Stone Temple Pilots To Reunite?

VELVET REVOLVER frontman Scott Weiland has told MiamiHerald.com that fans should be on the lookout for a reunion of his previous band, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, in the coming months. The singer made the announcement during an appearance this past Saturday (January 19) at an all-star gala event benefiting the AROD Family Foundation. The event took place at the Ritz Carlton hotel in South Beach, Florida. Hosts included Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez and his wife Cynthia, who founded the non-profit organization to support programs focused on improving quality of life, education and mental health for families in distress.

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS guitarist Dean DeLeo and bassist Robert DeLeo confirmed the band's split in 2003 following the release of the group's greatest-hits package, "Thank You".

"It was time to move on to other things," Dean told Guitar One magazine at the time. "Life and personalities and brotherhood took its course."

"Dean and [drummer] Eric [Kretz] and myself, I think, all feel a sense of sadness, relief, anger, melancholy about it," said Robert. "But to try and go and accomplish something with this band after we've already peaked is a bit cheesy. There's a cheese factor with guys hitting 40 trying to recapture glory.

"There's no way to go but out."

Weiland was expected to appear in a Los Angeles courtroom last Thursday (January 17), where his recent DUI case was to be continued. The singer was charged with driving under the influence of drugs after being pulled over by police in late November.

VELVET REVOLVER will begin a new U.S. tour on January 24 in Chicago, with dates confirmed through February 9.

Army of Anyone didn't function so Richard Patrick is working on Filter again.
Velvet Revolver has been having issues. The GNR fans want a legitimate reunion.....

Hell, why not have an STP reunion. RATM did--and if that band so much as farts now it's in the news. Couldn't hurt Scott W. Kretz and the DeLeo bros at this point.

It really wouldn't hurt at all. Army of Anyone is terrible, Velvet Revolver is ok at best. In a perfect world STP would reunite with its original members, and as would GNR. This would be amazing news if it were to be true. Scott Weiland is honestly one of my favorite singers, and STP is just one of those bands that I will never be able to forget. Cynic is making a new CD, so anything is possible.

Agreed to post 2 and 3. I really miss hearing new STP. That was always fun for me in the 90s. It would pop on the radio and it was party time especally because I would be working and rocking out. Scott going back to the best band he has been in would be great!

Please let this happen. And post 3 is right. Hell, if STP and GNR both reunited, the only way this could be better would be if they both toured together.

Granted tgat Axl Rose doesnt pull anything too dumb and Scott can be somewhat coherant. As an artist I respect both, but on a personal level (atleast from news reports and such) think that both could use an attitude ajustment. Then again I am not a bed of frikin roses all the time either.

That is great news. Hope it is true. I agree, STP, was one of my favorite bands. I just don't like Velvet Revolver..I miss STP! Army of Anyone was pretty good...so it shows that the De Leo brothers can still shred.

While it would be cool if both bands would reunite, I can't help to wonder if either frontman would make it to the shows. I say 80% chance Scott shows up to perform, but Axle's chances of making the night would be more like 10%. I can't help to think what a waste of talents.

slightly off topic, but sort of not. Maybe I'm slow on the ball, but I just noticed that Dave Grohl was both the drummer for Nirvana and the guitarist/singer for th Foo Fighters, and now he might just be touring as Led Zeppelin's drummer, "IF" they tour. it just seem's to me like everthing that this man involves himself in musically is Solid Gold. that's pretty much the only time I've seen a shoot off band become almost as popular as the original, is with FF/ Nirvana. I mean look at Hellyeah. That band is such crap that it offends me. Pantera drums and Mudvayne Vox? How does one get dog sh** in a paper bag?. whatever. Can someone please tell me of an instance where Mr.Dave failed in something so that i can rest easy tonite?

You know why Dave Grohl has that much success ? Passion. Whether you like what he is doing or not, he does it because he loves it. He invests himself in the project and he is having a ball. But to make you feel better, he failed having an erection once but he just found out that the chick was not a chick...

Well, some people criticized Grohl over his Probot project. I loved it personally but I may be a minority, not sure I haven't met that many people who have heard it.

Really? I heard of Probot and it was pretty ok imo as well but I had no idea he was even involved in that. Damnit, to me at least, he succeed at now one more thing. Diamond Oz YOUR'E NOT HELPING LOL. jus kiddin And thank you Red_Chord, yes I do feel better. More artists should feel that way about their music, investing themselves into it wholeheartedly(*ehem, Metallica) and the world would be a better place.
I don't hate the guy, I'm just astounded at his list of accomplishments, it makes me feel inadequate and lazy. Which is nonsense bc I love my band and don't really care about it's direction as long as it stays Metal and sounds good to me. i put effort into it just like he does, look forward to practices all the time. But I still feel inadequate. f***. lol.

Now playing: Anomalous- "Cognitive Dissonance" heehee their drummer is a robot real sh**.

it's easier to invest in music when you are already full of cash like he was. You need to work for a living and so do I but he could take his sweet a$$ time because I heard that he made some money with Nirvana. Yep ! But Probot was a good success in my book. And he drummed for Queens of the stone age as well for a while.

So for now I stick with screaming. Thankgod My voice leans in the death Metal direction, I couldn's stand it otherwise, I would stop singing altogether.

Yeah but I left my guitar not because it was broken because I wanted to put heavier string gauge on it but he was so busy that he had to take 2 weeks...but he's so good that I don't care...still I will probably do it with her when I get her in an hour or so...I mean playing with it, I mean playing music with it. But my pickup shouldn't bust because it's a Seymour Duncan Jeff Beck and it's very reliable.

It's not about reliability in this case. The actual body of the bass is broken too, so somebody f***en smashed it, as opposed to it just wearing out. whatever sh** happens i was going to get a whole new bass soon anyway, but still... Why the f*** would someone do that? even if it's on accident, am i really that scary of a person that noone can own up to it? f***

btw what you do with yor instrument is YOR business lol. As a Singer, I never want anybody to ask me what I do with MY instrument, because then jokes just start flyin everywhere lol.

Now Playing: Sol Asunder- "Asunder The surface" (Kinda repetitive doncha think? good song imo anyway though)

Hehehe as a singer my insterment is never away from me. Unless I was at a concert the night after. Dave G has made a name for himself in alot of ways, but think that Zeps drummer should go a little higher in the food chain so to speak. I would really like to see it go more in the extream direction. I think maybe a Black Sabbath/ Led Zepplin tour would be way fun! Think about it... Two very quality bands that have for decades infulanced the bands we love on one bill! That would be crazy!

As cool as that sounds, it just can't happen. Zepp only plays solo shows since their songs end up becoming giant orchestratal pieces. Dazed and Confused doe'snt get smaller than 50 min in length in concert. Plus, It's "the experience" of just them playing that they want you to have. Black Sabbath though, would need Ozzy so that they could do all their original stuff the way it was intended. Iv'e seen them in concert with Dio as vocs, and he's good and all, but his music was always so different from what Sabbath had begun as, that it sort of wouldnt hold up against Led Zepp without Ozzy and their original music. Just my opinion on BS though, that's how "I" would like it to be, that's all.

I'm betting that Grohl is somewhat already friends with LZ, so they looked to him to fill the title. iwould'nt be surprised if cobain and him had met them during Nirvana days, back then even the legends were all over that band. I think Eddie Van Halen walked backstage drunk once during a Nirvana concert and asked if he could play with them, since he just loved them so much.
then again maybe Jimmy Page just thought Grohl was exactly the style they needed for now, idk the man is strange. Odd, but a genius, so who am I to argue with a choice of his in the musical arena?
