Metalunderground.com Gets "Hacked"
A software exploit has resulted in serious issues for Metalunderground.com late last week. The culprit was very difficult to track down, but we think we have it isolated and are now back up and running in full force with only minor data loss (a day or two of news and comments, etc). In the meantime, some links and site functions may not work, as we are rolling out sections of the site at a time.
While I'm really disappointed at the extended down time and how hard it was to troubleshoot this issue, I'm glad the data loss was minimal. It's always a learning experience and I hope to be better prepared for it next time.
Due to the nature of the attacks, I would highly recommend everyone updating their passwords on Metalunderground.com, as that info may have been compromised.
Also, if you happened to send us any emails from Thursday night through the weekend, please resend them.

Just to stay on topic friends, I was thinking while mowing my lawn this afternoon. You know, spiders shoot their webs from their abdomens, almost from their a$$ holes. When you look at it, spiderman shoots webs from his wrists. if he did evolve from a spider and their genes mixed, he should shoot it from his ass. There is a reason why spiders shoot from their a$$ so spiderman is a fraud. He is anatomically incorrect, thus a fraud. IĀ use to love him a lot but now he just doesn't make sense to me...

Question, is Spiderman really an evolved spider? Or just a genetically altered human? And for some reason I recall radiation being involved with the DNA he's stuck with; which doesn't follow evolution, that I know of, anyway. And Batman just has a thing for bats, I thought....

Well to explain why I worry when I dont hear from him is that he is a contractor. He is driving when not at a gig and some gigs involve ladders and the ocational crazy customer and that is just at the gig. He had one instance of some crazy guys son comming after him just for asking him to un-block a road (which its illegal to block a road unless you are doing road construction or have a parade permit) so that he could get to his next gig! So, I know its not that he does not love me or anything, I just worry something happened to him.

Yeah, can't really help that one, except that you don't have control over what is going on over there so even if you worry, it won't change anything. you are wasting valuable energy. And that comes from a guy who had to go over huge anxiety problems that impaired his life for 2 years.

I know. Problem is that I am a worry wart and too stubborn to go on meds for it. I just love my boyfriend so much that if something happend to him I would be devistated(sp?)! When that guys son came after gim he (my love,) said that the only reason he did not just attack him was because he loves me so much that he does not want to go to jail and be apart from me. IF he had gone to jail I would stick by him and wait for him. Even visit as much as allowed. When he gets home to me I am happy and greatful and even let him wake me before he leaves for work to get a hug and kiss as I am aware that it maybe the last.
Man, I've been coming to this site for years now. I read the news, comments and reviews. I just never took the time to write a comment. Then, this hack happened. OMG, I almost went crazy! It bugged the hell out of me not knowing the news of the Metal world. It was like withdrawl from a drink, drug, and/or sex. This site is just the best! Nothing compares. And some of the people here are like distant friends, even though I never comment anything. Kalis, Red, FAN, Dreathbringer, Diamond, Terminator, and everyone else. I love the comments. It's the most entertaining thing of my day. I confess myself a Maggot, but it's all in good fun, and just opinions. Well, I hope everyone is well. And remember, dirt + water=mud. Money x power + people=sh**.

Thanks for the support everyone. I'm glad to know we have so many dedicated fans and followers. Although I'd never even think of giving up on Metalunderground.com, it's good to hear to keep the motivation up!
As for going after the hacker - there's not much point. When I get caught up, I will take a little time to sift through the logs for the info, but this kind of attack is pretty common and the hacker and/or scripts are usually out of country. Often the attacks are carried out by virus-infected computers as well, but this attack definitely seemed more targetted.

There should be international laws put in place that if you hack a site you are punished!
Deathbringer, I wanted to send you an e-mail cheering you on, but thought I would be a nusance rather than a help. I have thanked you on many occations for this site as its been the best metal site experiance I ever had and mean every word!
Guys, I want to also tell you that I truly appreciate you all! Even when we dis-agree. This year has been lesson after lesson of not taking things for granted and the hacker has only made that lesson even more clear to me. Yeah man, most of the regular users on this site have become friends to me even though I have no clue what they look like. But that's what metal is all about, underground but with dedicated fans that sticks together.
Kali, about anxiety, if it poisons your life why not take them ? I mean I tried to get over anxiety myself but couldn't so I went downhill. It became acute, I developed agoraphobia, had a hard time going out of the house, I had panic attacks every f***ing day...then my doc said that there was nothing I could do alone because I dud not have enough serotonin produced from my brain. I take a pill every day, it's a very low dose btw so no side effects, and I am in total control and I have never felt that great in my whole life. If you need to talk about it, email me friend

Glad to see everything's back up and running. Although I don't have access to the internet often, I was really beginning to miss the site.
About the Batman / Spider Man thing, that's freakin' hilarious. Why doesn't Spider Man shoot the web out of his ass??? It would make it so much more hilarious and realistic (not that it's really believable to begin with though)!

Besides the fact, spelling has nothing to do with age or competence. I think my mother is a hypocritical twit and she can spell like a dictionary. I have a friend who builds computers from scrap and designs video games and is one of the only people in America I know whose knowledge of WW2 rivals my own, yet he can't spell for sh**. He thinks phoenix is spelled fenix.

