I Set My Friends On Fire Signs To Epitaph Records
Ironic and completely original, experimental electro-grind duo I Set My Friends On Fire has signed to Epitaph Records with plans to release their debut album in the fall.
Consisting of Matt (Vocals) and Nabil (Instruments/Programming/Vocals), I Set My Friends On Fire defies conventional genres by cross-breeding electronica with elements of grind and hardcore for one of the freshest sounds around. Formed in late 2007, the duo became an overnight hit with their incredible rock/screamo cover of Soulja Boy's "Crank Dat," which attracted over 50,000 plays per day and the attention of Epitaph owner Brett Gurewitz. In March of 2008 the band signed to Epitaph Records and began writing music for their first album due out this fall.
I Set My Friends On Fire's unique music, hot merch and hilarious self-made videos have helped the group build massive underground buzz and a legion of fans via the group's Myspace page. With over 6 million page views and eighty nine thousand friends, ISMFOF are the face of DIY in the digital age.
"The album will have every genre you ever heard of mixed into one big bowl," explains Matt. "It's going to be crazy! Not your usual listen." "Fans should brace themselves for something that is very different and unique, but also very familiar at the same time," continues Nabil. "We pride ourselves on thinking outside the box as well as not having any limitations musically or creatively-speaking."
Fans can get a rare glimpse of I Set My Friends On Fire performing live at Bamboozle on Saturday May 2nd at 9:30 PM on the Nokia Ticket Rush Stage.

How can this band be the DIY of the digital age? Saying DIY and MYSPACE in the same sentence is hardly fair. DIY is drawing your own fliers, taking them to Kinko's, then wood pasting them to every inch of telephone pole you can find. Not f***ing logging in on your gay-ass myspace page and posting a f***ing bulletin so all your "friends" that really only added you to pad THEIR friend list can see it, delete it, and promptly forget who the f*** you are. MYSPACE has helped 10,000,000 sh**ty suburban cookie-cutter _____core bands that sound exactly the same get noticed and I think myspace should be shunned for that, but, hey, what do I know, right?
Experimental electro-grind screamo? Please. The only thing these gaywads are setting on fire is their genitals as they rapidly thrust them in and out ad nauseam of each other's puckered rusted rural country a$$holes. f***ing myspace is ruining music. Indie does not mean "independent" anymore. Independent means "without myspace my co-workers wouldn't know I play an instrument".
Dimebag has to be twirling in his grave. And with good reason, too. What a f***ing joke.
