Mindless Self Indulgences "If" Debuts At #27 On Billboard Top 200 Chart

Mindless Self Indulgence (MSI) debuts on Billboard's Top 200 Album Sales Chart at an astonishing #27 with their album "if." Released Tuesday, April 29th on UCR/The End Records, "if" has already spawned amazing chart numbers prior to album release. Still holding steady since its debut six weeks ago, the single "Never Wanted To Dance" remains at the #1 Position on Billboard's Hot Dance Single Sales Chart. No strangers to the dance charts, singles from their last full length, "Straight to Video" and "Shut Me Up," have both hit #1 and remained in the Top Ten for over a year each.

MSI also prove that in addition to their sales and chart rankings, they are a formidable presence online, with a fan-base which is not only rabid, but also incredibly faithful. For the last month, MSI have remained the Number One Band on MySpace Music in all territories, and in all genres they are competing for. It should be noted, MSI is the ONLY band to remain on the Top Ten Artist Chart consecutively since the inception of MySpace Music. In addition to MySpace, the band has recently had Top 5 rankings on YouTube as well as a smorgasbord of other social networking sites.

The band is currently at the start of its national Spring/Summer tour and will be playing Fort Lauderdale's Revolution tonight with dates leading them back to a massive hometown show in NYC on June 27th. The Birthday Massacre, Combichrist, London After Midnight, Hollowboy, Tub Ring, Fake Shark Real Zombie, and A Kiss Could Be Deadly are support in select cities.

Mindless self indulgence is NOT metal - the band is weird, to me. I can appreciate technical skills, but this making random beeps, and sh1t like that - how is that even entertaining? I don't like it..perhaps the band wants to be unique. It still doesn't make them good. No melody....for instance I hate Psyopus.

MSI is terrible. The singer irritates me way too much, and the lyrics are downright awful, immature, and stupid. Psyopus on the other hand is technical, original, and stands out in the sea of cookie cutter mathcore bands

I have a quirky side (Gemini here) that gets pulled by stuff like this, and unless you're a robot, there's some small kid inside that can briefly appreciate the immaturity of the lyrics. I haven't heard this respective album, but the second album had some fun easter eggs in it. I hold them in a similar (but no where near as technical or remarkable) vein as Durforsog, where there is a certain abstractness to the music that tends to appeal to my inner retard. Nothing quite more than a novelty I'll admit, but worth a listen now and then just to cleanse my musical palatte.

To Everyone in this Thread with a Piss Poor Attitude:

Definitely not metal though, I agree. But neither are half the bands promoted on this site. Take it up with the admins, or ignore it. What sense is there in bashing the sites' motives in random news posts? Do you honestly expect your voice to be heard by the greater web powers that be from a simple, mispelled, and grammatically questionable post? I ask that question in complete seriousness. This mindless and focusless complaining that you propagate and enable is a rabidly growing plague on the internet. Do you realize the energy that you waste by pushing "Post My Comment"? Not only the energy from your index finger, but the energy it takes your pc to calculate that computation, the energy your brain burns by the emotion firing in your skull, and the energy it takes others to lather rinse repeat to show you what a douche you're becoming? You and everyone like you are gloriously destroying this world, a little bit at a time. You are just another molecule in the avalanche. Nothing more, nothing less. You serve to find no solution, only to b**** about the lack of one. That is the definition of insanity, friend. 'Google' it.

I don't say these things to incite a flame war, or to entice personal retaliation, and I certainly don't mean any comment above to be a personal attack on your entire existence. What I am commenting on concerns things greater than you, yet you have a sticky hand in the toiletbowl, as have I in the past. I am continually learning that things don't get done by senseless and directionless b****ing, they get done by raising concern to the unconcerned. I'm tired of threads becoming nothing more than a Yahoo chat room. "This band rocks!", "No, that band sucks!", etc. BORING. What, in that deterioratng style of opinion, does that bring to the conversation? You aren't allowing for others' opinions. Instead, you close off the conversation with 'this is my final say on the subject' kind of answers. Do I really care to hear your simplistic, shorthand opinion of a band's worth, over and over and over and over? God, it's getting tired. Such meaningless, voided posts are viral. Where is my antidote?! The only antidote is knowledge and intelligence, and abstinence. I stopped chatting in Yahoo rooms because of this plague, and now I find that I haven't escaped it after all. It's only mutated and infected other forms of web postings. These instances are like bad drivers; I just want to run them off the road into a tree, but that wouldn't teach them anything, it would only successfully do the same thing your posts are doing: adding more idiocy to an ignorant world.

Let's get back to brass tactics people. Let's try to allow a certain level of conversational decency to the www, and to those who inhabit [and] infect it. Let's attempt to better the common vernacular of of the web boards and keep the conversation flowing.

Once again, this isn't meant as an insult, this is because I care. I'm showing concern to the unconcerned. I won't, however, take pity on those who harbor a deficiency in reading between the lines and only pick out the negative. That kind of behavioral retardation is classified as highschool, and I won't have any part in the coddling thereof. So, take my suggestions for what you will, or ignore them completely.

I doubt I'll feel compelled to check this thread again, so any concerns can be billed to: eschatological.humor@gmail.com

Keep the metal alive.