Death, the Americans were the ones nailing everything. The China team fell off the balance beam more than once and kept falling off the bars too. America did go out of bounds a few times, but did stay on the apparatis's. I wasnt watching the Russians closely, but they were in red, white and blue suits. The Americans had a star on their chest.

Well there's that Japanese swimmer who kicks a$$ at the breast stroke. Then a guy from Togo, Africa won bronze in white water kayaking. They've never won anything. China's men won gymnastics gold, which I think was probably just good survival skills. I think they all would've been severely reprimanded had they gotten anything less.

Russia does show a lot of ultra nationalism tendencies that are very disturbing right now. Putin has created some sort of youth program that really brainwashes them to the point of wanting to die defending Putin. you would think that Putin is not in power anymore but he still is but this time from the backbench, which is even worst.
Thing is you will never see Russia in NATO for they have their own sort of NATO and they don't really share our values. Problem is we have a lot of ex USSR nations in NATO and that creates ton of problems especially if Russia starts to f*** around with them...

I actually agree Kalis. I mean one of our girls did stumble badly a few times again, but this age thing bothers me. Age must play a huge factor or China wouldn't bother cheating that way, and there wouldn't be a rule about it. It really pisses me off that they're getting away with it when at least two of them seem clearly under 16.

Well no because the whole point of a sporting event such as this is too see athletes competing after years nad years of hard training and see who's the best under normal physical condition not altered conditions. I mean If I wanted to, I could take some dope and get bigger stronger faster but under normal circumstances I would be at a sub level. It takes away the awe of the whole thing because you look at it and you go : pretty good but is he clean ?
Take for example Mr.Phelps. He is phenomenal but there is still that little thing behind your head that goes : did he take something or not ? Then there is doubt and it blows. And you will always have f***ing cheaters trying to find a way to go around the testing, so everybody still does it. Just today at least 2 athletes tested positive and went home. Well, I do see your point, but I still stand by my point that if everyone is doping it defeats the purpose, which is to give you an edge so you can beat the person next to you. And as far as Phelps: if there were ever a perfect time to try and screw the States, it'd be him. So if he's testing negative, I believe it. (He's tested every day)

I'm not sure what's up with he occasional redirects here. I haven't seen them myself, but have gotten a few error messages from my blog showing a Metalunderground.com or other URL (which should not be used to access my blog). It could be some weird DNS caching due to the temporary redirection of this site while I was working on the server after the initial attack.

By the way, I want to make it clear that I'm not defending doping. It does ruin sports and people. I'm just saying it's silly to accuse every Olympic athlete of doping. And that just because an athlete is performing extraordinarily well, doesn't mean they're doping. Doesn't mean they shouldn't be tested either.

No I agree with what you are saying but it's not that silly to have that thought at the back of your head that most of the dominant ones are doped up because we have been screwed over and over again regarding that. They do test top athletes a lot of times but they can screw those tests all the way. It's easier to screw than to find a way to stop the cheating.
I mean I agree with the fact that when an athlete is performing extraordinary well doesn't mean he is doped up but because of all the other assheads we have a doubt in our heads that ruins all the fun of it. We had in the 88 Olympics a great moment when Canadian Ben Johnson won the 100 meter race but the day after was tested positive. That hurts as f***. Look at cycling, all the top performers where found with dope in their bodies, since then cycling is down in popularity because it lacks something genuine.
Let's just say that Phelps would still be a phenomenal athlete without drugs (I am not saying he takes them) but the freaking doubt keeps creeping in all the time.

It was -3 Celcius here last night, and while I love Winter, I'm VERY ready for the return of warmth! I'll take Summer lovin', any day :)
That said, Winter is my favourite Season. Nature just seems more poetic in Winter. Autumn follows very closely as second best Season hahah.

Summer naked sucks very bladly.l -3 Celsius ain't that cold dude. Here it gets to -30 Celsius in winter and without the wind factor. Add it and you get -40 and worse. that means that you get frost bites in about 5 minutes if your skin is exposed. It's not like that every day but the average day in winter here is -15 to -20. Dude you sleep so well in the winter. Autumn rocks because it's colder and spring rocks because it's colder...cold is goooooooooood

haha me and two of my friends started a game just for laughs awhile back where you try and think of the funnies thing you can that a monkey(s) could be doing. The Rabbit glasses thing just made me think of it.
i.e. A group of monkeys playing Rock Band, A bunch of Monkeys driving a semi-truck down the highway, A monkey riding a tricycle... the list goes on and on. The image it leaves in your head is priceless when you actually think about it.

Nah I like them but it's not my favourite, actually every day I have a different favourite band. I never liked the question who's your favourite band of all time because it depends on how I feel. I don't really remember but I think I chose Red_Chord because I was listening to red chord when I found this site and I put the underscore to make sure it wasn't taken...but you guys just call me Red and I like it that way. sounds better than Red_Chord plus it's better than Purple (fag) or Brown (sh**)...and that way you still recognize me.
