Trivium Announces New Album Release Date

Trivium have announced that they will be releasing their fourth album this year on September 30th. Although no official word has been given yet on the name of the album, it is rumoured to be called "Shogun."

Frontman Matt Heafy says of the new album: "For the first time, we can't look at our songs and say who the riffs sound like. We're really making our own stuff and our own kind of music and art form, and that's exciting."

Trivium will also be a part of the Unholy Alliance tour this year with Slayer and Mastodon.

Yeah, how funny is that? They're releasing their fourth album, and it's the first one that has riffs that don't sound like another band. How lame. It's quite sad actually that they would even say something like that about their own music. I know if it was MY music, I'd be like "fxck you, this is us, if you don't like it, don't listen." I mean, I understand that it would be wrong to assume things if this was their first album, but it's not. These guys are 0 for 3 so far, and a fourth doesn't stand to be a decent prospect, either.

Post 7, this release is as close to "automatically shxtty" as anyone's going to release this year.

It's pretty obvious that they're pigeonholed and by saying that sh** out loud in public is like saying "My band is unoriginal. On our new album, we actually sound like Trivium!" But that's a crooked angle because who really knows what Trivium sounds like? I've heard their CDs, but I'm not sure I've heard what THEY sound like, and if I have, I didn't like it, and that trend is likely to continue with all future releases.

I saw Trivium LIVE and they suck a$$....I saw them twice, as a matter of fact. They were trying very hard to sound like metallica or go in thrash type direction. My friends and I were all in agreement that they were blatantly ripping off guitar passages from Metallica...So I was not the only one who saw and hear it that night. Guess what, I also bought The Crusade...biggest mistake of my life.....I hope the new album is better than the "METALLICA" Crusade....lol
