Down Rumored To Have Fourth Album In The Works
Although their latest album came out less than a year ago, posts on Downboard.com report that Down is rumored to have a fourth album planned.
According to a post, the name of the new record will be called "Down IV," and it will be released sometime next year if the band "doesn't start recording" before 2010. Along with a new record, Down is also planning their first-ever live DVD, possibly including their live performances in Europe, which were shot by Jim Van Bebber.

AlliedFront676, the reason it's classified as stoner metal is because some of the songs are slower and heavier than traditional metal, I guess. Sometimes it's hard to blur the lines between sub-genres... there's just so many of them. But if you're looking for some good stoner metal, check out stonerrock.com... some of the stuff on there is awesome, but some of it sucks, too. Some of it's not even stoner metal, it's death/black metal. Anyway, I recommend you check it out.
I read that Down actually falls into the stoner metal/sludge metal category..similar to bands like Crowbar and Eye Hate God... It is possibly due to the fact that the band is from Louisiana..as are the other examples given in this post. I can definitely hear a slow plodding rhythm to songs from NOLA...especially on certain songs.
I know the history of NOLA scene and yea everyone seems just lump bands from that general area into stoner metal, if anything they still have allot of Southern, Bluesy, Sabbath, Zepplin influences. But even all those elements are in stoner metal. I just dig Down, and i hope they just grind that axe for a long time.
Yeah I am with everyone else! Down makes incredible bluesy, southern music. Down to me, sounds, like I am down home on the bayou...definitely gives you a southern mentality. I have been to Louisiana a couple of times - great music scene, but I can see where the blues comes from. This band - Crowbar and COC make me feel great.
