Quiet Riot Singer Kevin DuBrow Found Dead

Band Photo: Quiet Riot (?)

Michael Politz of The Vegas Eye reports that QUIET RIOT frontman Kevin DuBrow was found dead in his Las Vegas home on Sunday, November 25. According to Politz, DubRow — whom Politz calls "one of my closest friends" — recently celebrated his 52nd birthday in New Orleans "where he ate great food and even caught THE CULT at The House of Blues."

Although the band has yet to issue an official statement on the matter, bassist Kelly Garni, who was one of the founding members of QUIET RIOT, has posted the following message on the Randy Rhoads (late QUIET RIOT/OZZY OSBOURNE guitarist) web site RandyRhoads.tk:

"I ask this to all of you not only for myself but for other friends and family. I ask that no one here offer any speculation or opinions, theories or other things that could be construed as negative or, and I'm sorry for this, even sympathetic, right at this immediate time. I am already within hours of this having to deal with untrue rumors and speculation and that only adds fuel to that. There is a tendency for the subject of Kevin to incite flames on every board and now is not the time for that. I will explain to everyone here the facts and the truth in the next 24 to 48 hours as I realize this will effect us all. So please, until then, be patient. All details and other pertinate info will be passed on to you here when it becomes available to me. Thank you."

Living fast leads to early death. I don't know if that's the case with Kevin DuBrow necessarily but I think it's safe to say that the high mortality among metal musicians is because of it.

I don't think it is appropriate for anyone to make derogatory remarks at a time of such sorrow. Though I did not know Kevin DuBrow personally, I have certainly heard and enjoyed the music he created with Quiet Riot. Music does not always have to be high-brow (pardon the pun) to be enjoyable. I cite ACDC as an example. My sympathy goes out to his family and friends. As I have all too often learned, very few of us in music really get to last very long at all, and each day is another attempt to keep going in the face of bad odds. As for the aforementioned spellking error, one comment - so f**king what? It's an obit, you a**hole. RIP Kevin

Was a big fan--had Quiet Riot II with Randy on it, then got Metal Health when they reformed after his death. Played bass, so I was a Rudy Sarzo fan. Odd, I really hadn't thought about them much as I got old(er), but just last week I did a search for Rudy on Google, read all the interviews, read about the, umm "disagreements" between him and Kevin, then this....Strange and very sad! Saw them in a small club in Clarksville, TN in 83. Great show, good guys!

Kevin really never got the credit due to him, he was a pro who at first had to learn how to deal with being a "star" and to most of us we saw him as a egotistical front man for a band that started a whole new way of life for for many people who are now in their late 30's early 40's, he is easily one of the top 5 singers of his time hands down ! We must now go from saying how good he really was to giving this man the credit he deserves ! There is many in the rock world who are stunned today it is a sad day in the history of rock and roll, please keep the legacy of Kevin Dubrow going strong! He is now back with Randy Rhodes, awww just the thought of the music they are going to make up there, so to all the ones who said that QUIET RIOT sucked back in the early 80's I now ask you to tip your hat to one of rocks best vocalist, have a beer for the man, tell your friends that yeah you were one of the closet QUIET RIOT fans who probably got busted by your parents playing air guitar to "Mental Health" and finally admit that Kevin Dubrow rocked !!!! I know the next time i hear "Cum on feel the noise" i will pay attention to the way he sang it and how he gave it 110%. Kevin rest in peace brother.

Growing up in the mid to late 80's Mr. Dubrow and his band Quiet Riot got plety of play on my walkman and stereo. Those were special times for metal music. Kevin sang with a very unique tone on tracks like Condition Critical and an old fave of mine, Don't Wanna Let You Go. My heart goes out to Frankie Banali, Rudy Sarzo and the many great musicians who played with him. Let's continue remembering what great music they made for us all.
