The Tidal Wave Metal Festival, born from the now defunct "Making Waves Festival," has announced a tentative lineup for the two-days free event. Celebrating it's 11th year of putting on the heaviest, FREE outdoor music festival on the west coast, Tidal Wave showcases the best thrash, doom, grind, punk, old school metal, etc., that the Bay Area, and beyond, has to offer.
The Tidal Wave is free to concert-goers, completely paid for by banner advertising, sponsorship, donations, and volunteers and is truly unlike any other music festival in existence. The free event is like a picnic in the park, with metal. You may bring whatever you want (dogs, food, coolers, cigarettes, mullets etc. are all ok). There will be raffles for merchandise donated from various sponsors and bands all day all day.
Here is the tentative line-up for The Tidal Wave 2008 festival:
Saturday:
Zombie Holocaust
Detente
Havok
Psychosomatic
Attitude Adjustment
Hirax
Exodus
Sunday:
Pillager
Ancient At Birth
Embryonic Devourement
Agenda Of Swine
Saros
Ludicra
(more bands to be determined)
The Tidal Wave Festival previously announced that they will be allocating a percentage of its proceeds to H.E.A.R (Hearing Education & Awareness for Rockers) this year through a charitable partnership agreement, enabling sponsorship donations to Tidal Wave as tax-deductible for the first time ever.
H.E.A.R, a Northern California based non- profit, seeks to educate and assist musicians and music fans alike against the risks associated with hearing loss, due to a prolonged exposure to loud music. H.E.A.R's key contributions include high-fidelity ear plugs, custom-made musician's earplugs, and molds for monitors. H.E.A.R's products are distributed nation-wide, most notably at concerts. Backed by both medical and musician communities alike, H.E.A.R has also conducted multiple research studies, surveying the susceptibility of hearing loss, and the prevention thereof- particularly among musicians and frequent concert go-ers.
