Nine Inch Nails Signs Record Deal with Roadrunner Records
In a very surprising twist, a spokesman for Roadrunner Records has released a statement to the press early this morning announcing that they have inked a deal with industrial rock giants Nine Inch Nails, which, following suit of Radiohead, independently released "Ghosts I-IV" through label The Null Corporation after splitting with major label Interscope Records, ending an 18 year long association.
Roadrunner spokesman Joseph King enlightened us with the following report:
“As I’m sure fans of music everywhere are aware, Roadrunner is always trying to improve its catalog of musicians by bringing in the best artists in all genres of music. After the recent selling phenomenon of the independently released ‘Ghosts I-IV’, which sold out within days of being available, Roadrunner simply had to see if we could work something out with the collective genius that is Nine Inch Nails. As soon as we heard about the bands’ latest effort, we got in touch with Mr. Reznor, who was a lot more accommodating than I’ll admit we expected! Talks went back and forth, we gave Trent figures, he wanted to know if we wanted a solid band or would we allow him to continue using guest musicians on any future work, and so on and on. I understand that the details are still forthcoming, but I am permitted to divulge that it is thanks to the deal between NIN and Roadrunner that the band has very recently been reformed! Trent is giving the band a few months to learn the ‘Ghosts’ material before setting off on a North American tour to support the release, which will be followed by many more dates in many more locations. There is nothing planned yet for a follow-up, but we are very proud to say that it will be pushed on you incessantly by Roadrunner Records.”
No word has yet come from Trent Reznor on the specifics of the Roadrunner deal or the reasons for the move away from The Null Corporation back to a major label. It was only weeks ago that Reznor slammed Radiohead’s release of "In Rainbows," saying that to him it “feels insincere,” and that “…the way [Radiohead] parlayed it into a marketing gimmick has certainly been shrewd.” The dates for the Nine Inch Nails North American tour, as previously reported, are as follows:

Thought they are really happy to be able to work independently finally?!
Besides I thought that they are working on new material and won't tour with Ghosts.
So...wtf? A Ghosts tour sounds rather boooring
