosocial- this single does not impress me at all, however it does showcase what the 5 core members of the band can do. and once again that atreyu/stone sour esque chorus finds its way into the song.
5. dead memories- straight up singing. boooo
6. vendetta- sounds like an amon amarth song when that idiot corey taylor isn't yelling into the mic. otherwise it sounds like a "pulse of the maggots 2.0"
7. butchers hook- deceptivly looks like a death metal number but don't be fooled. its the same sing song crap.
8. gehenna- sounds like vermillion and the band poisonblack put together. bad.
9. this cold black- nothing really seperates this song from the record. sounds like track 2.
10. wherein lies continue- wow i thought i was listening to a7x when i hit the chorus. boooo
11. snuff- stone sour, not slipknot
12. all hope is gone- this is not a bad song actually, this is probably the one standout track on the horrible cd. although they really didn't need to put blasts into it cuz they aren't death metal.
13. child of burning time- another track that should have been on the latest stone sour album
14. 'til we die- more stone sour. it sounds like staind though. lmao
15. vermilion pt 2(bloddstone whatever)- as soon as i saw vermilion i assumed the worst, and i was right. yayyy
so, like a vulture, i picked this album apart. and honestly, i think it should be placed under "stone sour" at cd stores.

This album is mediocre at best. They definitely took it a step up from vol. 3. However, it is still a bunch of recycled garbage all the way through. At first I thought psychosocial may be an interesting ORIGINAL track. But after listening to the entire c.d. I realized that EVERY song is a psychosocial. The only track that relieves itself somewhat and treads away from the boring song structure is "All Hope Is Gone" and that's being generous. This album is basically like play doh. You can mold it into as many different shapes as you want, But in the end, it's still sh**ty smelling play doh.

Rage are a f***ing sellout band. I mean. "Reunion". Hmm smells of "money". Slipknot are big because they represent rebellion to thousands upon thousands of disatisfied young teenagers. And if a person connects to it then who the f*** are you to say that they suck?
But, lots of "maggots" on the net are general idiots.

Well I'm saying everyone (excluding jj) in that band are talentless wanna be psychopaths. RATM's lyrical content actually stood for something either than, were all f***ed because the worlds going to end because we can't put out a good enough c.d. to feed our egos. Slipknot should have made like RATM and quit a long time ago.

There ARE reasons other than money for bands to reform. "Slipknot are big because they represent rebellion to...dissatisfied...teenagers." RATM were big because they represented rebellion to dissatisfied teenagers and adults alike. And lets be honest, their message (about the government shafting everyone and anything to make its politicians rich, basically) is still relevant, and will likely always be relevant since it is the nature of power to corrupt weak human morals. Besides, "if a person connects to it then who...are you to say that they suck?"
If RATM reformed and started playing ozzfest type shows, maybe they'd be sellouts. But to reform and play shows at Republican conventions shows that they still stand behind their message and that their not solely in it for the money.
Oh, and Red, mellow out dude, Jesus! I don't agree with death wishes either, but Christ, man...

Ithink they have. I said almost. The message in the songs still having meaning but what they once stood for, ie fighting the man blah blah blah doesn't seem to matter to the band. I feel that the moment a political band refroms they have sold ouut. If Refused did it I'd say the same thing.

I never said that I hate slipknot once thank you very much. I liked Iowa because it was new. Ironically, there newest material isn't that NEW.

man, gone off the topic much? if you're all slipknot fans then why are y'all arguing? i think it's an awesome album. there are a couple of tracks on it that i don't particularly care for but the rest are great. gematria and all hope is gone are my favourites. the bonus tracks are a little disappointing and stonesourey but what can ya do?

If a band wants to make money, anyway....anyhow. Then so f***en be it!!! Doesnt mean they are sellouts! Im f***ing tired of the word" sellout"! That word is irrelevent. means nothing. So get over it! Bands change, sell clothes or shoes, play any show for money, put out more mainstream music. And any band that dont, hasnt made it yet and is still "underground"! I'll Lecture. FIRST THINGS FIRST. I clearly stated in my previous post that it was a sarcastic comment. If you want to get all butt hurt about it go nuts. But the fact that you lash out at someone so violently to try and prove your point makes you no better than me.
Secondly, your grammar is terrible and you should really rethink YOUR priorities. i.e. school > internet.
And to Korndogg, sellout is a word. Most people don't like slipknot now because they stopped writing good music and started writing music to appeal to the everyman. They did this because they love the money, not the music. When every band starts out, they can choose one of two paths. They start writing music because they love there instrument and want people to hear what they have to play, OR, they love the money and want the world to love them. Fame over fun. Bands like Meshuggah, Nevermore, DEP and many others all strive to write great music. But they don't do it for fame or fortune because THAT'S a sellout.

As for being sarcastic, I don't think that you can say that. There is nothing sarcastic about it. And as answering you with full force, at least I didn't wish death upon you, I wished a brain for you, which is less violent than what you said.

I wasn't actually saying you shouldn't say he was an idiot. I agree, he was, wishing death on people is both wrong AND retarded. What I was saying is take it easy on the swearing dude, hahah. Yep I swear about all those languages, ask any of my friends here where I am from and you'll know I am telling the truth about French and English. as for German I took 2 years of it in school but I can honestly say that I lost a lot of it and Spanish, well it was easy to learn because like French it is a Latin root so nothing really hard there. And it has nothing to do about being a bigger man, it's all about answering the insult about grammar so you got that coming.
And Psythe, you explained your point WAY better this time so yeah I concede the point, there was a LOT of swearing on it.

Wiggles, hippies aren't so bad. In fact, I'm pretty much a hippy who listens to metal. You know, rather than a standard metalhead, per se. It's the new-age hippies that get into astrology and tarot and all that nonsense that give being a hippy a bad name - the rest of us just like peace, love, happiness and marijuana hahah.
