Ozzfest 2008, with METALLICA and OZZY OSBOURNE as headliners, grossed nearly $3.5 million and drew close to 30,000 people to Dallas' Pizza Hut Park, according to producers Sharon Osbourne and AEG Live. Sponsored by Affliction Clothing, this year's Ozzfest marked the return of the 13-year-old music brand after a free run at amphitheaters last year.
This year's one-off event did "fantastically well," Sharon Osbourne tells Billboard.biz. "The one thing is you want for the kids to go away and keep talking about what a great show it was, and that's what they're doing."
Osbourne says plans are for Ozzfest to return to Dallas again next summer, likely as a two-day festival, and other cities are also being considered.
"Ozzfest ain't going anywhere," she says. "We do try and shake things up and experiment, we're not the old donkey that plods on doing the same shit."
Meanwhile, 2008 has been a great year for Ozzy, Osbourne adds. "Ozzy had an unbelievable last record (Black Rain), an unbelievable year touring, and he's in the studio right now recording," she says. "We just signed a new deal with Sony for three more albums and we ain't going nowhere."

Omg I'm gonna kill Sharon I swear...hehe just kidding but the level of hatred is there. Ozzfest is a big thing for me, it's really the only real big "fest" over here in America anymore since they pulled the plug on SOTU, and I use it to bring like an army of friends to this huge f***in thing and get wasted and fight hardore dancers all day long, and the Slipknot thing ended up my only choice for something along those lines this year(although, it was still awesome nonetheless; flying headbutt anyone?...hahaha).
If Ozzfest becomes a two-day festival thing again next-year, grrrr.....
Now Playing: Nocturnus- "Lake of Fire" (thanks Bolthrower)
I think this whole "3 more albums" thing is cool...(Hope I don't eat those words later) but Ozzy seems like he could go on a good while. As for getting old, I don't mind if he keeps on singin' b-cuz I understand his singing WAY better than his talking.... I think I speak 4 everybody on that one!
Actually, this is exactly what I'd expect from Ozzy. I mean, is he the type of guy who goes " oh, let's try one album and see how it goes from there". Does he have 3albums in him? Well, Ozzy seems to think so. And the only guy who would know that anyway is Ozzy himself. After all... he was supposed to be dead some 20+ years ago, so...
I can't be mad at Sharon.Obviously she's doing something right.Otherwise Ozzy's career probably would have come to a screeching halt back in the late 80's early 90's.The going rumor is Ozzfest was apparently her idea(after lolapalooza turned them Ozzy down)I'm lokking forward to the new disc's.
