Sevendust Explains Rockstar Mayhem Cancellation
Sevendust members Morgan Rose and Lajon Witherspoon have been interviewed for next months issue of Revolver magazine. In it, Rose explains why the band were unable to perform at the tour.
"We would've loved to be on that tour, but plain and simple, we couldn't afford to do it. I'm not going to say how much money we were offered, but at the end of the day the numbers didn't make any sense. It was like, 'If we borrow MACHINE HEAD's gear for every show, ride in a car with no crew guys, and don't bring any suitcases because they won't fit in the car anyway, we may be able to pay our bills at the end of this. But probably not.' So that was the bottom line. We would've lost our houses. And I'm not letting my kid and my wife live on the street just so I can go do some shows."
"I don't want to sit here and say, 'If they had given us more money, we would've been able to do it,' but that's the damn ticket right there!" said Witherspoon. "If they had given us more money, we would have been able to do it."
The band will be embarking on a tour with Saliva this summer.

I think this band is overrrated anyways. Usually, their fans are a bunch of 40-something metal heads still trying to hold on to their glory day memeories going thru mid-life crisis and are like "huh-huh, they're cool" and can't make a sevendust show cause their wifes make them stay home to watch the kids..LOL!
What they're saying is they aren't getting paid enough to be able to make any sort of profit off of that tour. It's smart. They did the same thing that venues look at when booking a package. Will they be able to afford to be able to play. You have to take into consideration gas and food. And if something were to happen to their van or whatever they would be completely f***ed. All bands have to go through a process like this. Why lose a bunch of money so you can play shows? They would actually profit off of doing smaller shows.
AGREED !!!
Some people just don't get that. You can say it's all about the music all you want. But if the bill's aint getting paid then what's the point. These guy's have families & bill's and lives. To expect them to perform in a show for less than what's atleast considerd standerd for a band like them.A highly underated band at that. It's just a bit selfish of the fan's to expect that much from them.
When I heard about them dropping off I was mad. But then, I actually heard LJ talk about it, before this post, and I understood. I mean when you're putting everything you've got into the band, you need to get some of it back. I respect the hell out of these guys and contrary to what Teddy says, I am not a 40 year old trying to hold on to my youth. I have listened to these guys since the beginning. And will listen to them til I die. I cant wait to see these guys again. And I like when they do smaller tours and in the smaller venues.
Yeah but I had such a terrible night of drinking on my 21st that I don't remember more than an hour of it after I started drinking. Lol. I had over 20 drinks in less than an hour and a half. Ruined it for me quite a bit waking up in my own vomit. Hahahah.
Just so something is on topic: this band really isn't as generic as everybody claims they are. I agree that the music is but the vocals and screams standout against some of the other nu-metal/rock bands. ;)
^^Sevendust are better than a LOT of nu-metal/rock bands out there. Most of them, in fact. They're up there with Mudvayne, it's better than the usual... but I still don't like 'em. Well, actually I liked everything from Animosity BACKWARDS. Not trying to sound like an elitist 'original gangster' or something, but everything from Seasons on has sounded WAY too similar to Animosity for me. Good, they made that record, it was awesome, now let's add something new to the mix, guys! I don't know about you, but I don't want an Animosity Mark II, III or whatever the latest is... Great band, but they really need to get fresh with their ideas.
Oh, and I'm 20 :) hahah

From what it sounds like Sevendust shouldn't expect anything more then smaller tours for now on due to the fact that no one is really into them at best they should look into small clubs and fairgrounds cause after passing up Rockstar Mayhem based on money then I dont see many options left for them.
