Sounds Of The Underground 2008 Cancelled?
Rumours are beginning to circulate that Sounds Of The Underground tour 2008 will not be happening this year due to, among other things, a lack of suitable headliners and a declne in the economy.
Last years tour was infamous for featuring "death rapper" Necro and his subsequent departure mid way through it.

I'd be willing to bet that they expected Ozzfest to be a full touring festival as well. It does seem odd that Ozzfest and SOTU are mostly out of the picture and the big tour is a Slipknot+Disturbed tour. Seems like there's plenty of room for a big METAL tour or two still.
Sounds of the underground wasnt the greatest last year but it didnt suck in chicago there was mushroomhead who kicked sooo much ass, shadows fall, Chimaira, Amon Amarth, and then the random special guest,and who could forget about my personal favorite Gwar who always puts on an amazing show i love sounds of the underground it opens people to new ideas. and there is a lot of competition so i could see whyd they be cancelling.
Sounds of the Underground should put on another show. i went to the one in Milwaukee and it was amazing. Absolutly rocked my f***ing socks off. Amon Amarth, Shadows Fall, JFAC, and GWAR completly took the Rave to the ground. Absolutly amazing. Even if it were just a few smaller bands and f***ing GWAR it would definitely be worth it.
Sounds of the Underground being canceled this year would not surprise me in the least. Last year's lineup was sub-par at best. There were too many post-hardcore/screamo bands and not enough decent metal bands. It looks like there will be no SOTU at least this year. The official website hasn't been updated since last year and there hasn't been any other word on whats happening other than it not happening. They need to think what they're doing before they do it. Goatwhore deserved a better spot than first before all the bands that almost got booed off stage.
Metal Masters Tour with Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Testament and Motorhead....those bands are old metal!!! who wants to see them anymore??? not me check out Summer Slaughter Tour and Thrash and Burn tour if u want a real show this summer since Ozzfest is not available to many ppl either.

yes, the Summer Slaughter tour is gonna kick ass. I think the line up is something like, The Black Dahlia Murder, Kataklysm, Vader, Cryptopsy, Despised Icon, Aborted, The Faceless, Born Of Osiris, Psycroptic and Whitechapel. Definetly something there for every fan of Death Metal. Although I was dissapointed when Ozzfest was "cancelled" or whatever, I do think these "medium size tours"(also Thrash and Burn) will work out really well, they just need more advertising.

mainstream bands ....u know...f***ing god forbid u cant get trivium or slipknot to headline a festival that will only bring in 12 year olds who know 3 songs.
if organizers were smart they would realize mainstream might be good to make a quick buck but the lengendary underground bands or underrated big bands would draw not only a mass of true metal heads (who would come with money for merch) but would make a reputation for the festival to be true and no mainstream bullsh**

summer slaughter is nothing but the "IT" tour....its gonna sell to the hot topic kids, the hardcore, deathcore,gaycore, bullsh**core, genericcore kids,
thrash and burn seems to me like a .......same thing kinda...more of a hot topic kid tour
but nonetheless its a tour full of fads

I don't know if it was officially announced, but yes, I've heard from reliable sources that SOTU 2008 will not be happening, but no specific reasons were given.
