Dark New Day Calls It Quits?

Dark new Day, the band featuring Clint Lowery (guitar; ex-KORN touring member, SEVENDUST) Troy McLawhorn (guitar; EVANESCENCE, ex-DOUBLE DRIVE), Clint's brother Corey Lowery (bass; ex-STEREOMUD, STUCK MOJO) Brett Hestla (vocals; ex-CREED, VIRGOS MERLOT) and Will Hunt (drums; EVANESCENCE, ex-SKRAPE, TOMMY LEE) has called it quits according to a blog posted (which is now deleted from their MySpace) by drummer Will Hunt. The end of the band is apparently due to their label, Warner Bros., not being able to make a timely decision on the band and the release of their new studio album.

The band completed their second album in December and had been reportedly "working on a release date" in January.

In May last year Evanescence "borrowed" drummer Will Hunt and guitarist Troy McLawhorn to tour with them. Vocalist Clint Lowery also did a stint as a touring guitarist with Korn later in the year.

I know I am gonna get crap for this but oh well I actually liked Dark New Day and sucks somewhat that they brokeup, technically they only had one album(Two if you count the itunes acoustic one) they were awesome live,I think with this break up their are tons of factors in why they broke up,Their label could be one but it could also be the fact that two of the members in Dark New Day are more or less in Evanescence now and that Clint at one point was playing with Korn so I blame more the bands these members joined then anything,I mean yeah a record label stringing you along would make any band start to consider other options musically but come on like Evanescence and Korn need the help!

I agree with the first 2 posts. This is not good. I really liked this band too. I cant believe this is happening but such is the career of a musician. I really hope that this is not true and it was just some hacker trying to be funny. This is a great band and I was really looking forward to hearing their new stuff. Clint is a great musician and if this is true hopefully he will find something else.

Well I'm happy at this news. They bored the hell out of me. Brother is one of the worst songs I've ever heard from a rock band, and they get pretty bad. Clint may have been in Sevendust and I do like Sevendust, but I felt he was bringing them down. His last album with Sevendust, Seasons, was their worst and I felt they improved with the following album without him. It still wasn't their best, but I liked it a hell of a lot more than Seasons.

I HATE Evanescence...that is boring sh1t! I didn't even like their first album. I never really heard that much from Dark New Day, and never was a fan, but they are better than Evanescence and Korn!

Kind of off the topic - but I would take Lacuna Coil over Evanescence any day.
The singer is more talented from LC, and the guitar is a lot heavier...just overall kick a$$.

Amy Lee has a lot more vocal talent than Cristina. Don't get me wrong, I think LC is awesome, and Scabbia's voice sounds cool and it's unique, but she definitely isn't more vocally gifted. They're not heavier than Ev either. If you listen to both bands (and not just singles) LC is a lot more media friendly than they're seen to be by their fanbase.

Lacuna Coil has nothing to do with this thread. Evanescence is only mentioned because there are guys from that band. Why are you talking about either?

On topic:
I think this band was okay, I only really liked a few songs. And it doesn't say that they broke up, considering they deleted the blog off their MySpace then it may mean they didn't. We won't know until there is an official statement from the band saying they are done.

sh**, so the new album's never coming out? That's a bummer. I was really enjoying this band. Hopefully Brett Hestla starts up some other project if Dark New Day really is over.

Sorry to ruffle some feathers - but I clearly stated that my comment about Lacuna Coil and Evanescence was off-topic. I agreed to that. I have to disagree with the above posts. Hey, everyone has their likes and dislikes, it is life. I do like dark new day, though.

to ry, Evanescence is NOT breaking up, Dark New Day is, why don't you read the freakin article? I really could care less about Dark New Day, they aren't talented and they aren't metal, so who cares. And all that Lacuna coil and Evanescence are are rip-offs of After Forever and Nightwish, both aren't very good. After Forever and Nightwish on the other hand should do a tour together, with Epica as special guests, cause that would be BRUTAL!!!!

Oh please stop the who ripped off who garbage ev was formed roughly the same time as nightwidh so I doubt they'd heard of each other. Secondly to the people who are being stupid because dnd aren't hardcore enough for you, get over it. Its a real shame they're breakingup coz I remember how excited will and troy were about the new album. Record labels suck
