Scott Weiland And Velvet Revolver Parting Ways

Band Photo: Velvet Revolver (?)

VELVET REVOLVER members - Slash, Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum and Dave Kushner - have announced that they are parting ways with singer Scott Weiland.

Weiland has issued the following statement to EW.com:

"After reading the comment by Duff, Matt, Dave and the illustrious "GUITAR HERO," Saul Hudson, a.k.a Slash, I find it humorous that the so called four "founding members" of Velvet Revolver, better known to themselves as "the Project" before I officially named the band, would decide to move on without me after I had already claimed the group dead in the water on March 20 in Glasgow.

"In response to Slash's comment regarding my commitment, I have to say it is a blatant and tired excuse to cover up the truth.

"The truth of the matter is that the band had not gotten along on multiple levels for some time. On a musical level, there were moments of joy, inspiration, fun... at times, but let's not forget the multiple trips to rehab every member of the band had taken (with the exception of one member, no need to mention his name).

"Personally speaking, I choose to look forward to the future and performing with a group of friends I have known my entire life, people who have always had my back.

"This also speaks to my commitment to my music and my fellow band mates in STP and to the fans who I feel would much rather watch a group of musicians who enjoy being together as opposed to a handful of discontents who at one time used to call themselves a gang.

"p.s. - don't be fooled by veiled trickery

"p.p.s - good hunting lads, I think Sebastian Bach would be a fantastic choice."

The statement from Slash regarding the split is as follows:

'This band is all about its fans and its music and Scott Weiland isn't 100 per cent committed to either

"Among other things, his increasingly erratic on-stage behaviour and personal problems have forced us to move on."

Good riddance to Weiland. That guy was genuinely f***ed in the head and full of himself. I dont think that man ever wore a shirt except for the video of "falls to peices" (ironic isnt it?) were he wore a Ramones t shirt that bearly covered his nipples and looked like it was for a 5 year old.

Hmm after expressing all that hatred for the man i DO feel like a nice Dr Pepper! Without Chinese Democracy of course.

Velvet Revolver were okay, but if you ask me they don't hold a candle to STP. Even though I see both bands possibly failing miserably after this split, it may be what's best for both parties. Besides, nothing seems to be deterring Weiland from his drug use anyway. Detox would help, but for how long?

They made it official because he was leaving anyway and they are trying to save face. STP is 100x better then VR was or ever will be so this is only bad news to the few idiots that like VR more then STP and GNR. STP didn't have a bad song on any of their 6 albums (including their Might Joe Young demo album) so I can't see how anyone can think they will fail after they reunite. They will tour with their greatest hits and everyone will suck up to them (like the radio stations are currently) even though they never got the credit they deserved their first time around. Then they'll put out an album in 2010 and we will all rejoice and forget VR ever existed.

I predict that theres going to be a bunch of rumors about Bach, Axl and every major rock singer from the 90's taking over the vocal position. Then I think they'll get a "no-name" vocalist, their popularity will die down and then an eventual break up following a half assed album release within the next 2 to 3 years. This isnt what i want to happen, mind you, this is just what my gut is telling me

First 2 albums from STP are really awesome! Core was the best, but the "purple" album was great too. The Deleo Brothers made the band along with Scott's great vocals. I agree with the statement that VR are gonna probably fail within the next few years. Making mainstream, radio-friendly rock tracks is no way to earn a respected and lasting career.

I think Slash should just give up and live off the huge wealth he got from GNR, and play as a guest musician on other bands albums, or appear randomly at live shows to play with bands. At least that way he could retain some sort of credibility.

HIM are the result of a failed balls tranfusion when women make direct eye contact with Dani Filth. So to answer Kalis' question, when women look at Dani Filth a glitch occurs in Filth's programming and since he has no testicles to take, he attempts to give the balls that he has absorbed and winds up creating bands like HIM, Bullet For My Valentine, and MCR. This is how EMO began as a government plot to corrupt America's youth and make them weak.

Never really liked G-n-R, could care less about them. No doubt they're talented, but just not my style. S.T.P. on the otherhand are an exellent group. I'm glad to hear that scott is no longer with velvet revolver and I cant wait to hear what S.T.P. has in store for us. Also, I saw that a lot of people we're talking about scotts addiction. yes, addiction is a serious matter, but how can anyone hold that against him, or any other addict for that matter. I believe that addiction is a disease not a choice. Addiction sits beind a c;osed door in many of us, once that door is opened it's hard to even look back let alone to turn around and try to close it. For some, they dont want to close it, some do want that door closed and will struggle, some win, some lose. Either way, Wheather I'm a recovering addict(no longer using), or an active addict, I'm still an addict. Nobody wants to be an addict, nobody wants to get cancer.
Anyway, I dont really think that VR will be successful. Not just because scott w. is gone, but because they cant find thier sound. I think stp will be awesome. great band, great sound, great lyrics, and so many remaining fans that have long anticipated a comeback from one of the greatest rock/grunge bands.

Same thing with you, I am sorry that you suffer like this but don't blame addiction because addiction is just the result of your conscious choices. Again I still am sorry for your suffering.

ok, listen up ppl, i saw VR in '07 and they kicked ass. but sebastian bach would be a GREAT replacement. this would give time for weiland to get his rehab. then he can go to STP. weiland is the sh**. we dont need him dyin' on us. OR slash, mckagan, and sorum should burry the hatchet with axl and start kickin a$$ again! (yeah right!)

Red_chord. I can agree with that. But as an addict (Recovering addict) had I known the first time I used that i had already been pre-disposed to addiction and had addictive tendencies I may not have used. yes it was my choice to use. I was curious. but there was no way to know. I dont blame other people or myself, but I do get upset when people blame my addiction for the way the things are or the way things happened. Regardless, I am one of the lucky ones who was able get away and stay clean. People still throw my addiction around for blame or use it against me. Even when something happens in my life that has nothing to do with me being a recovering addict, People will say "it's because he's an addict". Same with Scott W. when anything happens in his life or in his career they blame his addiction. There's much more to us than that. It's not that simple. I'm as complicated as anoyone else.

Yeah, you see there's a few people here that think that Bach would be a great replacement but when you actually imagine him singing Velvet Revolver songs, I don't think it would work. Besides that, as I said before, I really don't see how that Bach comment Weiland made could be anything but sarcasm.

Well rudy the problem with Weiland is that almost all the time we hear bad things about him it's because he got arrested for drugs or alcool. But I think (Imight be wrong) that everybody is a potential addict, some can get addicted faster but all of us could easily become one.
