Heavy metal godfather Ozzy Osbourne has been confirmed to perform at the Mixed Martial Arts event, Affliction: Day Of Reckoning. The event will be held in Las Vegas on October 11th and will be headlined by a bout between heavyweights Andrei Arlovski and Josh Barnett.
Affliction has utilized heavy metal performances before, when in May of this year, thrash metal titans Megadeth performed at their debut event, receiving positive reactions from the crowd.

I was at the Affliction show and Megadeth kicked ass..the live crowd loved it. The only ones who have "panned" it are the lame jocksniffers on some MMA websites. BTW, our site, The SAVAGE SCIENCE is the only place where you'll find metal and MMA. We'll be there front and center at Affliction: Day of Reckoning to watch Josh Barnett (who's a huge metal fan himself) and OZZY!

Unfortunately the musical performances also get panned (Affliction and EliteXC). People are there to see the fights and the action, and no matter how well metal fits with that, they don't necessarily want to sit through the performance. Hearing it as someone's theme song walking down the to the octagon is great, but performances at the events themselves suck and amount to nothing more than a sideshow diversion worse than the super bowl halftime show. EliteXC learned their lesson and removed the performances for their second prime time televised event at least...
Unfortunately Affliction is also down a couple big name fighters for this event too, so it may need all the help they can get.
