Gama Bomb Posts European Tour Blog

Irish thrashers Gama Bomb have posted the following blog via Myspace:

"We've returned. From our first European tour, from the wilds of central Europe, from the dead: Pick one. If you haven't paying attention, we'll try to sum it up for you. Two weeks, 11 shows, a bunch of interviews, a staggering amount of booze, over 5,000 kilometres travelled, God knows how much salted meat choked down, and some of the best, greatest, weirdest times of our 'career' (inverted commas are our own). We could prattle on about the amazing gigs (for amazing they were, boys and girls) and all the cool places we saw, but it's more interesting to write a big weird list of crap instead, isn't it?

Places we slept:
The world's smallest house (but a very nice one)
A post-apocalyptic warehouse in the former Eastern Bloc
A theatre company's commune
A clip-together motel
A kitchen floor
A kid's bed
A Berlin hideout
An old woman's basement
A narrow Amsterdam hotel (cheers E)

Things we drank:
Diesel beer
Long Island Iced Teas
Aktien Bier
Frozen Peach Daiquiris
'Dirty Harry'
Unnamed happy hour beers
Vodka mixed with Fisherman's Friend
Black Bush

Stuff we saw:
A man in tracksuit bottoms and a white t-shirt with a studded belt on
The nice lady from Kerrang! falling off her barstool
Indiana Jones
The John Frost Bridge in Arnhem
A bald, 40-year-old Dutchman in a rubber dress
Disgusting German porn from the 90s
A man who wears his granny's glass eye as a necklace
A pool full of nude old people splashing about

Gig things:
A guy was crowd-surfed right out of the building in Arnhem
A guy smacked his face off the stage in Aalst
Someone shouted 'you fucking Irish guys' at us
Another guy shouted 'Catholic scum'
Lots of people shouted 'Fortified Zone'

Things we learned:
If you want to piss in Germany, you'd better pay
Metal women like to punch men
Don't trust a drunkard with a marker
Driving with the van doors open is amazing
Fruit is essential to surviving
Vodka is best served freezing cold
Mechanics are hard to find in Amsterdam
Bread is not the same
People really like speed metal
Peanut Lion bars still exist

People we'd like to thank:
Filip (for the driving), Abnormity (for the all-round coolness and brotherhood), Cesar and Lukas, Katie P, Dave the snapper, Wok To Walk, Fridjoff, his mum and dad, Laurens, Sylvia, Pascal the rockin' DJ, Danny in Aalst, the nice lady in Zaandam, Rory McGuigan, Betamax and that other girl, Flo, Robert, all them folks who came to the gigs and everyone we've forgotten."
